  • The Draenei will react to the savage world, looking at important points in their history.
  • The Frostwolf Clan is still in the early stages, not working together very well yet.
  • The team went through many iterations to figure out how the Warlords would be brought back. Garrosh was originally going to go back to Outland and resurrect the Warlords, but that concept didn't work out well.
  • This isn't a time travel expansion, time travel is just a tool to explain the ongoing story. It isn't being used to massively change the current timeline. The past is fine!
  • Shattrath was a giant coastal city.
  • This setting allows for the creation of some really over the top villains. "What if the baddest badasses in Warcraft history got together"
  • Is Thrall's father a hero? Is he a villain?
  • Thrall has some work to do in bringing Garrosh to justice.
  • The Draenei haven't had a lot of story in previous expansions, but this one gives the team a chance to look at who they were before the Draenei we know today.
  • The world will be a little more like Timeless Isle, with things like a caravan of Iron Horde being stranded in the snow that you can kill to take the treasure they were hauling. This isn't a quest, just one of the events in the new and more dynamic world.

Q&A
Any update on the book that was being written about Kael'thas?
We are making progress and it is near completion.

How is this time travel going to work with the story?
We aren't going back in time, the Dark Portal is turning red, bad guys are coming through. We look at the Orc Clans as they were, but things are happening now. The end of this expansion will launch the next one.

Did Outland happen or was it changed by going back in time?
Outland is still out there.

Will we see Alleria and Turalyon again?
Not yet. But you will see Khadgar.

The southernmost points of the world are jungle or desert, meaning we are near the equator. Is there another half of the planet left to still explore?
Yes. No. Maybe.

Will we see Paladin lore in this expansion?
Yes, lots of it.

Will Garrosh be redeemed?
No, but we will provide a satisfying ending for you and him.

Is Chris Metzen going to voice the father of Thrall?
No.

Where is Orgrim Doomhammer?
You will see him. He isn't one of the chief Warlords, but he is definitely involved and you will see his story.

Will we have two of characters due to the time travel?
No, this isn't a time travel or paradox story, it is about going to Draenor.

What is going on with the Pandaren faction leaders? We don't really see much of them.
It was a matter of time. We didn't have the chance to do a lot with the Pandaren faction leaders.

How will characters be impacted by seeing family that they never knew?
Garrosh and Thrall didn't know their parents well, so this gives us a chance to show them learning about their family and history. Thrall meets his family and it is really what he needs.

Is there a chance of looking at alternative realities based on what we change by going back in time?
Yes, it will give us that opportunity. It affects our current timeline, but does not affect the past.

What is going on with the Dragonmaw?
Zaela goes back with Garrosh.

Will we see Thrall's mom? Grandma?
Yes and yes.

Is Aggra going to go back with Thrall?
No.

What about Garona?
We will see her.

Does Grom age?
Yes, he is aging. He is old enough to be Thrall's dad now.

The timeline is during Rise of the Horde?
Garrosh goes back a few years before they drink the blood. So it is during Rise of the Horde before critical events take place.

What is going on with Sylvanas?
She is in the background doing crafty things. We will put the spotlight on her one day.

Will the Blood Elves play a role in this expansion?
Yes. Blood Elf paladins, how the light works, and what the Draenei have been up to will be explained.

Is Silvermoon going to be updated?
No.

What kind of Shamanism will we see on Draenor and will it change our Shamanism?
You will see Drek'thar going blind from messing with the elements and other shamanism story.

As an aside, with the players being the primary protagonist/tool for advancing the story/saving the world, anything we do to advance our level/increase our power advances to story, whether you like the mechanism by which it happens or not.

it looks like they're sizing up a pretty good xpac. whether it'll stay that way is a different story. but with everything they just said i see a lot of potential for great things, and great failures.

we shall see. but i'm going to remain optimistic

Because you aren't changing the past. It's like bridging old Draenor with current Azeroth.

Another Thrall expansion? I like the guy and all, and I get that he's the poster child for Warcraft now, but I'd really like to see more from some of the underutilized characters. At least they're acknowledging that the space goats exist again, though.

Think of it as a portal to a parallel universe. I like the idea very much.

I can imagine Garrosh standing in front of a group of Orcs:

Alright class, today teacher will learn you about WMDS AND ALLIANCE SCUM!

OMGOMGOMGOMG I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS XPAC THAT I THINK I'M GOING CRAZY!!11!
Holy shit, MoP was good, but this? This is gold stuff, high level shit. See Ner'zhul, Gul'dan, Grom, Durotan and all these guys again... I think I'm gonna cry.
I love you Blizzard, marry me.

Some Shado Pan jailers are going to lose their jobs. How the hell did they let Garrosh escape?
Anyways I knew this was one of the possible scenarios where Blizzard would reuse a lore character again after almost an entire expansion focused on taking him down. Wish Thrall executed him then & there.

