Cross-Realm Dungeon Feature Coming Soon

Today, we wanted to give you a heads up about a new feature currently in development that will allow players to invite Real ID friends of the same faction to a party regardless of the realm they play on, and then queue up for a 5-player regular or Heroic dungeon.

As this is a fairly complex service to develop, we don’t have a release date to share quite yet. It’s important to note that as with some of the other convenience- and connectivity-oriented features we offer, certain elements of the cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based, though only the player sending the invitations will need to have access to the premium service. We'll have more details to share with you as development progresses -- in the meantime, you may begin to see elements of the feature appear on the World of Warcraft PTR.

*checks the date* no it’s not april 1st…

    What the community should do:
    1. let Blizzard implement this tool
    2. don’t use it

It would be the biggest “F you back, *holes” we can imagine. And we do have the power to just do that.
On the other hand, which is the sad part, we would probably still pay for it, because time spent on a feature that increases the *cough* popularity of LFD, is time not spent on something useful like, maybe, content??

It’s like their SC2 quote: "you can butter my biscuit"… I feel ass-raped right now.

I just lost my last bit of Blizzard fanboi'ism (<3)

I wouldn't care if the change is £1 or £100 a month,I just feel like we are being taken for a ride.

The lack of content followed by endless ways of making more money (mounts, pets,Mobile service, premium service etc etc) is a bad sign for us gamers, instead of using our sub fee's to make more content they seem to be spending it on ways to get MORE money from us.

Is there someone intentionally trying to destroy Blizzard? A couple of days after news of drastic drop in subscriptions - good part of which left because of increasing number of premium features - they announce doing another paid feature? WTH? Are they trying to kill this game on purpose? They, or someone who gives them orders?

If you quit, why are you here? Oh yeah you either didn't quit or you still have WoW on your mind. which is almost the same as playing it.
Rolleyes indeed. Thinking about Wow and visiting a forum is almost the same as playing it? What the hell is wrong with you?

On topic: As stated by others, sounds like a nice idea but not something anyone (in their right mind) would pay for.

WoW the first P2P game with a Premium Extra Subscription. Think tho ,this is probly not going to be higher than 2-5$ max but that still extremely not a smart move. Its like blizzard is adding a cash shop in a Fucking P2P game.

I believe we already know what the price will be - I think its just going to be in the "premium" subscription - that already has remote auction house / guild chat. At least - this is how it seems.

I welcome the idea to be able to queue for dungeons with Real ID friends, but making the customers pay extra for that is just ridiculous. I of course understand that Blizzard has to make money as a company. And I think it is perfectly fine to charge for race changes, faction changes, realm changes. Those are special features. But making dungeon groups with friends, even though they are on another realm should not be charged.

Yes there is development involved but we already have a dungeon finder system and a Real ID friendslist, I just imagine that I cannot be that hard to bring both together. And this is something that should be covered by the monthly free as a normal part of the game, which is constantly changing and evolving.

I hope Blizzard drops the plans to charge customers for that but the sad thing is that in the end a lot of people, even those who refuse to do, will do it because it enables then to play and interact with friends on other realms, which is just a lot of fun. And since only the one who invites has to pay the service, there is probably always someone around who will pay.

Wrong move for the image of Blizzard, but right move to increase financial revenues. Wish Blizzard would care more for their image.

You're about 11.4 million off but I'm sure that doesn't bother you. Good news for all the whiners--no one will make you pay for anything you don't want to pay for.

Really? You're asking for a source against a supposition (notice the words "I believe," "I think," and "this is how it seems") that's rooted in common sense?
Let it go, dimwit; take your personal vendettas elsewhere.

It's rediculous to have to pay for this feature, I mean what's next? Armor? Weapons? Zones or dailies? If Blizz continues down this path WoW will become no different than AQ Worlds or Dragonfable or any of those online games.

Nothing personal, I should have worded it better than asking for a source, though. There's just nothing that hints that it'll be included with the Mobile Auction House feature. Why would it? What if I'm only interested in the LFD with RealID Friends feature? Why should I pay for the whole package?

Was just wondering what made them think it'd be part of a pack.

Dimwit? My feelings have been hurt.

    ^ this.

Welcome to the world of pay-to-playcraft ... Long time lurker here, I just created an account because of this ... madness Blizzard wants to implement...
To all who agree to implementing this "premium" feature :
You do realize it's not about the actual price of this BS, it's the concept. If we disregard :

    - a lot of people don't actually have unlimited funds to pay for everything Blizzard charges for and are struggling to simply pay the monthly fee to be able to play their favorite game
    - a lot of people (including me) don't want to reroll (yet another time) on another server just because they found out of their friends also play WoW but on a different realm. If I had to do that, I should have 50+ chars already. Paid transfer is an option sometimes (see 1) but you cannot do that every time you want to play with one of your friends. And hell, I am not paying additional just to be able to play the game the way I want it.

you will find out this is not only a new feature, it is a game-changing feature : imagine this scenario - you want to play a random HC with 1 of your friends on another realm, you invite him to your party (imagine you could), open the LFD tool and click on "Join as party". A nice and gentle message pops up : "This feature requires premium account to be activated ($XX cost). You will now be redirected to Blizzard premium store . ( 9 secs) [OK]". None of the current so called premium features changed anything in the player experience nor did it influence the gameplay.
Pets - OK, no combat capabilities; mounts - sure, why not, I love my Swift Palomino anyway, but turning WoW in some sort of virtual store is game changing.
If this gets implemented, what is to keep Blizzard from adding Premium Vendors ingame (why not) or adding premium items ( Insane Gladiator's Great Sword - 2H Sword - Requires 1800 rating AND PREMIUM ACCOUNT ENABLED)... What is the difference between the official servers and any private WoW server out there ? Many of them already have like 99% working spells and instances (up to WotLK for now, of course) ? What would be next - premium enchants, insta-85-premium tokens ? WTF ...

I know all this looks way off-topic, but what is to stop Blizzard once this gate is opened ? After all, we all agreed and re-aggreed on the EULA every time a new patch comes out.
You should not be able to pay for a service that gives you an edge over other players who did not on the official WoW servers (need a tank ? - I will just grab my friend from the other server, np..)
The only reason I still play on the official realms is .. well its the official thing, and I still have a couple of my old friends playing (everyone else quit after ToC or right after Cata was launched).

If this get implemented, I will most likely quit as well - this would be not the game I started playing long ago.

I don't understand why this is any different than a cell phone bill (paying a base amount, then more for more services), cable bill (you get basic channels, pay for certain ones), or half the other bills I pay.

Well, that was pointless. You should properly uninstall it or you'll just have fragments of folders and registry keys floating around...and icons that don't lead anywhere.

But more on topic, I see that the people against this service are just straight-up saying 'fuck it all' and intentionally opening themselves up to a ban as long as they get to speak their mind before they leave until there's new news.

    1) you're not going to quit

    2) it's not their problem that you struggle to pay your $15 a month warcraft bill...then fine, don't pay the $5 a month extra for this. and you already pay for new content - they're called expansions

    3) having a tank to avoid a 20 minute queue is not "an edge" anymore than saying "mages have an edge because they can travel faster so everyone should get teleport"

I would have no problem with that, because I don't play PTR, I wouldn't pay for it, so why would I be pissed about it?

i would agree to pay for the premium. if it was free to play. cut the monthly sub. fee. but if not the paying to play with friends from another realm sucks and will not pay for that feature
