Cross-Realm Dungeon Feature Coming Soon

Today, we wanted to give you a heads up about a new feature currently in development that will allow players to invite Real ID friends of the same faction to a party regardless of the realm they play on, and then queue up for a 5-player regular or Heroic dungeon.

As this is a fairly complex service to develop, we don’t have a release date to share quite yet. It’s important to note that as with some of the other convenience- and connectivity-oriented features we offer, certain elements of the cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based, though only the player sending the invitations will need to have access to the premium service. We'll have more details to share with you as development progresses -- in the meantime, you may begin to see elements of the feature appear on the World of Warcraft PTR.

They lost me at "premium". Please tell me that I don't have to PAY to invite RealID friends to group with me. That would just be...

    Just, yeah.

I would have though that if you wanted to play with your friends, you'd simply FREAKING ROLL ON THEIR REALMS!!!......

who asked for that feature btw, some blizz developer's kid?

If i wanted to pay for extra features i want and dont pick the ones i dont want, i would be paying a monthly fee, i'd go back to freaking Silkroad Online...

Then dont buy it. you will live without it and play the same game everyone else is. Its like spending 20k on a car with basic package and calling the dealership greedy when they offer you premium sound system and leather seats at additional price. This is business all you little QQers need to grow up and learn how the real world works.

Tbh since u get all the premium things as one im ok
None of these are necessary for the game. And they allow you to do stuff no other game does, such as message ingame on the fly.
Yes its expensive but probs expensive to do

The main thing im against is selling mounts and pets , i find that worse

Faction change.... ok no problem with it. Ppl wil jump here and there every week.
Character transfer... ok no problem with it. Ppl wil jump here and there every week.
Character recustom... this is discuss able.

I think Blizzard is mad becouse we dont have to pay for chating with friends cross realm

But why I have to pay for playing with friends? Nice idea. But paid?? I dont believe them thats is so hard to implement. If you can chat with ppl from diferent realm you are "connected" trought some channel. Where is problem to be in "fake" group (something like "conference call" = chat together in group), becouse everyone is under some ID number. And then press LFD and from realms be "teleported" to dungeon. Now is dungeon finder works that he choose (prefer) ppl from your realm. Where is problem that dungeon fidner choose (prefer) your friends from queue?? I dont understand Blizz behevior these days. They lie to us.....

I think they want to make cross realm RAIDs too (will they nerfing raids to the ground becouse of that?).

I had always idea. for example 4 servers connected to one big server. All players will be playing on their server but they will be mirrored to big server. And will be able to interact with other players on diferent server like they will be on same.

Hm, I wonder what else Blizzard would sell as premium service if WoW lost 1 million subscribers.

Statisticfail. Also, I'm not wrong. People just need things to cry about or their very existence is threatened.

People like you and Mascotte just don't get it, apparently. It has nothing to do with how having or not having the functionality affects your game. It's all about mentality; it's about their desire to start charging for in-game features - something we were told, upon their introduction and over and over since, that "premium services" would never provide - on top of a subscription fee that's already supposed to cover the costs of developing things like this. It's a very slippery slope, and such a simple, very basic, move like this suggests they want to move towards adopting a micro-transactions business model (aka, F2P), but still keep the subscriptions mandatory.
Additionally, considering the ability to group indiscriminately with players cross-realm, region-wide, is already in the game, it also raises a lot of questions about where the development costs actually are for this feature, to justify the extra $3/mo surcharge.

"Hey, remember that thing you guys have been asking about for the past year or so now? Yeah, we figured out how to do it, but we're going to charge you extra for it, just because we can. Sorry, but our investors and us, we love money. You understand, right?"

On a side note: Indelible proof that the Blizzard of yore is gone...

There are more and more services becoming available that demand extra pay. Blizzard is really going downhill with this. We are already paying a monthly subscription which should include the server maintenance costs and the development and implementation of new features, why should there be a premium for a service that is almost no different, but more fun that the option to group with randoms for a heroic from other servers?

Sounded great until I read that it will be a premium feature. No way I am paying something that I won't use often. If people would really have a high demand in using this feature, then they would play on the same servers as their friends.

Soon there will be the option to subscribe the premium plan for hardmodes!

Honestly, I'm fine with all the vanity pets/mounts, and I'm even fine with the sub fee for the mobile AH/guild chat. But something like this shouldn't require an additional cost. the way they are moving with the monetization of this game is disgusting me.

We already pay 15euro a month... We deserve all this stuff for free. WoW already lost 600k subscribers I'm told, what a time to announce this lol. They should focus on the problems in the game, not adding useless premium features.

BoA's across realms will be a premium service too im thinking
  1. Xiaz89's Avatar
Pay for changing character race / features? Sure, i can understand that.

Pay to change realm? Sure, can understand that too.

Pay to get some random pet/mount vanity item? Sure, do understand that too.

Pay for some mobile armory/chat thing? Sure, go ahead.

Pay to run dungeons with Real ID friends? Wait, what?

Seriously, everything up till this is reasonable, but paying for this crap? Jesus, I havent been worried about the direction blizz was going with their "premium" or "paid" services 'till now. But this? It makes me shiver.

< Is worried where this is heading. (yes i know we'll never pay for gear and things that "benefit" your character gameplay-wise, but with this they are taking 1 step in the wrong direction) And im not really worried within WoWs lifetime. But at the same time, the same company is developing the next big MMO that most likely everyone is going to play, and all these ideas are going with that.
