Blizzard Trademarks "Warlords of Draenor" - WoW Expansion
Blizzard just trademarked "Warlords of Draenor" in New Zealand. It was then registered in Australia shortly after.

  • Computer game software, computer game discs, downloadable computer game software, computer game software downloadable from a global computer network, interactive multimedia computer game program; downloadable electronic game software for use on portable electronic devices such as mobile and cellular phones, laptops, handheld computers, and tablet PCs.
  • Entertainment services, namely, providing on-line computer games; providing on-line non-downloadable computer games that may be accessed via a global computer network; providing online news and information in the field of computer games.

It's also worth mentioning that warlordsofdraenor.com was registered a month ago.

I do realize that we had a lot of fun times with trademarks in the past (*cough* Dark Below *cough*) but let's just say that on a personal level I'm pretty confident about this one. I'll leave the speculation up to you guys until Blizzcon.

It is most likely the new expansion however it is a real good name for a Hearthstone expansion as well.

    Heroes of Azeroth
    Warlords of Draenor
    Armies of Northrend
    Warriors of the Emerald Dream
    Mystics of Panderia

depends on how they "reassemble" the burning legion.

if they push 90-100, which makes more sense, they can do a lot of good things. if they push 90-95, it's not going to be as adventurous, those last 5 levels will seem problematic as there's not really enough questing to fill in compared to MoP's 400 odd quests (and 800 dailies), it would require, 500-800 quests for 6-8 new zones, due to XP scaling at 90+, it would be something like 40 million to 91, upto 90 million xp to get to 95. MoP is Ridiculous, WoD could push 60 hours of levelling ...

or ... (cue ominous music) ... 95 to 100 via dailies.

    anyway.

having previously been ... "not prepared", there were more than just the demons and company that broke Outland/Draenor apart. we've never really seen Sargeras in the flesh before. Apparently it's "Smokin" hot. as in scorched earth hot. So, i'd imagine it's going to be a bit like Wrath's events + expansion with some cute scenario events and phased events to start dropping Firelands raid-boss level demons everywhere.

really, anything to make Burning Crusade areas relevant is good,

add some N'avi mobs (sigh...) or starcraft 2 wreckage onto the floating rocks in Nagrand,
add in some forest areas to make the "kill 90 mobs" in level 94 nessingwary hunts, as difficult as farming mobs in Krasarang Wilds, etc.

I'm hoping the expansion is about the other locations that the orcs fled to before the destruction of Draenor.

I was reminded of the exodus when reading the following on wowwikki:

In the midst of the ensuing battle the elder shaman Ner'zhul attempted to allow the remaining orcs on Draenor to escape to other worlds by opening other dimensional portals; however the presence of so many portals tore the planet apart, leaving only torn fragments of the former world floating in the Nether. It ceased to be a material world, and the barely-hospitable remnants was renamed Outland.

It'd be cool if outlands becomes a kinda staging area to go into these other portals, that may be adrift on chucks of the planet, and into completely different worlds.

So the "warlords" in the name would point to the different tribes that went into each portal.

I know it's wishful thinking on my part and it will probably just be time travel stuff

Outland was Draenor before it dried up and was ripped apart, before the fel magics sucked the life from it... it was said to be rather beautiful...

"Having at last outrun the bloodthirsty forces of the Burning Legion, the draenei settled the planet and named it "Exile's Refuge" aka "Draenor" in their language.

So what the hell? We going back in time to Draenor before it became Outland? Are they revamping Outland like they did Azeroth in Cataclysm? Will we get to go to Argus?

As usual, I'm excited for the idea of the expansion, but will likely end up getting bored quickly and quitting.

Yep, time-traveling. Otherwise I'd be pissed at Blizzard giving the Outlands the "revamp" treatment.
    It's revamp.

BLizzard will not go back to Outland and then leave TBC content unchanged. That would be stupid. So its probably the same content with maybe 2 added zones.

This is logical since TBC is now the most outdated content. And the expansion is now free so Blizzard would not be loosing any money by just revamping it.

