Warlords of Draenor Press Events - Gameplay Footage and Spoilers
Blizzard organized a couple of press tours in Europe and Korea and interesting info about the new expansion is starting to appear on the web.

Mamytwink.com got to play the expansion for 5 hours and gave his impressions along with a couple interesting spoilers. Below is a rough translation of original article:

Leveling and Other Numbers
  • I played a gnome warrior in the Shadowmoon Valley, the Alliance starting zone. After about 5 hours of /played and 80 quests I reached the end of the zone and Level 92.
  • At level 91, I had 63k health as a Tank.
  • Monsters had around 100k health.
  • I was dealing around 1k to 5k damage on normal hits. Up to 10k critical damage for some abilities (Shield Slam).
  • It takes 597k XP to go from level 90 to level 91 and 640k xp to go from level 91 to 92.
  • Quests rewards were between 10k and 15k xp. Up to 20k for the difficult ones.
  • A new quest type is available: the "Bonus Objectives". When you walk around a zone, new objectives might appear randomly in your quest list. Completing the objectives will reward you with extra experience, leaving the area will drop the quest.

Shadowmoon Valley
  • Shadowmoon Valley is composed of lush green plains lit by the moonlight. It has a very peaceful feeling. The glades and forests are amazing and very colorful. You will find Naarus, Draeneis cities, and Iron Horde strongholds in the zone.
  • The Alliance starting zone seems pretty much finished. Lots of details, impressive vegetation, and a lot of different monsters.
  • I found a lot of monsters from The Burning Crusade that have been updated: Talbuks, Nether rays, Turtles, Larvas, Boars, Sporebats, Wolves, Bees. The new Talbuks and Sporebats models are EPIC.
  • Ner'zhul is the principal antagonist of the zone.
  • The zone ends with a scenario that I couldn't test because it wasn't available. It was called "Grommar's Purge" (Note: roughly translated)
  • I found the zone really well made. The vast plains and colorful glades immerse you entirely in the game. The scenery is new and doesn't give you a feeling of deja vu (except for some monsters, but it's not really shocking).

Misc
  • The new race models are great (I could also create a female dwarf). The facial expressions are awesome!
  • The new soundtrack is also very good.
  • When asked about the beta, Ion Hazzikostas answered : SoonTM.

SPOILER The zone ends with a pretty huge storyline twist, only click the line below if you do not care about spoilers. You should probably stay away from the comments of this news as well.

Ner'zhul uses an evil force, the Void Terror. At the end of the zone, you fight Ner'zhul and he manages to corrupt a Naaru into a "Dark Naaru". To purify the Naaru, Velen sacrifices himself and dies. This is a pretty huge plot twist and his death will be part of a cinematic at the end of the quest. It is followed by a giant battle. You join Maraad (freed from Ner'zhul earlier) to fight the Iron Horde.

Framerate problems today are usually more fillrate (from several layers of effects on top of each other) problems and less polygon problems. Graphics cards today can push fantastic ammounts of polygons. It's the textures and the layers of effects that cause fillrate peaks (and then there is the data traffic problem between clients, big lag spikes we had in SoD where caused by fast smart heal features during heroism, so blizzard slowed them down but increased the heal/tick).

I haven't played the game in months but the prospect of the new zones, new character models and stat rescaling gets me slightly excited to try the expansion. Just hope to get a preview soon of the Garrisons

I dont care, but for a wow clone, there are an awful lot of things wow is now copying from rift :P
haha. was Rift your first game? Sorry, but Warhammer had public quests and UO had champion spawns.. all basically the same thing. You can tell which game was someone´s first because that is the one they think is the ´original´..

It was simply abysmal and because that person was SO BAD at WoW we didn't even get to see anything.

Perhaps being more efficient with your talents and spells would be faster questing to see more, no?
I agree. Whoever made these videos didn't know what they were doing. I saw him spamming Charge.. while it was on CD, and he was in melee range already.

Oh yeah? That's cool... can we, y'know, see them? x_x

Really? Ally are all up in arms because a mirror version of one of their leaders gets killed? At least at the end of the x-pac, he'll still be around. The same can't be said about Cairne. But yeah, Horde favoritism and stuff...

And I thought shadows and water texture were the most useless graphic resource there was, but grass moving when you walk thru it? Wow, that's a massive waste.

80 quests in 5h? Boring quests with kill X and pick up X crap I guess.

Alliance fans complaining because Velen in an alternate reality is being killed.

Well guess what children, horde and orc fans who to put up with seeing fan favorites like nazgrim die as a boss, and now having to see ner'zhul, bladefist, deadeye, and maybe even grom die as bosses in WoD, while having to put up with the writers making them into bad guys.

Suck. It. Up! You don't have a clue how it feels seeing fav lore characters made into scapegoats for loots and bosses.

On a brighter note, good seeing Thrall in doomhammers armor, but why he'd wear it here is not explained, why would he wear armor they would have been made around this time for orgrim, and carry the doomhammer which would have been made the same.

Durotan was kind of uneventful his introduction, plus, he looks NOTHING like he does in the cinematic poster, he looks just like a generic orc, as does Thrall.

While Velen of Draenor dying off may indeed lead to the involvement of Velen of Azeroth, another important point to consider is what it will mean for the Draenei from the alternate world. Though Velen was willing to get things done, he was generally an advocate of peace. With him gone, however, leadership of the Draenei will likely fall to Maraad and Yrel, Draenei who are far more likely to break their enemy's necks than break bread with them. Killing off Velen may well be unleashing these Draenei and letting them show us how a race as ancient and powerful as they are goes to war.

The bonus Objectives sounds like the carnage quests from Rift, which i absolutely loved, although carnage quests didn't drop when you left the area.

100k health for mobs, while we have like 40-50k regular, that sounds good, sounds like monsters are a bit stronger now!
    Or atleast survive longer :P

How the hell can you compare Champ Spawns and Public quests with Carnage quests?

To the rants about Velen dying so soon:
(Insert "aliens" JPG reference here but substitute it with "time travel")

I would of figured the Doctor Who fans would know better about this. How about let the story play out and see what happens. Who knows... maybe Velen is a timelord himself.

Calling it again, evil Naaru as the bad guys.

Everyone so upset them killing Faux Velen no one is discusting the essence of the spoiler: we'll be fighting a dark Naaru? WTF??? in our timeline Naaru only came after the distruction of Draenor, when the BL already rulled Outlands. afaik draenei didn't had any Naaru in their ship when they left Argus

    inb4 rehashed Naaru models.

Why are they STILL butchering lore??
