Cross-Realm Dungeon Feature Coming Soon

Today, we wanted to give you a heads up about a new feature currently in development that will allow players to invite Real ID friends of the same faction to a party regardless of the realm they play on, and then queue up for a 5-player regular or Heroic dungeon.

As this is a fairly complex service to develop, we don’t have a release date to share quite yet. It’s important to note that as with some of the other convenience- and connectivity-oriented features we offer, certain elements of the cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based, though only the player sending the invitations will need to have access to the premium service. We'll have more details to share with you as development progresses -- in the meantime, you may begin to see elements of the feature appear on the World of Warcraft PTR.

For all of you who said blizzard is about quality service...quality means done right. If they're going to make us pay for a service that is easily implentable with all this cross realm crap then make us pay for it...

I'm sorry I dont pay for services that takes a flip of a switch on top of the 15$ a month payment already. You guys act like people are on the same level of financial society with you. Cheap as always blizzard

    - the base game
    - the expansions: WotLK, TBC, Cataclysm
    - the monthly fee
    - the pets and mounts from the cash shop
    - trading card packs if you want cool pets or achievements umm... you do know you DONT need to buy the pets to be able to obtain the pet achivement... besides wtf do achievement pts do? prove that you have nothing better to do with your time? This is such a stupid argument that i am shocked. Same can be said for mounts
    - the premium subscription for the auction house this feature is so pointless that i dont even know why blizz has it... if you cant wait to log in to check the ah there is something seriously wrong with you
    - the premium subscription for the party invites Dont want it? Dont pay it. nuff said

Additionally, if you want the whole experience, you have to pay:

    - multiple accounts if you don't want to be locked in to 1 region really? in order to have a "whole" experience you need to have characters on every single international region? do they have different raid content there or something? what is is the point of having characters on more then one region? pretty sure you are just looking for random crap to QQ about
    - multiple accounts if you want to stand a fair chance against multiboxers umm what?... if someone is mulitiboxing the key to beating them is NOT multiboxing as well. this is .... i am speechless
    - DirectTV Blizzcon Livestream Premium Fee why should this be free? no really tell me why should this be free? sigh i really hope this new feature pisses you off enough to stop playing cuz you sound like bundle of joy to be around
    - Blizzcon Tickets massively overpriced because they sell out in 1 second anyway i guess blizzard should be sorry it has such a massive fan base o_0

Ok, let's say you want to play Guild Wars 2 instead. Then you have to pay for:

    - the base game

    And that's it.

So Blizzard acknowledges players are leaving their MMO due to lack of value,oh what will they do? Add more premium options that add virtually nothing to the game other than decreasing its value even more for the majority of the playerbase. where exactly does blizzard acknowledge this? its only natural that a game that has been out for so long start to loose players. and 600k out of 12mil is nothing. players get burned out. i know of some that have been playing since day 1 and finally said "hey i have spent years playing this game, maybe i should go do something else" what value (aside from novelty) did Vanilla have that Cata doesnt? and dont you dare say "community" because its tools like you that have destroyed this community
are you missing a chromosome or something?... no seriously? i am not trying to insult you i am just trying to figure out how can someone be so ignorant . refer to blue text in the quote above. also I am 98% certain that remote chat, ah, and this new service will be bundled together. it doesnt mean that you will have to pay fees for all of those things separately.

But you are still getting exactly what you have paid for. This is extra, and not in any way required to allow you to continue to use their product exactly as you always have. It's not new content. It is not a gameplay effecting feature. Where was all this outrage 6 years ago when SOE was charging an additional $2.50 a moth to access new zones in EQ2?

Soooo, $1400 take off 60 dollars for each expansion. So you've been playing for about 6.75 years. 1400 across 6.75 years is nothing.

Let's assume you went to theatre every night, on cheap night and orders the popcorn / drink combo.

    Ticket: 3.99
    Popcorn combo: 23.99

Once a month for 6.75 years is 2266.38.

    WoW is pretty cheap compared.

inb4 "GW is free". I'd rather pay 14.99 a superior product.

What you fail to acknowledge is that other games still manage to do just fine without charging you for any of these premium services or for that matter even charging a fee. And insulting my chromosomes (did they just teach you that in school?) is not going to change that.

Wow, just wow. I see the first thing and think, finally I can play with my friends who are scattered around the realms, we can all get together and have a laugh doing some heroics.

Then "Premium service". F*** you Blizzard, just f*** you. What next, really? This is just money grabbing now, "if you want to group with your friends, pay us on top of the normal fee". I could understand the remote services, a separate application was needed for that. But this? In game service?

    Shove it Blizzard. End of.

and you act like you are so familiar with their server and coding infrastructure that you know exactly what is required on their end to implement this. But you really have no clue, so stuff it.

    This is game changing?

We pay money for the game, yet we must pay more to see it improved?

The sub fee's we pay is being spent on a service that you will have to pay MORE for, which is quite disrespectful for a community which has stuck with Blizzard for years.

I think alot of you are confusing account turnover with number of lost subscriptions. WoW didn't only lose 600k subscribers this quarter, they lost OVER A MILLION but gained less than 1/2 of it back in new subscribers. In order to make up those lost subscriptions with a premium based service(Let's say they're gonna charge $3 a month like mobile ah/gchat), they would have to sell this new premium service to 3 million subscriptions. Anyone should know this is folly because the real number of players is actually in the 6-7 million range. The 11.4-12 million number they tout so highly is active subscriptions and doesn't include players with multiple accounts, so in order to make this service pay for the lost subscriptions they have to sell this service to almost half of the player base. Not going to happen.

Guild Wars does it for free, so it really cannot be that hard.

On another note, I am a server programmer so I know pretty well what's involved in making such a distributed system work.

Well that means they don't have to realease any new features at all, or could ask money for everything they add, since it's extra, I have no problem with TRH/TRL, or minipets, since they do not affect the game at all. I would prefer server transfers to be free, but that would mean they should limit them in another way since people would just hop constantly. It also doesn't affect gameplay directly.

I can't see how you think this doesn't affect gameplay.
    I didn't play eq2 myself so can't answer that

While agree the paid part is stupid, if they are that great of friends, play on the same server. Blizzard in no way has to even offer this as a paid service.

Being able to invite other people is a pretty basic feature of any game. Why should you be restricted in using such a simple element of the game?
