Blizzard Trademarks "Warlords of Draenor" - WoW Expansion
Blizzard just trademarked "Warlords of Draenor" in New Zealand. It was then registered in Australia shortly after.

  • Computer game software, computer game discs, downloadable computer game software, computer game software downloadable from a global computer network, interactive multimedia computer game program; downloadable electronic game software for use on portable electronic devices such as mobile and cellular phones, laptops, handheld computers, and tablet PCs.
  • Entertainment services, namely, providing on-line computer games; providing on-line non-downloadable computer games that may be accessed via a global computer network; providing online news and information in the field of computer games.

It's also worth mentioning that warlordsofdraenor.com was registered a month ago.

I do realize that we had a lot of fun times with trademarks in the past (*cough* Dark Below *cough*) but let's just say that on a personal level I'm pretty confident about this one. I'll leave the speculation up to you guys until Blizzcon.

I mean, going back to legion is great ... ppl who expect Blizz to pull out their A game, does not look like it so far ... but untill the expansion hits we can only be surprised (in a good way). So that's something to look forward to.
Well, at least then we would know how many people didn't read the quest texts when playing this darn game at some point in the past 9+ years.

Holy shit! Well if that's the case, then we all got punked. But yeah, makes sense.

(too many pages, apologies if someone has already mentioned this possibility)
Not a lore nerd, but isn't Auchindoun a space ship?

Yep, time-traveling. Otherwise I'd be pissed at Blizzard giving the Outlands the "revamp" treatment.
Regardless, it's still a revamp if it goes into Outlands. It doesn't mean it has to do with Draenor at all. It could just be referring to Alleria and Turalyon.

It's been mentioned a couple of times, by Blizzard, that Outlands needs a reboot. It doesn't make a story cohesive. Starting a toon is like this, you are in the current timeline, jump to the past for Outlands, then into the past again for Northrend, then BACK into present with Cata and MOP.

It doesn't flow like Cata into MOP does, and you can bet your ass they are going to revamp that shit sooner or later.

Except the Moba will consist of all of Blizzard's franchises. How would that even make sense/

And that has anything to do with World of Warcraft because?

Hmm so is the trademark registered... or are these just some form of pre legal applications?

Still does not explain why the name would be something like this. If you have an option to give a game name that everyone can identify or name that some ppl intersted in the franchise for years can identify ... why go with the latter.

i supposed you can make a case for that except that draenei and orcs are the only races from draenor so it would make no sense for the rest races in blizzard all-stars

Indeed. Would make no sense at all. Also considering the MOBA game will have Starcraft+Diablo "heroes/champions" aswell, Warlord of Draenor would probably the worst title ever for a mix of the 3 games.

Your guess is as good as mine. I dunno, I'm sure it looks great in presentation.

The Dark Below was thought to be accurate until proven otherwise, so this could still be a hoax.

The so-called leaks have had little to give them any credibility.
Multiple forum posts from first-time posters where they often contradicted each other.
One of them describing a well established event in the current game.
Same vague and generic sources as every other.

There has been no reason so far to take those claims seriously, and given the past history a trademark application still means very little.

    I remain sceptical.

As I posted on WoWInsider, with a little cleaning up, here's my 2c of speculation

Blizzard moves the timeline on 5-10 years from the events at the end of MoP and the following unfolds...

Turalyon and Alleria stumble through the dark portal back into Azeroth, Turalyon heads to see Varian and Alleria goes to visit her sister, both carry a story and a warning. During their absence they've been on an undiscovered section of Draenor. Aforementioned undiscovered section of Draenor is ruled by factions of Orcs and Draenei who are in turn ruled by.... Warlords. The Burning Legion have chosen to invade Draenor to establish a base from which to invade Azeroth through the dark portal. Turalyon and Alleria have come back to warn us. The Horde and Alliance both mobilise and send heroes back through the Dark Portal to Outland and thence on to this previously unknown chunk of Draenor. The expansion then unfolds on entirely new continents of Outland/Draenor, is Draenei and Orc focused, with us battling the various Warlords and ultimately The Legion. Some of the 'Warlords', their factions and of course ultimately the commanders of The Legion are the villains and raid bosses.

An alliance sub-theme will be bringing some long lost Draenei back into the fold, the Horde will be doing the same with some of the Orcs.

If there's a new or neutral race involved, we already met them in TBC, the Ethereal.

It's not a time travel centric expansion at all, although there may be a raid in the CoT which is where the Grom rumour comes from.

Please God no time travel. Please God no time travel. Please God no time travel.

I might HATE the idea of an Azshara expansion, but Time Travel sounds absolutely ridiculous (And yes, I will complain before I know anything about it), I, for one, hope that the poster that originally posted this only got the name right, because Time Travel in storytelling is often done horribly and only detracts from the story, while serving as a lazy way for writers to push the story forward, while creating various inconsistencies, I really don't trust Blizzard to do that right. Also why would Grom be the major antagonist? He was never a bad guy, even when the Blood Curse was in full swing he wasn't like Gul'dan or Blackhand, hell, he didn't even come close to Garrosh. Does Kosak just want to grind the rest of the Orc's story into dust?

Either way, if Boub says he's confident that "Warlords of Draenor" is the name, I'll take his word for that, I don't recall seeing him be wrong before. However, I will be praying that Time Travel plays NO part in this (We'll have to wait until Blizzcon to figure that out). Either way TAKE THAT AZSHARA FANS.

Oh, and also for those complaining about the name. WE ARE PLAYING AN EXPANSION CALLED MISTS OF PANDARIA RIGHT NOW. Mists. Of. Pandaria. It does not get worse than that.

Why, WHY the freaking hell would we want to time travel to Outlands? Dragon Soul 2.0?
