Yes, we "get" this. This thread is about whether we liked the cinematic or not, not whether we like the expansion. Some people ... gasp ... might be excited about the expansion, yet dissipation in the cinematic because, like you said, it isnt really representative of the game.
You are right that is the mentality of the human and orc up until the end of the cinematic. Chen comes along and shows them that going down that road will just lead to their ruin. Heck it even hints at there being a mutual understanding (not necessarily liking) between the two factions later on in the expansion. I am just puzzled on why people can't 'read between the lines' in the cinematic instead of looking at it blindly.

Also you can take it as a personal insult if you wish. I honestly don't care.

By the time you have experienced about half of the quests in Pandaria, I hope you have abandoned your naive notion that the Pandaren are some race of cavemen that have never experienced war or acts of cruelty in their past. They have been subjugated more harshly than the Horde and Alliance have ever done to each other. They have simply reached a different conclusion on how to address it.

The sad part... is that ppl that played for last 7 years or so.. seem to be fighting with sticks. Lacks all the new spells they can do ... oh wait... some classes have actually lost more than they have gained... Check !
Because the two NPCs shown don't represent any player class in game? Would it have been better if the Orc did Bladestorm and the Human popped Avenging Wrath all the while the Monk sat in back using Spinning Crane Kick?

That's the problem. People are saying that because the cinematic 'sucks', the expansion 'sucks', and will be 'childish and kiddy'.
I dunno, but last time I watched Bear's Big Blue House, I didn't see a troll getting his eyes ripped out and bleeding everywhere.

    Perfect ^^
    I agree. That was epic.

I have to say that has to be the best trailer yet. It was AMAZING!!! I loved the humor. The calmness of the Panda, the looks on the human and orc's faces. Priceless. Brute strength doesn't always win fights. I was very entertained and more than pleasantly surprised. Great work by Blizzard. I wasn't going to touch a Panda or monk with a 10 foot pole but I think I will now!

Why all the haters and complainers are still playing the game and coming to a forum dedicated to WoW is beyond me.

And then again, since when disney comedy is required in order to present pandaria?

Did you notice in the older cinematics the very cartoonish sheep the mage makes or the warlock casting hellfire on the murlocs? Comic relief isn't new to WoW. You just saw Pandas and comic relief and decided to comment negatively on it. Its cool, don't deny it. You're entitled to that opinion. Just remember that there's always more to something than you may be waxing about.

Although that would make me laugh harder than the cinematic at around 2:30 mark.

Can I say this is honestly my favorite cinematic? The expressions and movements of the characters are just so perfect and hell, I love some good martial arts.

That would have maybe gotten some of the old guys more exited. Go look at TBC trailer and see how it represents whats coming for every class. This.... does not. It seems like the only goal is to get 12 year olds to play pandas.

I think people after having played the franchise for as long as some of us have, and especially having played MMOs and video games for much, much longer than the time in WoW, that developing a fairly accurate depiction and opinion of a game based on a few hours of play/a few trailers is of little to no difficulty. When my guildmates and I played SW:TOR for the beta while we were still raiding in Rift, it took us all of about an afternoon to fully determine just how god awful that game (as an MMO) was going to be. Well sonuvabitch it's now going monthly subscription-less so it can actually keep and draw players into it. So do not try to tell me that after all of my years spent playing games near religiously that I am not qualified to determined if a game is going to be terrible.

i really enjoyed it and the atmosphere it set up. made me get hyped for the expansion. the cataclysm cinematic was more lackluster to me.

You can determine all you want, it's going to be your opinion, nothing more.

Fortunately, all of the people who adore the hell out of the misses are still playing the game littered with them.
This truly begs the question...if you hate all things Blizzard so much, why are you continuing to frequent a website and forums dedicated to their products? Not saying you don't have every right to do so, but I (and most people I know) tend to avoid things that we dislike as much as possible. We certainly don't go out of our way to frequent places that feature the things we hate.

For example, I think most children's programming that is on air today is garbage compared to what I watched as a child. But you don't see me going to a spongebob website to preach about how terrible it is. I just avoid that corner of the internet.

It just seems like you are setting yourself up for a very bitter, angry existence.

I think you are forgetting that WOW is allowed for kids down to 12 year olds. And Blizzard lost alot of faith with their long term players in Cata. Best to start over again and hold hands with new kids rather than keep the older ones happy.

Only thing is... parents don't like to pay sub fees... so F2P and GW2 will probably take most of the market away from WOW.

Not saying it wasn't great but i was kinda hoping on seeing the Skyfire attack some Horde ships or something or shooting eachother , and a glimpse of the Theramore thing and the summ up of ''New things'' in the expansion at the end of the trailer.

Visually stunning but in terms of trailer content im still mixxed.

What happens? Both Horde and Alliance get effed over and nearly die. Why do they fight? Then you have the Pandaren who are thrown into all this. They don't want to fight, hell, when you get to the end of the Jade Forest quest line, their unwillingness to fight leads to the destruction of the Jade Serpent and countless deaths. What is worth fighting for? Seriously, play the game a bit, everything makes much more sense if you actually pay attention.
And herein lies the problem for me... I expected the expansion to be about all-out war between the factions... stupid, senseless, devastating and splitting the Pandas into factions - but epic. And the trailer sells me something completely different…

And since I haven’t played the beta (those that have would not decide on a trailer/review/friends advice whatever, they would decide on their in-game experience) I have to rely on a trailer, reviews, forum posts and friends to decide… and I find it harder and harder to put my $ into Pandas.

Considering it's harder to make older people happy? Maybe that's the best choice. (╯°□°)╯
I'll admit, I almost quit in Cata until I dropped the grumpy old lady glasses, and felt happy with the game.
(Disclaimer: GW2 is still fantastic, and I will be playing both of those games) (Also, not all kids are shitheads.. back in wotlk, one of our guilds best healers was 8.)
