Cataclysm Closed Beta - NDA Lift
The NDA is lifted. You're free to discuss anything on the forums.

I didn't expect it to be lifted that soon, some pages look ugly, working on it. Recent forum posts box disabled to (try to) prevent a crash of the site.

Lylirra on the forums is still insisting invites are being sent out today but I don't believe it.

I get the feeling that Skywall is going to be one of my favorite 5-mans in this expanision. It's just so nice to look at.

Not a lot, at least in Hyjal. In fact, I can only remember three, which are all done in the same area one right after another. Maybe took 5 minutes tops. I've only done about half of Vas'jir due to broken quests, but so far I have only encountered one there.

I do have to say that the few vehicle quests that are there are a LOT more fun than the vehicle quests in Wrath. There aren't any "We are going to put you in a vehicle for no other reason than we think vehicles are awesome" type quests. If you are doing a vehicle quests, it makes sense that you NEED to be in a vehicle.

If you are a person who absolutely hates vehicles no matter what and think they should be struck from the game completely, all I can tell you is that the quests are quick.

I have to concur w/ Gurbz here. Of the vehicle quests that are available, none of them seem tedious. There are a few also from the 1-60 quests and those are pretty fun as well. =D

Yes, until you realize that health pools went up dramatically from Vanilla > TBC, then from TBC > WotLK, then from WotLK> Cat. Damage also went up on a dramatic scale as well, and from the looks of the few items alone from the crafting, it will do so again.

"We want to increase the health pools because we think that will solve the problems with battlegrounds and arenas. We'll also raise the damage people do as well, and then be shocked when it doesn't correct the problem with killing people within a 2-3 second window. Again. For the third time."

The new gear itemization is a huge turn-off, like using Pokemon card game stats for a video game.

How come there are a lot less comments than they used to be? I remember 2k comments before the NDA was enforced now it barely has 300. Just curious.

Because there isn't really much that hasn't been already shown. Other than class changes, which most were show during and prior to E3.

Was wondering the same thing. Personally I find it more difficult to discern between posts, they almost seem to run together. Maybe I'm just not used to the layout yet.. :\

DPS isn't intended to scale as much in Cata as it did from BC to LK. Yes all stats are going up but with all the changes they're making, level 85 scaling, talent changes, stat removal, tweaking etc they should accomplish their goal of extending PvP fights since health pools ARE going up a huge amount (and leveling out between classes/spec)

The main changes that intrigued me. Imp. HL and Imp. HS are both nice, although I'm disappointed about Beacon only be working with HL and HS now. As for Aura Mastery, why is it in that specific spot in the tree if it has basically nothing to do with the prerequisite talents? I'm thinking either it's being changed, it'll be replaced by something else.

I'm also curious about how much Divine Light heals for in comparison to the other two. I'm just thinking if we will eventually get to the point where we use FoL and DL most of the time, while hardly using HL at all.

    New things posted on worldofraids.com.

    Leveling Up
When leveling up, the game now displays a "toast" to congratulate you and also make you aware of new skills, talent points and features available to you as of the level. This includes alerting you of battlegrounds, the dungeon finder, riding and glyphs. In addition to this, all of the messages are sent as text in your chat window as well, and the primary "You reached level x" is clickable, displaying the entire toast summary.

    Character Panel
The character panel has been updated. The stat display has been moved out away from the model preview and onto the right side in a collapsible area. The screenshots below show it expanded; you can collapse it by clicking on the bottom-right arrow button on the panel.

    Spellbook & Professions Book
The spellbook has been updated due to the changes to the spell system, and now also displays your abilities even if you can't learn them yet. In the screenshot example you see a new ability is ready to be trained. The professions tab of the book is brand new and displays all of your known professions, as well as buttons to create hotkeys for them or to open the recipe panel.

    Profession Recipes - Multiple Skillups
With Cataclysm, professions such as Blacksmithing, Tailoring, Leatherworking, etc. can now give multiple skillups for certain items when creating them. The recipes panel has been updated to reflect this. The number of skillups you receive (beyond one) will be displayed with an up-arrow and a numerical value, to the right of the recipe name.

    Remote Quest System
A new remote quest system has been added, allowing you to receive and complete some quests out in the field, without having to visit the starting NPCs. When a quest is completed and ready to turn in using this system, you will see a graphical alert on the quest tracker.

    Quest Tracker - Minimap Arrow
The quest tracker has been further enhanced with Cataclysm, now displaying an arrow on your minimap directing you to the "#1" quest in your quest tracker. It's recommended you sort by proximity to take full advantage of this arrow.

    Kill Target Enhancements
Kill Target quests, primarily those for "named" NPCs will now display a window to the right of the quest dialogue that shows the model for the NPC you must kill, as well as a bit of flavor text.

    Track Everything & Minimap
The tracking options have been revamped as it's now possible to track multiple things (or everything) at once. The minimap has also been updated to display unique icons for various tracking options.

some pretty cool stuff with in this expansion!!!
