Enchanting in Cataclysm Preview
It's time for a short preview of what to expect from Enchanting in Cataclysm!

1. Weapon Enchantments
Most of the weapon enchantments in Cataclysm are procs, Mighty Agility being the only passive stat boost. Also, some of them have very impressive visual effects.

Slot Enchant Description
2H WeaponMighty AgilityPermanently enchant a two-handed weapon to increase Agility by 130.
WeaponAvalanchePermanently enchant a weapon to often deal 463 to 537 Nature damage to an enemy struck by your melee attacks.
WeaponElemental SlayerPermanently enchant a melee weapon to sometimes disrupt elementals when struck by your melee attacks, dealing Arcane damage and silencing them for 5 sec.
WeaponHeartsongPermanently enchant a weapon to sometimes increase Spirit by 200 for 15 sec when casting spells.
WeaponHurricanePermanently enchant a melee weapon to sometimes increase haste rating by 450 for 12 sec when casting spells or dealing melee damage.
WeaponLandslidePermanently enchant a weapon to sometimes increase attack power by 1000 for 12 sec when striking in melee.
WeaponMendingPermanently enchant a weapon to sometimes heal you when damaging an enemy with spells and melee attacks.
WeaponPower TorrentPermanently enchant a weapon to sometimes increase Intellect by 500 for 12 sec when dealing damage or healing with spells.

2. Armor Enchantments
Nothing really new on that side, but I'm sure most of you would be happy to have a list of armor enchants in Cataclysm.

Enchanters still have their ring enchantments, they require 475 enchanting skill.

Slot Enchant Description
RingAgilityPermanently enchant your own ring to increase Agility by 40. Enchanting your ring causes it to become soulbound and requires 475 Enchanting skill to remain active.
RingGreater StaminaPermanently enchant your own ring to increase Stamina by 60. Enchanting your ring causes it to become soulbound and requires 475 Enchanting skill to remain active.
RingIntellectPermanently enchant your own ring to increase Intellect by 40. Enchanting your ring causes it to become soulbound and requires 475 Enchanting skill to remain active.
RingStrengthPermanently enchant your own ring to increase Strength by 40. Enchanting your ring causes it to become soulbound and requires 475 Enchanting skill to remain active.


4. Companion Pets
Enchanters get their own craftable pet! The Enchanted Lantern will be available for Horde Players and the Magic Lamp for Alliance.

    The enchants are way over the top! It would be nice to see our weapons instead of a giant glow stick.

    I somewhat agree that they are a little over the top, but I am happy with them... what I don't get is Might Agility.

    What do leaves have to do with increased agility rating?

    i think it has something to do with leaves blowing in the wind, which is probably what it will look like while swinging, so my bet is wind == supah agile

    Very nice animations. However it seems they like to keep reusing the animation with the leaves.

    50 dodge rating to bracers, or continue using 40 stamina to bracers from wrath. that's a no brainer. 50 dodge rating isn't crap by comparison to 40 stamina. With DR and inflated rating requirements at 85, 50 dodge rating i'd wipe my ass with. what's with blizzard and useless tank enchants all the time.

    and 160 armor to shield? 160 armor is nothing by EH comparison to 18 stamina, espeically now that stamina is worth even more per point than it was pre 4.x. so i guess there we're still gonna be using 18 stamina from burning crusade.

    Agreed with the bit over the top enchants, it might be cause they are shown in modelviewer (doubt it but its possible).

    Actually 50 dodge rating is way more ivalue than 40 Stamina (which is the equivalent of 26.67 dodge rating). Also in Cata, tanks will not itemize for Stamina only. If you are a mana sponge, your healers will go oom and you will die. When you are not in danger of dying in a short window of time, the effective health theory goes out of the window and when preventing excessive healing becomes the new priority, avoidance and mitigation are your new gearing concerns. In Cata I expect that you will want to keep a certain health pool appropriate to the raiding tier you are in, and then everything else goes to avoidance (unless you can get mitigation through armor or if it proves to be superior, block capping).

    The enchants look great but they should lower down the effects, they almost block weapon look/art/design.
    But ye its maybe a bug from the modelviewer, i hope.
