The Patch 4.1 PTR Notes have been updated once again! My favorite part?

  • Maelstrom Crystals are now available for purchase with Honor or Justice Points from the associated commodities vendors.

PvP

Death Knight (Forums / 3.3.5 Talent Calculator / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Beta Skills/Talents)
Unholy
  • Desecration no longer triggers when an applicable strike hits a snare-immune target. This is primarily to avoid unnecessary spell effect clutter during boss encounters.

Mage (Forums / 3.3.5 Talent Calculator / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Beta Skills/Talents)

Frost
  • Fingers of Frost bonus damage applied to Ice Lance has been increased to 25%, up from 15%.

Paladin (Forums / 3.3.5 Talent Calculator / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Beta Skills/Talents)
Holy
  • Illuminated Healing shield duration is now 15 seconds, up from 8 seconds. In addition, Illuminated Healing has been increased to provide 1.5% effect per mastery, up from 1.25%.

Shaman (Forums / 3.3.5 Talent Calculator / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Beta Skills/Talents)
Enhancement
  • Improved Fire Nova has been redesigned and replaced by a talent called Seasoned Winds. When an enemy spell cast is successfully prevented with Wind Shear, the shaman gains magical resistance (in an amount equal to what a protection totem/aura would grant, stacking with such buffs) to the spell school(s) of the interrupted spell (except for Holy spells), lasting 10 seconds.

Dungeons & Raids
Dire Maul North

The Mechanar

Stratholme
  • Postboxes no longer require keys to open, because really, who locks their postboxes anymore when they're all undead? It's just people sending coupons for brains anyway.
  • The Postmaster now spawns when 3 of any postbox are opened.

Uldaman
  • The Staff of Prehistoria is no longer required to open the door in the Map Room.
  • Baelog's chest has been given new loot. If it's grey it's good, right?

Zul'Farrak

Guilds
  • The amount of guild experience rewarded for rated Battleground guild group wins has been dramatically increased.
  • Players are now rewarded guild experience for Honorable Kills in the field.
  • Players are now rewarded guild experience for Battleground wins in Battleground brackets up to level 80.
  • Arena teams are now awarded guild experience for wins. The entire team must be members of the same guild to earn this experience.

Items
  • All trade goods available for purchase with Honor or Justice Points from the associated commodities vendors have had their prices reduced by 50%.
  • Maelstrom Crystals are now available for purchase with Honor or Justice Points from the associated commodities vendors.

PvP
Arenas
  • The Ring of Valor has returned! It should now be playable again in the Arena map rotation.
  • New starting areas have been added for Ring of Valor. Players will no longer enter the Arena on the elevator. It's been removed. Instead players will start in a room at opposite ends of the Arena.

Quests & Creatures
  • Loot from the creatures Garr, Julak-Doom, Mobus, and Poseidus has been adjusted to be commensurate to their rarity and invested effort.

User Interface
  • The Guild Finder has been implemented! While we are continuing to add final polish to this feature, we welcome all focused testers to give it a go. Feedback can be provided here.

Get resil and frost mages don't hit you for any real damage as it is. The main complaints against frost mages are from PvE geared toons who get rocked by them in random BGs. Glad to see that blizzard understands this and isn't falling for the knee jerking QQ.

And no, I play a DK and a Druid.

if 11K is 1/120 of your health then your health is 1320000(over 1 million) wow man!

your calcualtion is wrong. it's 1/12 of your health
Your reading comprehension is wrong. He said 1/120th of your health MORE, meaning the difference between 10000 and 11000, which is 1000, which is 1/120th of your health.

PvP wise, frost mages probably didn't need a buff. However, on the PVE side of things they were getting curb stomped by Fire, and since they are bringing up arcane mages to be more in line, then it was necessary to balance frost mage damage as well. At least that's how I took it.

Now on to more important matters: YAY! Maelstrom crystals will be able to be bought with justice points.

The only thing worse than a frost mage is a frost mage trying to do maths.

I have a level 40 Undead Mage do you guys think I should level him up really quick? Mage are stupid hard to beat in PVP for my Ret Paladin I can almost never hit them and it feels a lot like getting beaten up by a girl. :P

They need to start adding pvp specific changes to certain talent effects. Like simply make it so targets in pvp only get 50% extra dmg from fingers of frost, and also reduce the duration of deep freeze by like 2 seconds.

LOL frost mage buffs? Does blizzard play their own game?
yes they does and i bet the dude who balance class is a frost mage...
  1. Kiro's Avatar
They were unable to balance classes before when "usually" one tree was good for PVP, let alone balance 3 trees per class which are also "supposed" to be balanced in PVE. Not going to happen, ever. The last QA with them being "happy" and that it's the "most balanced" in PVP ever just goes to show really how out of touch they are with their own game. They're just doing damage control tbh, and hoping the sheeple will support them and attack those who question on the forums. They HAVE to know that PVP is an absolute mess right now. The frost mage buffs alone show how completely out of touch they are with their own game. Stop trying to make frost viable. It's going to need a complete and total overhaul for it to be good in PVE and PVP. Any buff to Frost is another slap in the face to non-frost mages everywhere.

They were really quick to assault DK's and Druids though, really quick. And they nerfed them into near uselessness at that. But hey, buff a known OP class, it'll be fine.

I can't believe that 4.1 STILL hasn't launched, even left PTR yet. This is one of blizzard's most epic fails to date. They "supposedly" have more subscribers than ever, yet content has yet to creep out the door. The game is beat and stale, and they don't care, obviously, considering the next patch is recycled heroics. We won't see raid content for another 2-3 months yet, and that's hoping for the best. I thought they learned their lesson they said, getting content out faster than ever! But of course, we knew this wouldn't be the case after all it is blizzard. If someone heard how long duke nukem was in development, they'd think it was a blizzard game. It's not funny, it's not "oh that blizzard" anymore, it's just flat-out pathetic this developer with it's resources fails to put more effort into the game that's paying the bills for everything at their office with an outrageous amount of cash to spare. Yet they take money out of WoW, and pull their only talented devs and put them on all the other projects, leaving WoW to the interns. It's astounding actually, and flat out sad.

blizzard has really failed this time.

This is pretty funny since its been said a long time about [Insert random class that people at the time think is OP] and ye, its the same thing over and over again. Now all devs apperently play mages (guess they didnt play mages during Sunwell?), they used to play warlocks/rogues/droods and in a couple of weeks/months all devs will play another class

Hell, I think I'll just spread my cheeks wide open whenever I see a mage, can't deal with them now, sure as hell they'll turn into raid bosses now.

So Frost Mages get the most control, and now their damage will once again be stupidly high. WTB a base 30% magic damage resistance increase to Anti-Magic Shell to compensate for the overpoweredness that is the Frost Mage. And more Holy Paladin nerfs, cause ya know that Holy is still OP despite the fact that they are a lot lower on healing meters now.
