Access to 5.0.1 PTR and Mists of Pandaria Beta
Patch 5.0.1 is right around the corner on test realms! It also means that the release of MoP isn't too far either.

We encourage all players who wish to test patch 5.0.1 with us to take careful note of the following:

  • It will not be possible to access the 5.0.1 PTR realms with a game account that accesses the Mists of Pandaria Beta.
  • If a game account has been flagged with a Mists of Pandaria Beta license, it can only be used to enter Beta realms.
  • This limitation is on each World of Warcraft license, and is not Battle.net account-based.
  • While testing 5.0.1, players will not be able to access zones or content that is a part of the Mists of Pandaria expansion.

Thank you for your continued support of our testing and tuning process. We look forward to seeing you in-game.

As far as i know, any account that WAS active at any time can play in the ptr and use the premade character copys. Even if it is now frozen.

I am not sure if this goes for free to play accounts but i assume it wouldn't.

Pre expansion PTRs were 63, 61 and 86 days long for the last 3 expansion. I bet it will be a little shorter since the actual pre-patch will be only ~2 weeks long and that is much shorter than previous ones. 1 more point for end of august/first week of sept release.

Can't wait! Took about 3 months from when 4.0.1 was available on the PTR till the cata release date. Here's hoping they speed up the development process.

I don't understand why they still haven't announced the date, they must know what it is by now..

Since they are still in the middle of some not insignificant gameplay changes on the beta, it would be very stupid of them to give you a date.

What'd I'd like to ask is how long is a pre-launch patch on the ptr before it goes live, if any reasonable average can be deduced from past events. We already know that release is about 2 weeks after 5.0 is released on Live, so with a little math here and there, maybe we can come up with a better estimate.

So never mind, I realize he meant that the ptr stuff makes it onto live, as opposed to the ptr you know, coming out. Ignore my post
9/11 is irrelevant to this game

That's not the reason, they couldn't care less about that.

It's all about hyping your product, you as a company have the date, but they people don't, so you keep giving them hints to keep them excited and talking about the product. If they gave you the date, there wouldn't be much of a hype, it would last a few weeks, but that's it. Why you think Apple doesn't announce their new products that much in time? To keep their costumers and outsiders hyped.

They will only announce a release date when they feel there is basically no chance for anything to delay it.

Hmm, I guess people who have access to the beta should still be able to use the PTR, as the beta license in your battle.net account is separate from your main account. That is, you may connect to the live realms with WoW1, but your beta license is WoW2 (or similar).

True, but very relevant to PR for the company. Blizzard wouldn't look too good in the public eye if people were anticipating that date for the release.

Am I the only one that read the blue post as "use one PTR account to log into beta and use the other PTR account for the PTR?" I have PTR 1 and PTR 3 under my game license. PTR 3 is my beta access. So PTR 1 is my PTR account, I think.

People with annual pass can still get on the PTR.

Look at your battle.net accounts. MoP beta is PTR WoW 2, at least for me. I still have a PTR WoW 1 account. Just login with the WoW 1 ptr account and you should be able to get into it.

The fact that the game may release on Sept. 11 is irrelevant. It's not even a federal holiday (although, in my eyes, it should be). Also, remember...Cataclysm came out on Pearl Harbor Day.

Generally, as I have found from the past pre-expansion PTR's, they are on the PTR for about 1 month and then a month after they go live, the expansion does. So, that means somewhere around 2 months left. Maybe 3 months.
