Cataclysm Release, Dalaran Portals, Cataclysm Epic Stats

Not official, but as good as, releasing the expansion just before the holiday period is just massively fail, even for the employees of Blizzard who will have to spend their christmas mixing bugs, i certainly won't be playing the expansion till January

Rough numbers game, but 1 boss is ~16 points post-patch (that's ~5.5 badges before the 4.0 conversion)...

If someone has 1,000 saved emblems today (2750 points), that's about 166 dungeon runs (avg 6 per)

If bosses continue to give 16 points in 4.0, you only need to do ~30 dungeon runs to catch up to them after patch -- as in you just have to do 30 runs after talents push to live, while you still have 1-4 weeks before cataclysm is actually purchasable (my math: 16 points * 5 bosses + 16 point 'bonus' = 96 points/run)

I think people who horded emblems got screwed here, imo.

But oh well. ... Anyway, if you want to keep up the hate at them for running 100 more dungeons and getting less out of it then you... go right ahead, but as I said, I think they got screwed. I'd personally cash out and run 40 dungeons between 4.0 and cata to hit cap.

A guy that has no idea what release date is reports information that someone not authorized to discuss release date tells him. You're not really surprised that the Nov 2 guess was wrong, are you? Disappointed, but not surprised.

Either they release it early to please the people complaining that they're bored and want it now, resulting in people complaining that "omfg it's not even finished...too buggy, Blizz is money hungry by releasing this unfinished"

Or...They release it when it's done and people complain that it's taking too long and that Blizz is money hungry, wanting to milk the hype.

Point being...they don't care if you're bored, they're going to put out the best product that they can. Regardless of how long it takes. In the end, the forum people that talk the loudest are going to say Cata ruined the game and Blizz doesn't know what they're doing. Why even try to please those people anymore? If you're planning days off and holidays around a game release, maybe you should take a break for the next two months.

I get it, I'm dying to play it now too. But I've got plenty of alts to get to 80 and gold to make. The game isn't boring for me right now, and if it was, I wouldn't play until Cata. Is it that hard to be reasonable? I believe we'll have a firm release date at BlizzCon, and a lot of events to get us more excited. Save your anger/frustration to complain about your class changes when 4.0.1 goes live in a couple weeks. =) I pulled that "couple weeks" out of my ass, just like any other release date speculation. Wait for official announcements and it's much more tolerable to wait, instead of trying to find hints in blue posts and refreshing mmo-champ every hour. Just relax and enjoy yourself. That's what games are for, after-all. =)

All the armor is extremely dull, stamina, intellect, spirit, mastery, the only thing that currently seperates them is the armor type, i miss WoTlK already

I make a clean $10 off a bet if Cataclysm comes out in 2011 (even after their vague 2010 release date announcement). I already made a $5 off blizzard skimping out on worgen mounts (technically they don't have race mounts) would have been $10 if Goblins didn't get their mount.

So with my account canceled I'm actually making money off blizzards crappiness from fools who believe the company is capable of not jerking us around. Not much money but it makes me feel all the more justified in my lack of faith in blizzard. Should have made a bet on worgen females being crappy after delaying them for so long but i guess that would be too subjective to prove.

:sad: about the portals, but mages will be making more money now lol. Sucks that the trainers just sit there and look like we're on a private server. But then again, kinda happy there's class trainers there. BUT THEN AGAIN, the whole reason we wanted class trainers there is because we could port anywhere, haha.

This is ludacris. Now we're stuck in each place for 30 mins at a time? Are they adding Auction Houses to Dal and Shatt? If not, the sytem they're going for is STILL broken.

And besides, they said they wanted to bring players BACK to the cities, the REAL faction cities, so the world didn't seem so dead, and now they're going to segregate people? Now you have to find a Mage for a port to Dal, then a port to Shatt, then a port to Org, etc, etc? Otherwise you're just stranded for 30+ mins, depending on portal and Mage time, cause now the Mage has to make HIS own portal seperate, too.

Ugh, stupid changes by stupid people for stupid reasons make me stupid.

Compare that to the PvP helmet above. Less agi, less stamina, far more crit, LESS MASTERY, even with the socket bonus. This is an iLevel 359 epic. Do you see where I'm going?

The reason for this in TBC was that getting an instance group was OMG PAIN and the loot sucked ass. You also not gonna have best-in-slot items from PvP anymore which was the case in early TBC.

I'm pretty sure the game has to be out in 2010, at least that's what was told to the shareholders of Activision/Blizzard. Once you stop hitting deadlines of "Q4 2010", it's a slippery slope that affects the company much more than subscribers being angry of deadlines. You're starting to talk about the SEC and future stock purchases. This is the same reason you don't see companies promising things they can't deliver on.

I suppose that the portal hubs conflicted with the desire to emphasize focus on the capital cities, but the nostalgic part of me is a bit saddened. Still, mayhap there will be a portal area in one of the new zones...? If not, I guess my mage will see a bit of a jump in her income.

Beta now is just there to tune classes, instances and gear. All of the bugs that were found have most likely already been fixed but they are not going to push them at all in Beta simply because people focus too much on that stuff (which is easily found by QA Devs) and not enough on tuning for raids, instances and other such things.

ICC hit the servers 8th of December 2009, for all the people playing WoW because of Raids that means a year of ICC without any new stuff.
Yeah sorry Halion is there, one boss added in a whole year. They must be working like crazy on Cataclysm.

2nd of November sounds pretty reasonable to me. Boub is just guessing i think to make people go frenzy :-).
I think they have enough Diablo 3 coverage für Blizzcon 2010 in line with other stuff to be presented.
Or do they need to cover Blizzcon with Cataclym stuff and release date? If that occurs then its for shure not November when the game hits.

How ever the portal removal in shatt and Dalaran just means to me we are ought to stay in Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms where the places of interest are. Just use the ships and Zeplins to get over the sea like in the old days. Populates the whole world little more than just jumping from Dalaran to Ironforge or Orgrimmar after being 85.