Well either way I'm excited for the new character models, the ones they previewed looks awesome, I can't wait for the Human models (seeing that almost all my toons are humans).

Did they just somewhat confirm Kil'Jaeden to be a part of the xpac at some point in the answer to that question?

Garrosh will mess it up as usual, after the Twilight Highlands example, he will mess things up while trying to impress and the Iron Horde will grow without him, possibly usurped after making too many mistakes then they will invade Azeroth, Garrosh will be cleaning their privies as a peon in disgrace after losing face lol.

    So, uh

Are the characters who were on Draenor and are still alive (Would that just be Velen now?) just going to have Elseworld clones running around?

For that matter, is there now an Elseworld Azeroth that you could theoretically build a portal to?

So, probably, Garrosh will escape with the help of the Timewalker traitor and end up being like Kael'thas, start things going and then be relegated to the scrap heap.

I rarely ever comment; but knowing the BlizzCon isn't OVER yet…

So far all I see is a Mini-expansion.

Everyone getting hyped up for this game sees some cool content (Player Garrison, Models, etc…)
    and maybe an interesting story!
Hey it might work, it might not.

    What I see is:

Every expansion has had smaller leaps of content than the last. From Vanilla to BC -> a Whole new world and lotsastuff. BC -> WOTLK an Amazing Story from Wc3 and Content -> Cataclysm was the progression of NEW story and content -> then we hit MoP. Mists had content that SHOULD have been in the previous expansions. Content such as: Transmogrification (Which was wanted since BC (but not screamed for)). Obvious things that make a good game better were made in MoP, Which actually wasn't a lot. I didn't really care for the story, but Pandas were acceptable. A whole expansion on them? Sure why not. It's more story. But the actual story of World of Warcraft? Didn't really appeal to that.

What I saw was the word:

    "Expansions"
    Expansions (S)
    (S)

    SSSSSSS

    See that?

Yeah I see this expansion as a MINI expansion. It's more of a large patch in my opinion as of right now. You have to remember that they will eventually run out of creative juice for newer interesting content that is still Warcraft. For the next 2-3 expansions that they have lined up, expect them to be more like patches, with content they purposely withhold to keep some attention.

I don't mean to sound negative. But a Burning Legion expansion would have been way more interesting than this. I am -so .. sick… of Garrosh…-

This expansion isn't ABOUT time travel, it's the catalyst for content. I think it's stupid they have to resort to messing with time to bring in a new antagonist. And if they are messing with time (Garrosh at least). Then F*** it. Go back in time, keep Arthas alive. Bring Illidan back. Throw Vashj into leadership of a Naga Invasion. It's just stupid in my opinion. No main villain is really dead if (GARROSH OF ALL CHARACTERS) lore characters can use time travel to mess with everything. Why can't others?

Blizzard has had too many WRONG curveballs.
Sylvannas should have been the one to silence Arthas. Illidan should make another appearance. Vashj should have had a bigger role in Outland. Deathwing really was not that big and badass as a giant slime bucket of lava (endgame, one of the most disappointing endings to an expansion (the fight)). And an ENTIRE expansion about Pandas who drink beer and kill innocent animals (Kill mother turtles for their baby eggs, YEAH! KILL ALL THE ANIMALS AND DRINK BEER). Was stupid as shit.

    Warlords ? Seriously, Blizz ?!

I wanted the Burning Legion, maybe Azshara before the final Sargeras expac. But this ? The past coming to the present and "baddest badasses in Warcraft history got together" ? SoO/Garrosh was merely a setback ? Iron Horde ?

They scrapped Titan when they should have scrapped this expac !

That opens a whole different can of what the hell.

It sounds as if they're still struggling with the concept of just how to handle getting us into all the stuff they want us into. It almost seems like they're split between "the players travel back in time to Draenor" and "Garrosh travelled back in time to Draenor, preventing its destruction, and now the present of Draenor has been changed". But both of those require an alternate universe explanation to not vastly change the present of Azeroth...

Either that or old Draenor is somehow rebuilt from scratch a-la H2G2. That would be a bit of a cop-out... But it might actually be the most usable of the ideas, as it doesn't get into timey-wimey problems at all.

To be fair, anything involving Jay Wilson should be scrapped.

It's pathetic how many people can't grasp the concept and how this is NOT a time travel expansion:

Garrosh is the only one that goes back in time. Him preventing the Orcs from drinking the demon blood changed the course of history. Because of this, Draenor is still intact and the Iron Horde are on our doorstep in OUR OWN TIME. When we go through the portal, we are not traveling back in time - we are experiencing the events on Draenor taking place in the current timeline due to Garrosh's influence.

From what they have said still sounds like time travel more than a parallel universe. It's kind of confusing but paradox's and time travel are suppose to be. Silly idea still IMO should have stuck with a different idea but same sort of theme.
