Ghostcrawler confirmed the news on the official forums.

We just came off of a great BlizzCon. We had so many different games to talk about, and we were thrilled at the reception of Warlords of Draenor. It was great to meet or reconnect with so many of you. I love BlizzCon dearly, which makes it so hard to tell you that this will be my last one, or at least my last one up on stage. An opportunity has come my way, and I have made the very tough decision to move on from Blizzard.

I wanted to thank all of you for being a part of this grand quest. I have said a hundred times that having passionate gamers, including the angry ones, is a far better place to be than having a community that doesn’t care. You all care. Like us, you want the game to be the best that it can be. So I ask you to keep on providing your feedback. I promise (and I rarely promise!) that the developers care very much about what you have to say.

I’ll be out there, and I can’t imagine it will be that hard to find me.

Hugs,
Ghostcrawler

P.S. No, you can’t have a pony. Or a moose. Or a mantis shrimp. Or a tardigrade. Or a crab. Keep trying though.

P.P.S. I play a Holy Priest.

He was the Wow Forum's face of Blizzard for a long time, and it caused him to get blamed for pretty much everything that people hate.

Now, if he goes to another game, and all of a sudden that game starts loosing subscribers or gets "worse" we could talk about how he was the reason that wow has "diminished". Untill that point, I wish the man luck in all his endevors
Titan isnt fully scrapped, they scrapped the current state of that game, to point out how misinformed you are. There are still 30 developers working on the game, and remember: WoW has been rebooted the same way before release. The core titan team is still working on it, or have you seen Tigole on some other project yet? Well I'm not.

Since I clearly remember GC talking about daily quests and their limit back in Wotlk (25 a day), I really thought this was a bad decision again. Why? Well, why limitate quests, why not grind yourself to the top? Sure grind is boring, but remember: Almost everything was a grind in vanilla, and people still came to the game and played it. The grind made you unique, since you had those things that others didnt have. Feeling elite or unique in your own niche is a good thing!
Don't want to shatter your illusion but the limit was there since the daily quests were introduced back in TBC. There just weren't many of them at the start so you might not noticed it. But it was there. And it was 10 dalies limit even.

More to the point grind might be fun to a certain degree and for certain people, but that hardly made you unique. That just showed you had shitloads of time to spend in the game. Nothing more, nothing less. And the grind side of vanilla/TBC was true pain in the arse which I personally am glad we don't have to deal with these days (they brought it partially back at 5.0 with rep grind and all hell broke loose). Farm for flasks and pots because you had to use both for each boss wipe. Farm shitloads of essences from elementals that were camped 24/7 and half was banished by warlocks for giggle. Farm lotuses for flasks (like 5 of them total per whole vanilla lol). Just to recall those things... *shiver*

I agree. But thats the ultimate question:

Is it better that people spend time in the game, even If it is a unholy grind. Or is the current state (total opposite) better for the game?

    I'd go with the first.

Well, it was obvious that he isn't playing a dd that has to compete with mages. That he plays holy priest explains why shadows have been crap after classic(always changing roles from pvp to pve...from dd to mana battery...from running dotter to standing still glass punching bag...back forth, forth back...it's ridiculous what they did with the shadow over the years). Never being able to compete with other classes in PVE(solo or raids) or PvP(beyond random BGs).

Considering i play for pvp and he fucked up pvp really bad then i would say yes, he is the reason for all my problems with WoW

Considering how loud ppl were about rep grind in 5.0, I'd say overall the current state is better for majority, yes. Not like there aren't things to grind in the game at all...

Even here on this forum where you find the most.. erh.. dedicated people, you will see that the polls if they like/dislike ghostcrawler always fall out in great favour to GCs side. The rest of the community don't even know who he is, so most, that cares enough to know him, actually likes him. Just some of these.. dedicated vocal people, you think is the majority.

He said holy, and while you can respec, he wouldn't say holy if he always played disc all the time he had a problem with holy healing. I do remember him saying that holy didn't suck as much as a lot of people saying, in the beginning of this expansion.

Wonder what he moves on to. Not a new MMO outside of blizzard i guess. Pretty sure he wouldn't be allowed to do that.

Well, any chance that the mages like him? I don't think there are many shadows out there saying that he did a great job during the last 5 years....;-)

Why would he not be allowed to do that? He is no longer working for Blizzard.
He is not taking any of the software with him so it is perfectly fine aslong as he does not reveal any Blizzard company secrets to his new company.

Heck maybe he is not even working on videogame's anymore it could very well be that he is doing something else.

Actually he was working on WoD up until recently so you might have a few years to wait before escaping his influence.

Actually Holinka is the head PvP designer (who is a real piece of work himself). If anything, GC seemed to want as little to do with PvP as possible as he was clearly clueless about it on several occasions.

    Agreed.

The beta may turn out to be better now with a new lead.

Mages should like him, though they dislike the 90 tier talents.
Shadow was OP in the beginning of the expansion in pvp, and could dish out some pretty decent damage overall. They nerfed them too much though.
Overall i guess most people just realise that he's not trying to do things to annoy them personally when they get nerfed/inconvenienced ^^

I think you tried to reply to me?
Because as a lead designer he will have knowledge about what their future plans is. It's pretty common that people with leading positions don't get to take a job at a competing firm for a while after, as part of their contract. Ideas is important for companies too.

It's a miracle he's finally leaving, the game might actually start getting good again.

In pvp in general? YOu mean the 3vs3 and 5vs5(usually with mages and rogues to protect them)...maybe...but 2vs2 and 1vs1 or rated BG? Hardly. They always needed other classes to protect their *** to be able to do ANY damage at all.
Doing "pretty decent" damage is only for one dd-class a reason to be nerfed as it seems: Shadows(guess because they are all shocked when they see shadows doing damage after all those years that they immidiately call for "NERF!!!!").