Did you even look at the trademarks? Like... none of that points to a movie, whatsoever. Those classes don't look like movie copyright AT ALL...

Nah, it would be stupid of them to give us a free expansion, when we'll obviously pay for one
They'll probably revamp Outland, but I don't think this expansion will take place there...
We'll probably discover another piece(s?) of Draenor that is similar to Outland in that it's just a chunk of a land mass floating in the Twisting Nether, and the people who were still there when Draenor exploded have been fighting for this piece

I just hope it's not "Oh another landmass crashed INTO Outland...and now Outland is mostly destroyed JUST LIKE AZEROTH!" I'm tired of having to walk around chasms and fallen buildings...

First thing's first. Hearthstone is still in beta. Why would anyone register an expansion for a game that hasn't even been completed yet? Especially Blizzard. Every game in the WoW series has been trademarked first after the current has been released, and they have usually waited trademarking until there is about a year left till release of the next expansion.

Trademarking an expansion before the current game has even been released will only lead to loss in sales. People would think "I'd rather wait for the next one instead" or "why pay for this when it will get outdated soon anyways"?

The bare thought of this being related to a yet unreleased gaming franchise is unrealistic, and if it were to be true, it would be really a stupid call from blizz. Blizzard is good at milking us for money, and they are not stupid.

    MoP had the same classes.

Hell, even from the MoP when everyone thought it was a book, Boub had said:

"Update - For the record, the international codes 009 and 041 only seems to appear on Blizzard's online games trademarks. This isn't a book or anything like that. It appears incredibly likely based on previous trademarks obtained by Blizzard that this is the next expansion."

It's an expansion, how naive can you people get?

It will most likely not be 40-90 million exp. They will squish the numbers on almost every aspects of the game since they have complained that the numbers are simply getting way too high. It will most probably take as much time to get from 90 to 100, but the exp will be squished so we get some more realistic numbers.

It's not naivete, it's denial. (I say as someone who is happily paddling through upper Egypt myself ) Some of us don't want what we presume a "Warlords of Draenor" expansion will be; in my case, that's heavy use of time travel.

Here's a crazy thought, maybe this Draenor isn't the Draenor/Outland we know. As Metzen commented in 2011 during the lore Q&A, "How badass would it be if there is this shining fleet of Draenei out there Velen doesn't even know about." Maybe they setteled on a planet and named it Draenor as well, and we go there to help them with another Legion invasion.

Keep in mind, it is probably an expansion but... do we know it's a WOW expansion?

    Could be Hearthstone

Also 009 and 041 codes. These don't confirm anything yet. Personally I'd argue that the whole Corgi's Unleashed was an attempt to cover it up, similarly to how they went on to make a ton of murloc and ogre masks after the Goblin and Worgen ones were datamined.

Also, look what is listed under said codes. As someone else mentioned previously, Warlords of Draenor mentions mobile phones, tablets, etc. The Dark Below and all previous wow expansions don't mention that at all.

Another point, the screenshot that has been floating around: http://i.imgur.com/qg4zWmd.jpg
Read what is listed in the features. Instant lvl 85 for alts?
"What we learned from the past: Lots of CC removed" In PVE, CC is seldomly used except for a few dangerous packs and here and there on bosses, which makes the fights more interesting, imho. In PVP, CC still plays a heavy role into countering burst moments of certain classes. Removing CC is a bad idea, as it would require heavy changes in how PVP is now played. Burst CDs would become too powerful and thus require nerfing in return, which can leak back into PVE by severely harmstringing specific classes. IT'll essentially require them rebalance everything.
Not going to happen, it's extra time and resources wasted on nothing good and which could arguably be seen as simplifying the gameplay, as if it wasn't simple enough.
Also the logo art is terribly bad, it uses the original lower resolution logo art with a plate added underneath it.

Also, knowning Blizzard, They never release exact release dates at blizzcon for expansion announcements. MoP release date was announced 2 months prior to it's release.
    That screenshot is fake.

Since when has Blizzard ever registered a domain name for their WoW expansions? None of the other expansions use their own domain name, just worldofwarcraft.com and battle.net/wow.
