That's interesting. WoW has not had that few subs since ~late 2006, when those numbers were on the rise instead of falling. Hopefully WoD brings some big things to the table to renew interest.

How does THAT affect the Q1 results?

Yes, they lost some subs, probably because Wildstar goes into open beta tomorrow, as soon as they announce that release date people will start trickling back and come launch day? *BOOYAH*
"BOOYAH" indeed at 7 million <<<<< 12 million.

At most we see a spike to 8 million +, then in 3 months, back to 7 million +.

Not sure where is "next expansion will save WoW optimism" is coming from. Not to mention, WoD looks to be the least feature pack expansion yet.

It's still amazing that it took almost 8 years to get to that point though. Crazy.

I really don´t understand all the people that goes OMG wow is dying, hope Wow lose subs and all that.

Sure i do understand people get tired, bored and just wants to move on too new games, but the good thing then is just quit the game and move on too another game, why do wow have to die just becouse you don´t like it anymore ? are you so addicted that you can´t leave a game for another without the game forcing you to leave.

But what ever games you like if its Wildstar, Rift, Swtor, Eso or any of the other really good games Wow going good is actually good for you too even if you don´t play Wow,
becouse it forces all the other company´s to keep coming up with new cool stuff to try and steal people from Wow.

People need to embrace one thing. WoW is OLD and the subs WILL drop, no matter what Blizzard does. The game is still great and probably better than it was in vanilla/TBC. Yes, unpopular opinion, but that's how I view it. Even though I had more fun in TBC, just because the game was a new thing to me. The game is good enough to be able to sustain itself for a LOOOOOOOONG time. I'd give it at least 10 more years before subs drop low enough for Blizz to pull the plug. People need to stop being such doomsayers and enjoy the game (or quit it, they are free to :P).

As for the server transfer, there's nothing keeping you from getting some honor and justice points together, getting some heirlooms and sending them to a new toon on another server(xrealm mail has been working a few months now). Takes no time to level anymore, so there is a free option to that. Plus toys and stuff will me account wide. Mounts and stuff already are, almost no reason to matter leveling new stuff now.
If you think GW2 is free to play you are mistaken completely, Buy to play is what it is and it has a less intrusive and annoying cash shop than WoW or free to play games, you BUY the game to PLAY it, it's like saying Diablo 3 is a F2P game.

Yeah i guess i have to change server like that, sucks for "my" character but yeah.

How come at times the comments won't load? I read a comment from someone some time ago experiencing this as well, saying it has to do with the amount of comments being dividable by 20 and that it's a bug?

In the literal since yes you're correct you have to buy the game and it's not technically F2P as a model. I'll reword this and say it's subscription-free. Which still doesn't change the comparison you made is not a valid one. You cannot compare a pay-to-win model against a subscription model. I do not like the P2W or tbh even F2P models. Usually those games just suck and don't hold any real interest, for me at least. I'm aware that is just my opinion. WoW regardless of what most think about it, has been worth it's $15/month overall.

But WotlK was called a bad expansion by many raiders because of the 12 month ICC and that this expansion removed the exclusive flair raiding had and opened not only raiding to everybody who had time and interest in doing so but also nerfed heroic dungeon so much that it turned into an aoe-nukefest. The majority of the players are not raiders and not very good players. For them WotlK offered more than Vanilla and BC and so they liked it.
I was a hard core raider in Wotlk, I never said it was bad back then, in fact I consider Wotlk the best expansion. Not necessarily because of raiding although I did enjoy Ulduar and Icc a great deal, it was mostly because of the setting and lore.
Stating things like 'many raiders thought this or that' is not a good way to claim things without any statistical evidence.

Wildstar? LOL its a sub game. Dead before it even launches!

If WoW had free to play casual accounts for people that own all the expacs it would have a base of 35 million. Just have restrictions on raids, arenas, bg queue limits. Have gold per day restrictions to keep farmers at bay. Nothing game changing. Just add micro transactions for a weekend raid/ arena pass etc. Id probably play again a few times a month and spend a few dollars. Its just not worth $14 a month to bounce around a capitol for hours on end bored to death a few days a month.

What is considered 'good' is very subjective and depends on how you measure quality. A Mc Donalds hamburger won't be considered good by any Michelin star chef, but it will be considered good by people that love the taste and want a quick and cheap meal. Those same people will probably agree that a chef made hamburger tastes way better, but is also way more expensive, so in the end the Mc Donalds burger is better.
Same goes for music and all other subjective stuff.

I doubt it. I for one won't be playing Wow if it'd ever go f2p. It cheapens the experience when the cash shop is such a big part of a game.
Main reason I quit Rift when it went f2p and don't play Swtor anymore.

You got my vote on that.

Sure, I guess they will get 500k maybe even 1 million - until October - when WoD is release most of them will come back. We saw that several times with many MMORPGs now.

    Sod off <_<;

The fact WoW's a decade old and still has this huge amount of subscribers is still a damn achievement.

When those numbers hit below 2m, then you lot can start ranting that it's dying. Til then, shut it.

Personally, I've pretty much stopped playing WoW - having played it for almost a decade, I'm bored of it. That doesn't mean it's a bad game.

Then why still lurk here? You obviously have some attachment issues with WoW.

    See you in WoD bro.
