We’ve got some new stuff coming to the Pet Store, and we wanted to give everyone a quick sneak peek. Obviously, the Pet Store has been the place where we sell pets and mounts, but we’ve come up with some new types of cosmetic goodies, including some fun new little toys and Transmogrifiables.

First up: a trio of cosmetic helms for Transmogrification. ( Jewel of the Firelord, Hood of Hungering Darkness, and Crown of Eternal Winter) When Transmog went into the game, people immediately started talking about the possibility of just buying armor looks. So we’re going ahead and forging a few helms and seeing how they fit. They don’t have any stats, they’re just for looks, and you can use them to change the appearance of the helms for any characters of any class or race (they work with all armor types). They’re great for spicing up a Transmog set—or replacing a tier head piece you hate the looks of. No need to check that ‘Hide Helm’ box any longer!

Here are a few images, but keep in mind that these are all special-effecty and animated in a really cool way. You may have even seen these models pop up on Wowhead or MMO-Champion earlier this year.

We’re also trying out something else new. A lot of people have liked the kinds of fun, limited-use items you can get from the WoW TCG—so we’re taking that idea to the Pet Store. Soon you’ll be able to snag two fun new little toys: the Seesaw and Iron Hitching Post!

You can jump on the Seesaw with a party member and relive the childhood glee of trying to slam your friend into the ground . . . or you can have a big ogre named Lunk launch them into the air. Really, though, you’ll probably just look super cute gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes. D’awwwww.

True story: Worgen are exactly the same weight as Ogres.

The Iron Hitching Post is a little different: It’s an item you set down that allows you and up to 24 of your closest raiding cohorts to each jump on your own new unearthly Iron Warhorse mount. You can use it for smaller parties too, and it’s also great for Battlegrounds. Imagine the look on your opponents’ faces when they see a unified front of ghost horses galloping toward them . . . just to ruin everything and capture Snowfall Graveyard. (STOP IT!)

Hyah ghost-steed! Later I’ll feed you some ghost-oats in the ghost-barn.

We don’t have specific release dates for any of these items yet, but you can expect to see them show up in the Pet Store in the near future.

Let us know what you think, and what other kinds of fun and cosmetic items you might like to see in the Pet Store in the comments below!

Are we just going to blow off all the cosmetic additions with "hey it just be for da looks and not dem stat things" and "it's just like the TCG"? Really? That's an actual argument? We should be demanding less of these things not more until they restructure those payment options.
    Then go demand that.

I do. But thank you for the permission I guess.

So instead of giving us the chance to obtain these items from within the game, they've decided to put them on the store. Brilliant. The main problem I have is more and more items will be made for the store instead of in-game, and I'm willing to bet that entire transmog sets will appear on it.

I expect to see city/town guard sets, faction sets(Defias Brotherhood, Scarlet Crusade, Bloodsail Buccaneers, etc), themed sets, seasonal sets, and more.

I love how people are raging about how Blizzard are going one step closer to P2W.

    Retards.

People who buy these transmogs (which have no impact on gameplay) are funding Blizzard which increases the chances we're going to see better quality expansions and patches. Why do people have such a problem with a business increasing its revenue? If you're not interested in this, then simply don't buy it. Stop whining about Blizzard and get a fucking life.

S'okay. They can just whip up another mog helmet to cover the loss of income from your sub.

So you know for a fact how Blizz spends their money and you call us retards? Besides, I thought all that new content was paid for with the sub?

    what's the problem with that?

Will these sets provide any in-game benefit apart from cosmetics? No.

This is why I said "increases the chance". I don't know what Blizz spend their money on, but time = money. I doubt these helms took too long to create, and their potential income from them is going to be huge.

Blizzard are a fantastic gaming company and the more money they bring in without sacrificing in-game competitiveness the more chance for their long-term success and our enjoyment.

Why do people still farm BT for the warglaives? Why do people camp still camp Storm Peaks for hours for the TLPD? Why did 4.3 see a rush of people spending a whole lot of gaming time farming old dungeons and raids? I mean they didn't benefit from those actions do they? Or maybe, just maybe, cosmetic rewards account for huge amounts of gameplay? Radical thought, eh?

Haha.. yeah.. let's give Blizzard more money in the hopes of more and better content! How ignorant can you be.

I don't have a problem with things being on the store that are cosmetic but when we pay subs, they should be obtainable in game. Regardless of what the items are, they take time ot develop and implement into the game and the subs are paying fo rthis

You've basically just reinforced my argument.

Those items are highly sought after because they take time / skill and luck to get.

These helmets don't and the players will know that, instantly taking the satisfaction out of having them. How many people do you see bragging about how they have a blizz store mount? None.

We spend nearly 100% of our time looking at our characters. We want them to look good no?

I'll just leave this here for you http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/0...9660E720130707. Whatever you thought of Blizzard in the past, they (and us) are about to get squeezed for every penny from a parent company seeking a short term reward with no thought on the long term consequences.

But but I thought Blizzard was our pal and not a company out to make money for investors??

And this contradicts my argument that cosmetic constitute huge amounts of gameplay how? And to be honest I don't see many people "boasting" of their Raven Lord these days, but I still see a whole lot of 90s going into Sethekk Halls.

I don't really want to say it but it seems a little cheap. Sure, the helms look great - I personally love cosmetic and useless items - but I wouldn't think they were really worth real-world money. I may well be wrong, of course, and it's not like I'm being forced into buying it, so at the end of the day, if I don't like it I can just ignore it. It's just that these kinds of things, in my mind, would be better released in-game.

I'm also hoping that one day we'll be able to transmog into seasonal sets, like the Midsummer Regalia, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if not.

They're a business. Their aim is to increase revenue and maximise profits.

They're not harming the game whatsoever. They're not forcing you to give them money and they're not increasing subs. They're offering optional cosmetics to their customers. They are churning out quality games all the time. Still don't see the problem.

If you don't like the company, simply stop funding them.
