Blizzard Trademarks "Warlords of Draenor" - WoW Expansion
Blizzard just trademarked "Warlords of Draenor" in New Zealand. It was then registered in Australia shortly after.

  • Computer game software, computer game discs, downloadable computer game software, computer game software downloadable from a global computer network, interactive multimedia computer game program; downloadable electronic game software for use on portable electronic devices such as mobile and cellular phones, laptops, handheld computers, and tablet PCs.
  • Entertainment services, namely, providing on-line computer games; providing on-line non-downloadable computer games that may be accessed via a global computer network; providing online news and information in the field of computer games.

It's also worth mentioning that warlordsofdraenor.com was registered a month ago.

I do realize that we had a lot of fun times with trademarks in the past (*cough* Dark Below *cough*) but let's just say that on a personal level I'm pretty confident about this one. I'll leave the speculation up to you guys until Blizzcon.

They also include nothing about mobile devices, which this one appears to rely on quite a bit. Boub doesn't say it's an expansion, people just assumed that, to me it just sounds like he's confident it's blizzard posting the trademark and nothing more.

This looks like a new mobile app of some sort, maybe a hearthstone expansion, but hearthstone doesn't include anything related to mobile applications in trademark either.

I can't currently post the trademarks myself, but I've looked them both up in their original posts on mmo-champion.
I just say keep a hold of everything you know or find out until Blizzcon, Blizzcon Week produces a very hostile enviroment where people hate opinions, it happens every year & lasts until Thursday Night.

Warlords of Draenor is in the same boat as The Dark Below. Both said be real Trademarks, after that one guy (Boulb) posted. But what we think they are is not 100% confirmed to what we say they are. But mostly likely a WoW Xpac or Titan for TDB & WoW Xpac, Hearthstone Xpac or Warcraft 4 for WoD, all of these are likely outcomes & neither could be a WoW Xpac, no official word until Blizzcon.

Regardless, if everything that guy said is right than that proves people were gullible anough to fall for the The Dark Below Hoax BS, WoD could be the next Xpac. But the chance The Dark Below actually is legit & could be the next Xpac, makes me feel me much better & puts a pretty big smurk on my face for being one of the people who believed in it from the start. Regardless if it does turn out to be the WoW Xpac or Titan, I am still proud anough to say I never fell for the anyone can trademark something under Blizzard's name BS.

But like I have said multiple times, if I am wrong I'm wrong, I will not lose sleep over it. But if The Dark Below does actually turn out to be the next WoW Xpac than I will give myself a nice pat on the back.

Warcraft at heart has always been about the Orcs vs Humans conflict. Trolls vs Aqir is too much of a disconnect with any fan of the RTS games, and it's tertiary backstory from WoW known by a relative few. If a Warcraft 4 happens, it has to continue the Horde vs Alliance theme in one form or another.

It doesn't absolutely have to be orc vs. human. In fact many of the books are missing this "key" plot device. I'm of the opinion it will be a warcraft 4 game, set in the past as a prequel before the first war. The game chronicling the novel Rise of the Horde.

I wouldnt be surprised if this trademark was added just as a joke to build up the tension behind Blizzcon (just like the Corgis one) or as a trademark for Heartstone - new cards kind of thing

Why would they make another WoW expansion ?

Clicking the supposedly registered link gives you a site saying it is "parked FREE", which to me sounds like it isn't taken

What if the orcs ner'thul send out for further conquest found new worlds? They would've probably been put under the heel of the legion again though, so it'd be fighting for the freedom of the legion's colonized worlds or something.

So...warlords of draenor could mean that's what they originally were.

    Yeah I know, totally far-fetched. Time-travel's a little meh though, I agree.

Seriously though why not. The reconquest of Draenor. The rediscovery of Draenor. The faith of Draenor or whatever.

    Draenor has warlords?

Well I guess this is definitely 100% the next expansion and the rumors were true. I say that because of the fact that Grom Hellscream is being changed to Grommash Hellscream in Hearthstone. This would have to be one friggin HUGE coincedence that they would do this if it weren't for the rumors being true.

Doesn't seem to make much sense as a WoW Expansion. It sounds more like a Hearthstone expansion: Same way there's Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft -> Hearthstone: Warlords of Draenor.

I'm not trying to insult or bait you, I just don't find the "it doesn't sound like a WoW expac title" to be a very good argument. Who are any of us to decide what sounds like a proper WoW expac title? Forensic linguists? There are also better arguments to take up when suggesting it isn't the expac, like looking at the finer parts of the trademark, though at this point that might just be semantics as well.

Draenor was outland before it got destroyed, how much is there to rediscover.

It is most likely the new expansion however it is a real good name for a Hearthstone expansion as well.

    Heroes of Azeroth
    Warlords of Draenor
    Armies of Northrend
    Warriors of the Emerald Dream
    Mystics of Panderia

depends on how they "reassemble" the burning legion.

if they push 90-100, which makes more sense, they can do a lot of good things. if they push 90-95, it's not going to be as adventurous, those last 5 levels will seem problematic as there's not really enough questing to fill in compared to MoP's 400 odd quests (and 800 dailies), it would require, 500-800 quests for 6-8 new zones, due to XP scaling at 90+, it would be something like 40 million to 91, upto 90 million xp to get to 95. MoP is Ridiculous, WoD could push 60 hours of levelling ...

or ... (cue ominous music) ... 95 to 100 via dailies.

    anyway.

having previously been ... "not prepared", there were more than just the demons and company that broke Outland/Draenor apart. we've never really seen Sargeras in the flesh before. Apparently it's "Smokin" hot. as in scorched earth hot. So, i'd imagine it's going to be a bit like Wrath's events + expansion with some cute scenario events and phased events to start dropping Firelands raid-boss level demons everywhere.

really, anything to make Burning Crusade areas relevant is good,

add some N'avi mobs (sigh...) or starcraft 2 wreckage onto the floating rocks in Nagrand,
add in some forest areas to make the "kill 90 mobs" in level 94 nessingwary hunts, as difficult as farming mobs in Krasarang Wilds, etc.

I'm hoping the expansion is about the other locations that the orcs fled to before the destruction of Draenor.

I was reminded of the exodus when reading the following on wowwikki:

In the midst of the ensuing battle the elder shaman Ner'zhul attempted to allow the remaining orcs on Draenor to escape to other worlds by opening other dimensional portals; however the presence of so many portals tore the planet apart, leaving only torn fragments of the former world floating in the Nether. It ceased to be a material world, and the barely-hospitable remnants was renamed Outland.

It'd be cool if outlands becomes a kinda staging area to go into these other portals, that may be adrift on chucks of the planet, and into completely different worlds.

So the "warlords" in the name would point to the different tribes that went into each portal.

I know it's wishful thinking on my part and it will probably just be time travel stuff

Outland was Draenor before it dried up and was ripped apart, before the fel magics sucked the life from it... it was said to be rather beautiful...

"Having at last outrun the bloodthirsty forces of the Burning Legion, the draenei settled the planet and named it "Exile's Refuge" aka "Draenor" in their language.
