New Stuff Coming to the Pet Store!

First up: a trio of cosmetic helms for Transmogrification. ( Jewel of the Firelord, Hood of Hungering Darkness, and Crown of Eternal Winter) When Transmog went into the game, people immediately started talking about the possibility of just buying armor looks. So we’re going ahead and forging a few helms and seeing how they fit. They don’t have any stats, they’re just for looks, and you can use them to change the appearance of the helms for any characters of any class or race (they work with all armor types). They’re great for spicing up a Transmog set—or replacing a tier head piece you hate the looks of. No need to check that ‘Hide Helm’ box any longer!

Here are a few images, but keep in mind that these are all special-effecty and animated in a really cool way. You may have even seen these models pop up on Wowhead or MMO-Champion earlier this year.

We’re also trying out something else new. A lot of people have liked the kinds of fun, limited-use items you can get from the WoW TCG—so we’re taking that idea to the Pet Store. Soon you’ll be able to snag two fun new little toys: the Seesaw and Iron Hitching Post!

You can jump on the Seesaw with a party member and relive the childhood glee of trying to slam your friend into the ground . . . or you can have a big ogre named Lunk launch them into the air. Really, though, you’ll probably just look super cute gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes. D’awwwww.

True story: Worgen are exactly the same weight as Ogres.

The Iron Hitching Post is a little different: It’s an item you set down that allows you and up to 24 of your closest raiding cohorts to each jump on your own new unearthly Iron Warhorse mount. You can use it for smaller parties too, and it’s also great for Battlegrounds. Imagine the look on your opponents’ faces when they see a unified front of ghost horses galloping toward them . . . just to ruin everything and capture Snowfall Graveyard. (STOP IT!)

Hyah ghost-steed! Later I’ll feed you some ghost-oats in the ghost-barn.

We don’t have specific release dates for any of these items yet, but you can expect to see them show up in the Pet Store in the near future.

Let us know what you think, and what other kinds of fun and cosmetic items you might like to see in the Pet Store in the comments below!

You're not a very smart person to think anything is out of the realm of possibility with them. Lesser charms will be able to be bought. XP buff able to be purchased. So if you purchase lesser charms, and win upgrades for it, it's pay to win. With transmog gear, they will see how much money is able to be made off of it. More and more transmog gear will be sold. Then guess what? "Hey guys! WE are introducing Valor Points available for purchase in the in game store!". And then slowly, gear is able to be purchased with stats.

If you can't see the bigger picture here, then I think you're the one not being smart.

GW2 has had this kind of thing since launch, it's how they make money. It doesn't subtract quality from anythign else they produce.

Blizzard should ban Kotick from their offices. And their meetings. The more and more I'm looking at it. The Activision/Blizz merger totally put Blizz under Act control.

I can definatly see them offering pvp-sets in the future - since their reasoning would be "pvp is about skill and not gear, so it is not b2w". We'll see.

I just hope that they won't make ugly tier sets on purpose to draw players to the items of the store. But it's a very small hope.

    GW2 doesn't have a sub fee tho.

Which as I point out in the very bit you bolded and underlined is another thing entirely. Those products are not intended for the general WoW audience; it's a cross promotion to bring people playing the card game into WoW and vice versa; an incentive to try other licensed products or a reward for those already using them. Not something they just made and slapped up for sale; you actually have to buy a different product entirely and even then the chance you get one of the items is small.

It's not the same thing as taking sub money, creating a piece of content then putting it up for sale as a quick cash grab.

But hey ho, you keep on truckin'!

Do you have to pay a monthly fee to play GW2? We are all paying customers of the game but we are still priced for all extra character services and store items. Other games give you some store-credit for being a subscriber. Not Blizzard, they charge you twice.

Experience buffs are not pay to win, you are fundamentally misunderstanding what 'pay to win' is if you think that. Leveling is not a race, nor are higher levels unobtainable without experience buffs. Cosmetics and convenience items are not pay to win. They are cosmetic (such as a pet or a weapon skin), and they are convenient (such as an exp booster, which gives the added convenience of a quicker leveling process), but they do not make you more powerful then someone who does not have them. They give you something that those who don't pay can't have, but that something is not 'power' or 'winability'.

That being said, it's incredibly sleazy for Blizzard to put experience buffs in the game, rather then work on the fundamental experience rate problems (taking into consideration that this is a sub fee game).

The additions to the pet store are a huge problem for the player base as well. Even those not interested in buying them are getting affected, since every additional model they add to the cash shop is one less model for their already paying (sub fee and box price) player base.

You can also buy everything on GW2's shop using in-game gold currency (conversion into gems).

But yeah GW2 does it so why can't WoW charge $10 a PET? (nvm you can get a pack of 3 for that price in GW2 even)

How does selling cosmetic items (That they have been doing since TCG), ruining their integrity? Which most likely isn't even comparable.

Exactly the type of stuff that should be in cash shops, worthless toys.

that means wow has been pay to win since BC? ish. With raf that is, experience buff is apparently pay to win.
    BY THAT LOGIC
WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE WHINING NOW
because its already been pay to win for a few years, they're just adding cosmetic / fun / toy items.

So why is the outbreak now, not years ago when its the exact same thing?

It should be self-explanatory. TCG was one of the earlier steps. More of the same.

It's buying advantage over someone else who has no leveling buff. Nothing is this game is a race (except maybe the race daily quests) by their original intent.

Buying advantage is buying advantage and that is pay 2 win. You can put a lot of bla bla but it doesn't change that one little fact.

Yes, I consider RAF a pay to win, it gave TONS of people advantage in the race to level 90 (Har har) who rolled Pandarens. This is just one step further which I also disapprove. And I have ALWAYS complained about RAF so your caps driven shizzle doesn't run with me.

So optional paid content that takes away from real development is different from optional paid content that takes away from real development.

    Okay, buddy.
