Cross-Realm Dungeon Feature Coming Soon

Today, we wanted to give you a heads up about a new feature currently in development that will allow players to invite Real ID friends of the same faction to a party regardless of the realm they play on, and then queue up for a 5-player regular or Heroic dungeon.

As this is a fairly complex service to develop, we don’t have a release date to share quite yet. It’s important to note that as with some of the other convenience- and connectivity-oriented features we offer, certain elements of the cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based, though only the player sending the invitations will need to have access to the premium service. We'll have more details to share with you as development progresses -- in the meantime, you may begin to see elements of the feature appear on the World of Warcraft PTR.

Nothing is stopping you from rolling an alt \ sever transferring \ blah blah blah. Sarcasm definitely doesn't translate well through text.

If you really wanted to play with your friends, you would.

    - the monthly fee
    - the pets and mounts from the cash shop
    - trading card packs if you want cool pets or achievements
    - the premium subscription for the auction house
    - the premium subscription for the party invites
Funny, because I was able to get pretty much all the achievements I ever cared about, including 5-man and end-game raiding achievements, simply by buying the expansions and paying my subscription. None of this required server transfers, cross-realm dungeons, or the AH application.

Additionally, if you want the whole experience, you have to pay:

    - multiple accounts if you don't want to be locked in to 1 region
    - multiple accounts if you want to stand a fair chance against multiboxers
    - DirectTV Blizzcon Livestream Premium Fee
    - Blizzcon Tickets massively overpriced because they sell out in 1 second anyway
I'm sorry, but you don't get to experience World of Warcraft on DirecTV or at Blizzcon. The only WoW experience that anyone gets is in books and in-game. You might get to see some previews of things to come, but that's not exactly an experience, is it? Oh, and if multi-boxers are giving you trouble, you should try playing with friends. 4 real people > 1 person multi-boxing 4 people.

And why would you bother playing in another region? I don't like the lag that is involved in crossing the ocean.
Ok, let's say you want to play Guild Wars 2 instead. Then you have to pay for:

    - the base game

    And that's it.
Until they release an expansion. Oh, and let's not forget the reason that more people play WoW than Guild Wars 2 -- WoW is a better product.

So Blizzard acknowledges players are leaving their MMO due to lack of value, oh what will they do? Add more premium options that add virtually nothing to the game other than decreasing its value even more for the majority of the playerbase.
People are leaving because they are no longer interested in the game. I've stopped playing because I don't like the time investment required by raiding -- I'd rather spend time with RL friends. Despite that, I know that this is a solid game with great value.

yup. i dont really care enough to pay for this, but the fact that its a premium feature dont bother me at all. most of my friends are on my server anyway. Raiding cross realm would be OP and legit.

    Exactly my thoughts....

I though we already payed them for patches and new features? like the subscription we all pay? Or did you find a way to play for free?

Been thinking about this. I don't want to pay a premium for in-game features.

Yes I pay for expansions. Thing is, everyone pays for the expansions. We're all in Cata right now with the same in-game features. They keep this up and we'll have fragmented features with various players having different levels of access to premium content. The player base will be divided among what they can or cannot do based on how much Blizzard has milked them for.

    AHAHAHAHA......PREMIUM.......HAHAHAHAHAHA....

Its like a Free mmo and a paid mmo put together!

Either way unless they add more stuff I can't see it being used often

Screw paying. I already pay 15 a month.

So yeah there probably are a lot of logistical issues with that.

Just because it doesn't seem like it should cost anything to implement a feature like this doesn't mean that it doesn't have huge costly problems associated with them.
I flat-out don't believe that's the case though. I don't believe it's a hard or costly change at all compared to stuff like the original implementation of dungeon finder, the maybe-some-day implementation of actual BoA items, or Real ID itself.

And even if I'm wrong on that, it's not the kind of thing they should create, and then make into a premium service.

this is absolutely ridiculous.. "premium" features should only be on something like a F2P MMO, why would they make us pay MORE? Cause they want to suck us dry of money before the 600k subs they lost turns into 2 million?

This is why I stopped playing 3 months ago.

Did you need this service before or did you get along without it? Oh, you got along without it? Good, you can continue getting along without it.

I'm not wealthy either, which is why I wouldn't spend money on this service. That doesn't make Blizzard greedy, though.

Here, I'll tell you what: Go ask your car insurer to start providing you health insurance as well -- and it should be free, because you're not wealthy and, really, your car insurance should include health insurance.

Pretty shameful making something like this a paid service, this is the kind of support i expect with my monthly fees.

First Premium at desk in-game service ?
its the beginning of the end of the game as we know it.
Next step will be Premium service for transferring BOA's cross realm.

You stopped playing 3 months ago because you can't stop yourself from spending money on premium services? I mean, that's the only way anyone could possibly interpret your post. If you weren't paying for those services, you wouldn't really have anything to complain about.

I mean, I know I haven't been complaining about the paid services that I'm not paying for.

I doubt wow has many more players in western countries then GW2 will have. It isn't out yet and most of wows' subscribers (note:SUBSCRIBERS not people) live in china. Also you can't claim that wow is better product based on that. You can just claim that blizzard is seen as more respected company. The quality of game isn't the only reason people play it, but there are other reasons like friends and fear of change.
