Cross-Realm Dungeon Feature Coming Soon

Today, we wanted to give you a heads up about a new feature currently in development that will allow players to invite Real ID friends of the same faction to a party regardless of the realm they play on, and then queue up for a 5-player regular or Heroic dungeon.

As this is a fairly complex service to develop, we don’t have a release date to share quite yet. It’s important to note that as with some of the other convenience- and connectivity-oriented features we offer, certain elements of the cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based, though only the player sending the invitations will need to have access to the premium service. We'll have more details to share with you as development progresses -- in the meantime, you may begin to see elements of the feature appear on the World of Warcraft PTR.

But you're not currently paying for the ability to play with your friends on other servers without leaving your server. Blizzard never promised to let you do this. They never will. So, entitlement.

Which one? FFXI was 11 to start and 1 per CID, so uh...on the WoW scale, that's like 15 for 5.

I can't even remember FFXIV, I didn't play long enough to have to pay...it was that bad.

This isn't just about friends you already know. This is about meeting people in the RDF and wanting to group with them again. I added this tank to my realID back in wrath. Now I could actually group with him...oh but for a price of course. It's absurd, I'm sorry but it really is and I'm "pretty" sure a lot of people feel the same way as I do. If this goes live, we will quit. Yeah, I am entitled. I feel this is something that should come from my subscription fee. I don't care about that sparkly horse, I don't care for the pets, I don't care for the remote AH or guild chat, and I understand that all of the current premium features (transfer etc.) have a price because they can affect the game in negative ways. This cannot affect the game in a negative way, it can only make it better - and so this takes the cake.

You can sit here and defend this all you want, you will not change my mind. The question is, just how big of a hit will this cause to Blizzard, and will it be worth it? You want more money Blizzard? Give those retards with money more pets and mounts.

I don't understand why people are so upset that its a premium service. I mean, are you all really that hard up for cash? I'm really sick and tired of people freaking out over pocket change, im sure it will be like $3-$5 a month. Big whoop. I'm not by any means rich, but people act like a few bucks is like life or death. I've paid for 2 wow accounts for almost 7 years now in November, done about 15 server transfers, 6 or 7 faction changes, and 2-3 race changes. All in all thats about $3000 of my dollars in blizzards pocket, and I am happy with all their service.

Blizzard lost that department called the "unintended consequence department". I'll put money on it right now guilds will start selling runs.
Yeah would be easy 'HC geared tank selling runs. Just use the global message thing to advertise to anyone who's added you - need 3 dps for HC 200g per spot'

Tanks would quite literally be able to buy gold lol.

Someone needs to make a poll on peoples opinions over this.

This sort of thing should, and really must be included with the monthly fee.

Blizzard have expanded their game a lot since the early days, and yet the month fee remains the same. I think a lot of people forget that fact. The main issue I have here though, is that Blizzard is going to charge you, to play with friends. Surely that is something which should've been involved with RealID from the start, and for free.

I can understand they need to cover the costs of this project, and Blizzard must have many money-sinks in their company, but I just don't see this as such a difficult feature, that it'll require a premium service to buy.

It's good to see that Blizzard doesn't have to explain these things themselves anymore. The playerbase is more than willing to do so while forking out the money.

People saying that people will use this to sell runs forget the whole "You can't trade items\gold with people from other servers." thing.

I can see blizzard charging me about the cost of a happy meal for this, bastards!

    Lmao you cheap gits.

Aren't your friends worth you having one less cheeseburger a month? =D
If I was going to stick it out and support Blizzard in this screwed up pay + microtransactions for play feature, you can bet to hell that I'd be charging people cash money to my paypal account to tank for them.

It is going to backfire trust me without a doubt. Kiss your server economies goodbye. If I was a RMT seller this would be a gold mine. Only way to make this work without horribly back firing is to make it so you can not trade in instances?

I have no played WoW in awhile, but I am sure you can still do that right? Some people are about make some serious cash if this goes live.

Here is what I find scary. Is this what it will take for Blizzard to stay competitive? Services that other game have for free are now "premium"? dye you armor..sure just get premium....record youtube videos..sure just go premium

I don't know about you but I've been paying $15 a month to have full unlimited access to a game I used to love so I could play it on my terms, when I wanted to, with people I wanted to and not have smucks like you willing to shell out an extra $3 a month everytime they released a new dual spec feature, or a new premium raid. Your $15 a month is supposed to cover all additional content and game features for the duration of the expansion. Making this a pay service when this is base gameplay in all modern games is a joke, and you're a fool for supporting this kind of bourgeoisie capitalism.

They're going to backpedal on this or it will be disastrous for them.

And who cares? I have no need for nickles and dimes. People need to quit being penny pinchers. And if you think the premium service is stupid, dont pay for it! Problem solved. Playing with friends on another server has NEVER been an option in WoW. How can you possibly demand its free?

P.S. Blizz is a great company, but you have to remember its Activision-blizzard

So, you're paying $15 for unlimited server transfers \ faction changes too?

I've paid for server transfers 3 times in the last 6 years of gameplay and I can tell you unequivocally that 2 of those transfers were a complete waste of my time and money and one of them was to transfer a character back to it's original server. Ever since the last realm transfer I've always leveled new characters from scratch because it always left me the option of going back. So yes, for all intensive purposes I have been paying $!5 a month for unlimited server transfers and faction changes.

Those services do not alter gameplay. This services does and why it's against everything Blizzard used to stand for before Vivendi bought them out and merged them with Activision. This is not the game I invested my time and money in and I and many other players are done with this game if this goes live. They won't make a dime off this service, I promise you. It'll be more red ink for them and more pay features for you.

Even better lol. Your subs would be paid in no time. Whilst you're probably not going to get rich of it, people would probably pay a small fee to you to skip the queues.

Now that is a premium service XD

Now someone just needs to set up a rent-a-group website where people can advertise services and leave ratings lol.

$3 for HC geared tank or buy our special deluxe service - 4 HC geared players to steamroller the instance with you in 20 minutes and all the loot you can carry for only $10!

Kids you no longer need your paper round
