Raid Testing Schedule - September 4-5

Mythic difficulty is designed for a fixed-size 20-player group.

Each encounter should be available at approximately the listed times below on all Beta servers.

Thursday, September 4
  • Kargath - Mythic Highmaul - 10:30 PDT (13:30 EDT, 19:30 CEST)
  • Tectus - Mythic Highmaul - 13:30 PDT (16:30 EDT, 22:30 CEST)
  • Ko'ragh - Mythic Highmaul - 16:00 PDT (19:00 EDT, 01:00 CEST)

Friday, September 5
  • Brackenspore - Mythic Highmaul -10:30 PDT (13:30 EDT, 19:30 CEST)
  • Hans'gar and Franzok - Mythic Foundry - 13:30 PDT (16:30 EDT, 22:30 CEST)
  • Operator Thogar - Mythic Foundry - 15:00 PDT (18:00 EDT, 24:00 CEST)

As always, this testing schedule is very fluid and subject to the realities of a beta environment. We might have to change the time of a testing session, change the boss being tested, or cancel a test entirely, due to bugs, fire, server hardware issues, etc. Keep an eye on this forum for the latest information, and thank you in advance for testing and providing feedback.

Valor Points and Lesser Charms Changes in Patch 6.0

No, gear that's already been upgraded will keep its current upgrade status. The only change is that, if you want to upgrade another item, you'll spend Lesser Charms instead of Valor.

Will the test of valor be removed pre-6.0? Must admit, the only truly annoying part about the quest is that.
No plans to remove Test of Valor prior to 6.0, no.

About the lesser charms though, I'm sitting on around 12,000 of them, clearly I'm going to run out of things to upgrade. What's going to happen to all of my excess charms?
Aside from item upgrades (which will only be available on Mists of Pandaria items), and Warforged Seals (which will only function in Siege of Orgrimmar), we have no additional plans for Lesser Charms.

Ah well, least I know I can keep turning them in for seals and then disenchanting what I get.
One other related change worth mentioning is that the turn-in quest for Warforged Seals is having its weekly restriction lifted in 6.0, so you can get as many Warforged Seals as you have charms for!

1. How many Lesser Charms will each upgrade cost? I am hoping that it isn't 1000 Lesser Charms to upgrade an item 4/4 like it is 1000 VP.
2. Is there any cap on how many times you can upgrade items with Lesser Charms in a week? I.E, if I have a toon with 17,000 charms, can I just upgrade a massive amount of items as soon as 6.0 goes live?

1. It's currently set to 50 Lesser Charms per upgrade, but that number isn't set in stone.
2. There are no additional caps being added for upgrades. Keep in mind that you can only upgrade each item a limited number of times.

What's going to happen to the valor vendors? I'm going to miss having that as a fallback to get upgrades.
Nearly everything that previously was purchased with Valor (or Justice) will now be purchased with gold instead. The only exception I'm aware of is Item Upgrades.

Seriously guys, step up the spawns in Skettis. One single person can monopolize the entire zone because one shotting + respawn time = pain in the butt.

SHAZAM-a-LAM! CRZ is gone, but it just so happens that the exact same number of people on your realm as were being coelesced to your realm from elsewhere have suddenly taken up interest in the activity you wanted less people to be doing, and so there is no noticeable change in the gameplay you're experiencing.

It's largely a psychological issue of perceiving others as invaders into your space and blaming the gate that allows them in, instead of what they are: other people in a massively multiplayer online game who belong there as much as anyone else. Which isn't to say it's not a legitimate or valid way to perceive others when vying for some of these sought after objects, but it's placing blame on a system that largely helps create and support the game's intended environment. Certainly if CRZ were gone you would probably have less competition for that object, and an easier time of obtaining it, but we're going to put effort into supporting the intended environment of the game (MMO's are full of people), and aren't going to avoid doing that because it makes intentionally difficult to obtain items actually difficult to obtain.

This is because CRZ was, always has been, and will be, a cost savings for them. This is not about making your leveling experience more crowded, hell you can buy your way past that. This is about them being able to reduce the cost of data centers, CPU cycles, bandwidth and storage.
CRZ doesn't do any of those things. It requires additional time, engineering efforts, processing power and bandwidth to bring people together across realms, not less. A more populated game world is the way World of Warcraft is best experienced, and that's why we put additional effort into maintaining it as a feature. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Want to try to respond primarily to Geodew's summary of other feedback. These are just randomly scattered responses, as I don't have time to do a line-by-line response, but figure this is better than nothing.

General response: You make some very fine points in here, but there's also a lot of bias. These responses below are primarily pointing out the places where we disagree, but there are many places in here that we agree with as well. Apologies if this comes off overly negative/dismissive; not my intention.

