Update - For the record, the international codes 009 and 041 only seems to appear on Blizzard's online games trademarks. This isn't a book or anything like that. It appears incredibly likely based on previous trademarks obtained by Blizzard that this is the next expansion.

Mists of Pandaria
Blizzard just trademarked a very interesting "Mists of Pandaria".

Not pand-DARE-en. Its driving me crazy. Its supposed to be a play on the Chinese word Manderin which happens to also be a place in Asia.

It is pronounced "Panda - ren"

Like other posters have said it is a play off the word "Panda" and the Chinese Mandarin word "Ren" which means person or people. Thus "Panda People" or "Panda Ren" - Pandaren.

No matter how much people complain they will still buy it if its the expansion, so i don't understand the whole bad attitude thing towards it. If it's the next expansion, that's awesome! There is no telling what's going to happen (though i know change and different has never been the normal wow consumer's strong point) or it won't be the expansion, (doubt it though) and it will be some other game/phone app. Either way you people complaining will probably buy it anyway. So why fuss about it.

Of course they want to be miserable. They are WOW players and hate everything. Don't waste your time.

Is there any chance this could be something as lame as a facebook game? I know it has the same codes as the previous expansions but I'm not 100% convinced.

Seriously?. I dont mean to be negative...but some of you either need to learn your lore, or use your eyes a little more lol.

People have a problem with Pandaren being a playable race for one faction?. Because...the expansion would potentially be called "Mists of Pandaria". Hmmk.

NEWSFLASH. The CONTINENT is called Pandaria, the race is called Pandaren. I play as Horde, and have no problem if the Alliance get the Pandaren in an expansion called Mists of Pandaria. As long as we the horde get a race of equivilent awesomenss that resides on the...CONTINENT...of Pandaria. lol.

Either that, or as people have pointed out, give both the horde and Alliance the option to play as a Pandaren.

The main issues as pointed out so far in the thread is PvP Sillhouettes etc. This is easily solvable in my opinion. Why not give the Alliance the traditional 5-6 foot tall Pandaren, peaceful Brewmasters etc. And give the Horde a different Caste of Pandaren, the Warrior sect which are physically larger or more rugged in appearance, different fur tones etc. Hell, why not make them a different race of Bear that arent Panda.

Its easily workable into the lore, as we know Blizzard likes to refresh or twist existing Canon Lore to fit game criteria.

I personally would love to see (if this is actually an expansion, and not something else, or a redherring), Pandarens in some form as a playable race, or as a Hero race for both Factions.

There is definitely enough to create an expansion based on Pandaria, or the other side of the Azerothian ocean.

I for one am optimistic! ^_^

But it still is a big game and above all else it is an online game which has never been seen on any portable console by my knowing. But if they could achieve it, i would be very happy and won't hesitate to buy or download it.
Ummm, it would be a spinoff /smack

Also to the guy above me, if you see this the Horde have closer ties with the pandas than alliance do, pandas are like the goblins, neutral but they kinda like the horde more. unless they pull a blood elf stunt or something

I am pretty sure it's already been clearly stated that we would not be able to play as pandaren. I am PRETTY sure they have clearly stated this infinite times in the past 6 years. I am fairly certain that they would not name an expansion after one of the factions' races. You would likely never see "Adventures In Kezan" or "Long Live Velen" as an expansion title. This infers that the Pandaren nation of Pandaria would be a cornerstone of the expansion... Which, in turn, suggests a focus on the South Isles, Azshara, and beyond. It is not that difficult to piece together. Calm down, drama queens.

IF it's true then there's going to be major lore changes to make them allied with the Alliance or the Horde.
IF Pandaren becoms playable they'd either have to add another race or have pandaren be like DKs and you simply join one or another (you obv choose in character creation in character views.)

Also we already have 12 races and 10 classes. They could add Pandaren only and have it be like DKs but only a new starter zone, models, city and maybe some lore changed isnt much work for a expansion which makes me think they'll add Pandaren and a Pandaren class with it.
    The known Pandaren "classes" are:
-Munk. Probabbly going to be like a priest rogue mix (from diversity of spells, from holy/divine abilties to fast brutal melee attacks.)
-Brewmaster. Specialist in potions and poisons. Could be a DPS/Tank spec since from Lore brewmasters aren't known as either magical or agile, they're tough and burly.

There are other "jobs" that pandaren is known to have through lore but none of them seem to be likely to add to a character class because of the simellar gameplay with existing classes.

It's been my opinion for years now that World of warcraft needs another heal/dps hybrid, or even a heal/dps/tank hybrid.
I can see munks being healers and dps and brewmasters being tank and dps, since we got dks (dps + tank) as a previous hero class i think it's very likely that we'll see a healer/dps or healer/dps/tank class when and if they add a new class.

As a racial the things that would make sence from lore and warcraft games would be something like a activate crit chance increase, maybe like troll racial but gives crit instead. Either that or "drunken rage" - You heal/damage 15% more for 8seconds but your haste is reduced by 50% (healers) and chance to hit is reduced by 4% (melee and 8.5% (caster dps)

I like double edge racials, should be some disadvantages to some racials. Stoneform for instance could slow you down for the duration since you turn into stone. Will of the forsaken could make you miss the next attack. Bloodrage (orc) could make you loose 10% of your BASE hp (around 4-5k health). Warstomp could make you unable to move for a second since you're stomping the ground hard. Shadowmeld could make you take 5% extra damage while you're in shadowmeld (if they find you you're punished) Darkflight (worgen) after the runspeed you get tired and have to catch your breath, reduces movement speed by 10%

List can go on and on but some racials seem too good no to have any drawbacks, human racial for instance is very strong in pvp but doesn't have any drawbacks.
Think alot more people would choose their character carefully and more importaintly use their racials smart and not just to do it. Also adding some drawbacks to the racials would make it alot more fun to see who knows to use it and who doesn't know.

and why do some ppl keep thiking about things like oh they be neutral... no race every be neutral we all have to chooce when we roll
As I have said before. We have NO IDEA what there is at Pandaria. Pandarans have become an actual role in World of Warcraft. They have their own lore and some players take them seriously. They were even in Warcraft III. What they started out as is irrelevant. Its what they have become.

If it is the next expansion, and they have Pandaren, why do people assume they'll be a playable race that can change factions? The Vrykul, Tuskarr, Taunka, Gorloc and Wolvar all came with Wotlk and none of them ended up playable.

If both horde and alliance will end up helping / joining the pandaren it's more likely that they'd be a group of Neutral NPCs, even if it is an expansion with their name in the title. Not that i don't want playable pandarens! Would be awesome. (and Nerubians)

This is...quite a turn of events. Going to be really hit or miss for me. I hope they can tie in enough existing stuff to keep it all relevant. If they pull this off well I will begin laughing for hours. Then again I should look at myself, a fat chicken that drops stars on people to kill them. It can't get much more rediculous, can it?

Yeah i thought this also initially. However, Wotlk introduced the Death Knight class. Doing something different from BC (Which introduced Draenei and Blood elves) and keeping the player base interested by doing something a bit different.

Cata comes out. Repeats the same progression as BC, new races, no new classes. If MOP does turn out to be WoW expansion, i for one would like to see them do both in one swoop. Pandaren as a playable race, with a Hero Class (Brewmaster) Rolled into it. Or even Pandaren as the hero class.

Either way, Pandaren in the game is something i have wanted to see for a while. NPC or playable. I just feel at the end of the day, Blizzard need to impress us with something a bit different than following a formulaic progression in terms of Race/Hero class releases.
