MMO-Champion - Items - New Class Restrictions 12/13/2011
Update - The Community Managers also posted about this change.

As a part of the on-going evaluation of Looking For Raid and the loot system, we have recently implemented a change to the Looking For Raid Need Plus system. Weapons, trinkets, rings, neck pieces, shields, offhand items, and the Robe of Glowing Stone are now class-restricted to their intended users. With the speed at which a Raid Finder group moves through a zone, we’ve found that it makes it challenging for players to evaluate loot decisions – by class restricting these items, we hope that the natural behavior will have a more positive set of results for everyone involved. This change will not apply to normal or heroic raid or dungeon loot rules.

Raid Finder and Need Plus are both very new systems, and we’re working to iterate on these systems rapidly to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience as we learn more about how players are using the system. Please keep in mind that this system is not considered complete and we have further plans to improve upon it within Mists of Pandaria.

If you looted an item from Looking for Raid which replaced another and you need Game Master assistance to recover your old item, please place a petition with the new item name, that you can no longer use it - and the old item name you need restored. For more information on the affected items, please visit the Customer Support forums here- http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3729953854#1

We apologize for the inconvenience.

    See, that just seems mean.

But here is what I find interesting about your argument:

People that complain about not having adequate gear choices are annoying. This hunter is complaining about gear choices. Hunters are annoying. I mean, priests have even less choices.

    Which would imply...

But about the statement on priests and their gear upgradeability:

Robes of Dying Light - Chest - 410
    Woundlicker Cover - Back - 410
    Splinterfoot Sandals - Feet - 410
    Signet of Suturing - Ring - 410
Ring of the Riven - Ring - 410
Gloves of Dying Light - Hands - 410
Cowl of Dying Light - Head - 410
Legwraps of Dying Light - Legs - 410
Visage of the Destroyer - Staff - 410
Mantle of Dying Light - Shoulders - 410
    Heart of Unliving - Trinker - 416
Reflection of the Light - 410
    Vesta's Irrepressible Girdle - Waist - 410
Bracers of the Black Dream - Wrist - 410
    Scintillating Rods - Wand - 410

This seems like more than half. I hope this helps.

But on the earlier statement about Hunters not having two high level rings... you're incorrect. Signet of Grasping Mouths. A second choice that does not have expertise.

I hope the two of you weren't using item level 384 loot from LFR as the sole basis of your argument for their being not upgrade options beyond 397.

This is a great change! But anyone else think it's weird only priests and druids can roll need of the off-hand? Sure us shaman and paladins can use shields but we can use off-hands as well. Sucks they are limiting us in this way.

As I never raid can someone tell me what 'need plus' is?

Retroactively changing the existing weapons was a bit stupid, there were a few people bitching in trade last night. Apparently some Shaman who got the dagger (why they want it is their problem, most likely they had nothing better at the time) could no longer use their weapons.

It warms my heart knowing that the trinket needed and won by that n00b DK is now useless to him....

For all the people who want this to be by spec, 90% of the time you cant even look at another persons talents in game without it picking up someone else and showing their talents...Inspect a holy Paladin and there is a feral druid near by you will see that persons talents. Cant see people gear either but thats another issue. This has been going on since dual spec was put in the game in wrath I believe. Probably earlier but its the earliest I can remember seeing this bug.

I have no confidence they will be able to give loot by spec until they fix this OLD OLD bug.

Silly question. Does anyone knows if someone can roll on an item that he already has or does he automatically pass?

Just wondering, why doesn't Blizzard make a little bit more advance Role check as soon as you get in your LFR group with the spec you are in.

It's just one more button for Class with Melee Agi and Spellcaster.

    Doesn't sound to hard.

It's unfortunate people care so little for other players that they had to do this. But it's a good fix. I hope they make it more spec-specific later, but this is a good fix for now.

Personally, I'd have gone ahead and made LFR drops aside from one-handers unique to further nail it down, but maybe that's just me <_<

Now I know you wont reply, cause you're ashamed, but think first before posting next time. Don't just copy stuff from wowhead, because stuff isn't necessarily in the game. Just because it exists, doesn't mean it's available.

Hopefully by the time mists comes out it can determine spec.

I doubt the terrible DKs running round with Kiril will even notice it's gone. They'll just run round unarmed until some other item drops and the dice light up again...