Intro) Remember that dissatisfied players are way way more likely to post about it. Mistweavers definitely did get some massive changes. In fact you just made a gigantic post about all of these changes.

1) Revival isn't underpowered (at least not by the giant amount you're talking about). Healing Tide Totem, which you're comparing to, is very overpowered. Tranq and DH are channeled and delayed. HTT is instant and delayed. Revival is instant and immediate, so absolutely should do the least net healing. The problem is that HTT was doing healing comparable to Tranq/DH, which is being fixed.

Fistweaving tuning is fairly far off right now, so its utility is hard for you to judge.

2) Renewing Mist is *partially* uncontrollable. The vast majority of it is effective. All of the math you did on chances for Uplift to hit injured targets is great, except that it assumes the ReMs and the damaged targets are randomly distributed.

ReM will be *extremely* worth it to cast on its own merits. I'm fairly certain that it is already.

Managing that partially uncontrollable healing to still produce solid results is a key tenant of Mistweaver healing style.

3) That's how Haste works for healers; not as much throughput (due to mana) as crit/multistrike, but it's reliable and getting that heal to your target faster is of intangible but high value.

4) This is a great example of psychological impacts of tuning in game design. Because Mastery has been weak in the past, it has to be overpowered before some people will like it. We're not planning to do that. No, it is not tuned around expecting your raiders to go out of their way to take advantage of it; that's just a strawman. Everything we're seeing from actual data indicates that it is effective. Only a small fraction of it ever gets truly wasted now, and that's offset by the fact that does less overhealing than average.

5) No, Crane Stance is not 'intended to be useless' in Mythic. That's silly. The tuning is off on it, and we'll fix it.

6) Chi Brew usable while casting/channeling seems reasonable.

7) What you're saying is accurate, but we don't expect that it will cause a problem for now.

8) Xuen is just undertuned, it sounds like.

9) That sounds like just how raiding leans towards AoE healing on average. Zen Sphere in particular we feel is just undertuned, and plan to increase it significantly.

10) We're not seeing that from our testing.

11) Yeah, we do see this, and it does violate a rule we generally have with talent design. Since it's an extremely fun combo, and the row it forces a choice in isn't a throughput row, and it's been this way forever, we're going to let it slide for now.

12) It isn't really PBAoE; you can place it wherever you want. It's a tight-AoE healing CD, which we do see as useful to a Mistweaver in some cases.

13) Yes, CE mostly replaces Uplift and EM (not completely, but mostly, which actually adds depth/complexity). That's intended, and the choice you're making.

Conclusion) Mistweaving is a very different healing style from other healers. It isn't the best fit for everyone, and that's fine (even good). I think the biggest difference is the indirectness. That may not suit you, and may suit others. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Except that "things change" only for one side. Things should change for the zone too, because... rules changed.

Stop being mad, bro. It's an MMO. If you want stuff handed to you, you really shouldn't be playing this game.
Nope, the zone was designed to function with weaker players and with a population that would, as times goes by, "age" and move on. Not to get a constant influx of new one-shotting powerful players comming everyday. The load is far higher than a high-pop server would have by now (you're expanding the universe of ppl who would want to do that by a LOT), but the game rules for that area didn't change to acommodate that as it should.

It's exactly the same crap for rares, resources, etc and why they changed the spawn rates to match the waaaay higher number of players.

Lol at CRZ replies by blues. He's right, CRZ is not an issue, player's unwillingness to group up is.

If players made a group in Skettis, both of them would get rep faster. But they are too lazy to do that so they complain.

Because you can't join each other's guilds, trade with 'em, or hold them accountable in any way whatsoever.

MMORPG isn't generally thought to mean Massively Anonymous Multiplayer Role Playing Game. Sure, you don't know everybody on your server, but at least if they keep playing the same character you can remember them for next time.

I left my PVP server partially over CRZ. For PVP servers, CRZ is just a blight on the game. Gankers who are there and gone, no way to get 'em back? Griefers love it, everybody else thinks Blizzard is channeling Comcast or something.

In the end, the most important part of the MMORPG acronym is the G for Game, and a Game should be fun. CRZ has never made or caused me to have fun. I've never had a single interaction with CRZ that increased the fun, or was even 'fun neutral'. Every time I notice CRZ, it's because it has made my experience less fun.

I believe what they mean by this is like the the gear tokens in TI, you'll be able to just click on it and it will become the tier piece you need. No more needing the token plus the Valor,JP whatever you need along with the token and no more having to wait til after the raid or holding up the raid while you play the ever popular game of where the hell is the tier vendor =P

They were middle of the pack on 5-6 minute kills...now they will be less than middling.
