Ghostcrawler to leave Blizzard Entertainment
Ghostcrawler announced this morning on Facebook that he will be leaving Blizzard Entertainment to pursue a "great opportunity for something new and exciting". I don't usually share my opinions in news post, so there's a tweet with my full thoughts on the subject.

Is this actually true? And if it is, is is wrong to? It does seem silly to me, but I can see why it technically has to be considered an active account. If you can't do say a monthly access charge, but instead sell actual game time. So long as the balance is positive that account probably is required to remain active legally speaking....even if the activity on that account is non existent. If theres no mechanism to reduce to the balance on the account...like an inactivity charge or a charge if balance is remaining after X time like giftcard's some time have. The account will remain technically open. That's why things like box sales are important.

He seems pretty excited so he probably found a pretty good deal. Maybe something outside of games, even. Time to put that PhD to good use, GC!

I think it's likely Kosak considering he is lead Narrative designer for Warlords.

Chinese players don't buy boxes. The game time card allows them to open a new account or apply it to a current one.

He probably realized WoW is nearing the end of it's life and it would be best to start looking for better opportunities.

Nooo. I will miss him so much. :/
Contrary to some loud forum haters, he actually knew what he was doing, had some witty humor and A CRAP TON of patience to deal with all these aggressive posts toward him on forums.

Hurray! Finally! Anyone who didn't see this one coming for the last year has been blind to Dev events. Don't let the door hit you on the way out! Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Did not know that. So those accounts are technically open...so I don't see why they shouldn't be counted. Granted I would break accounts out by region, but I also know boss types like highlevel statistics so you're going to have to give a grand total and you can't not count those =P

You're an idiot if you think someone who hasn't played the game in 6-8 years should still count as a sub. Just like people in the US/EU who maintain an active subscription but never log into the game also shouldn't count as a sub. They easily have the ability to track account activity as evidenced by armory characters becoming inactive when not logged into at least once in 30 days. They choose not to do so to intentionally mislead and deceive.

Enter Tom Chilton or Rob Pardo as new Lead System Designer?

So we all take him off friend list and ignore like we do to guild hoppers right?
Firstly that comment made me laugh so much! Ty

Secondly a lot of the negative posters in this thread should be ashamed of their rude and in-considerate responses. You are an embarrassment to the WOW community and a bunch of keyboard warriors who hide behind there computer and put down other people. Good riddance and saying glad he was fired and how they should fire more people...............are you serious who says that? Next time a friend or family member leave there work try saying some of the comments you have posted here and see how well they go down!

I have read all these lame requests for changes and fixes that are suddenly going to improve the game and WTF people if Blizz did what you all say the game would be unplayable....any sensible person respects the fact that they can not please everyone and do the best they can with the knowledge of the game they have which I am sure is far greater than 90% of people posting here!

To GC I wish you all the best and thank you for your contribution to the fantastic game which has given me hours of fun and allowed me to make some amazing friends.

Lore's blue post was amazing and reflects the person you are.

Not entirely true. They typically don't announce sub numbers to the community directly. We hear about it after they talk to their stockholders. An active subscription, whether they are an active player or not, is revenue and therefore significant.

I don't really care about such things, but I would honestly be surprised to hear if other MMOs didn't do this as well.

Accounts in non-sub markets are considered active only if they've been used in the previous 30 days.

and I hope the new guy doesn't take assholes being assholes laying down. Folks need to learn to take an honest rebuke when what they say is illogical or senseless from a design perspective.

This is not true. It says right on the Netease WoW website that any account with a game time card with a positive balance counts as a subscription.
