I think you are underestimating it. People will ask whatever they think is worth $10. You are not going to buy a pet for $10 and then sell it on the AH for 100g. There is no other reason for buying this pet and selling it on the AH than making gold so you will always get the highest price there is. They will even become more expensive when a new expansion is released and goldincome goes up.

Doing a quick googlesearch this pet will cost something like 10k-20k gold since goldsellers sell 1k gold for € 0,50 or $1. I don't think it will go under 5k because it would make no sense or you are really desperate or just stupid or really really scared to get banned when buying gold illegally.
Especially at the beginning the prices will be high and there are plenty of people who have tons of gold (gold cap) and think 15k is nothing for a pet. They make 15k gold faster than making $10 in real life.

First of all i'm not raging, but i guess you didn't referring to me in the first place, anyway.
I'm most against the "legal way to do it" since it was clearly stated numerous times that Blizzard won't sell anything beside cosmetically items for real cash.
And yes technically does not selling gold for cash but it's giving a direct way to acquire gold through cash.
It's essentially the same with TGC but removing the "luck" factor from it, it's more like
"Here buy a deck of cards for cash that will always have a card which you can sell in game for gold"

I'm not really worry about hte specific but more for "what's next" to me it's clearly an experiment to check how and if an RMAH would work in WoW and also a kind of "beta test" for Diablo III RMAH.

And of course i could be wrong again, just saying my opinion.

Who is raging? Disagreeing is not raging.

Now it's just one item. Over time it will be ten items or even more. Before you know it you can actually buy gold from the online shop. If you think this is fine then good for you.
You can say I am overreacting but when they started selling mounts for real money a lot of people predicted this would happen and now it does. At some point everyone is buying gold because it's legal anyway and gold becomes worthless and not everyone wants to spend real money to buy gold to buy something in a videogame.

It's not a big deal now with just one pet but it's a start.

One thing though. While the number of pets available is unlimited, the number of actual buyers (per server) is fairly limited.
Yes, most people have alts, but then a fairly large amount of players do not care for pets at all.

I think the problem was that too many people were spending on pets rather than too little (subs down, net income up).

I work and play wow. I have 60k+ gold and 110 pets. Will i spend real money in the pet store... No. Would i spend 10-20k on the pet ... Prolly not. Do i see the need for this pet, no. But i dont think its a bad thing. Mellow out guys, jeesh

Yes, but that's now. Next time they release more tradeable pets for all we know.

These pets will be more successfull (for Blizzard) because they can now sell them for ingame gold. So there will be more to come.

I don't think this pet will sell less than 5.000-7.000 gold, if prices get too low people that want to sell them won't buy it, but when prices will rise they will get them again and put them on the market.

yeah just that. The other pets from the shop were cool because you got them on every char on the account when you added the code to it. This one is just super stupid You buy a pet for the same amount as the others and get it only on ONE of your chars ofc you can send it to alts or so but you have actually buy one for each alt (or buy from ah gg) stupid move blizz

Edit: BTW don´t see the ah prices above 1k or so maybe 100-500g after a few weeks.

Shame the pet is so crap though, cant see it making any more than 20g. Its a matter of time before BoE epics appear on store.

I'd like to see a boycott on this type of thing to show them we aint putting up with this crap, but 99% of the wow community is spineless, so its a pointless idea.

This isn't new gold that is just dumped onto a server, anyone buying one of these is spending gold they've taken the time to get.

I dont see anything wrong with this at all. People obviously have the need for this sort of crap ingame and Blizzard is providing those who need.
For a "small" fee that is. Now personally I would never spend 10 bucks on a silly looking pet or mount of any visual aspect in a video game that has no value at all, but thats just me.

If they actually are so many people willing to spend money on something dumb as a companion pet or ingame gold, or even epic gear then why should Blizzard not provide? As long as the same items are obtainable through playing the game, and earning them i simply dont care much about it.

A simple model like this is made in only a few hours time. The huge amount of provit comming from this could be spend in improving the actual game, or spend on new titles. Gz to Blizzard on some good marketing. Wish I was smart enough to come up with this kind of money income.
