Warlords of Draenor Beta - Build 18898
Yet another Beta build is on the way.

  • Garrisons now have access to trade chat!
  • Players that completed the Legendary cloak achievements will get a title: Legend of Pandaria.
  • The legendary quest series is now displaying correctly on WoWDB.
  • Tier set items can have sockets, be Warforged, and have tertiary stats like other raid loot. You won't be able to see the stats until you use the token. (olandgren)
    • WoW is less fun when you don't have loot to anticipate. This provides a way to offer the chance without upsetting tier balance. (olandgren)

    Our view: Bad feeling when it doesn't (most of the time).

    Sorry but if I want loot this random, I'd grind Diablo.

    nah. CotFW anyone can get at any time they want in a matter of secs. While anyone can get the cape (i.e., there is no real challenge per se) the challenge is dedicating the time to get it. pretty much anyone just resubbing today and really not aware of the game since 5.0 or 5.1 won't get their bearings straight and get the legendary quest done in time.

    further, i know plenty of people who for whatever reason just never did it--usually they stall out at the "do BGs" phase or on the valor quest. in ways its the antithesis of CotFW. It got super easy as the game progressed, especially for new players, etc. legendary questline will literally be deleted and unattainable.

    i still think deleting it is dumb... id rather have no title and ability to get cape than have a title and cancel the quest.

    doesnt that mean everyone will want tier pieces till they get all the good stats? :/

    I never bothered because I'm not in a raiding guild and don't enjoy LFR. Even after flex came out, I wasn't interested in grinding raids every week for months to get a cloak that'll be useless in a few months. (This was when we were expecting a summer expansion release.)

    I might go back and finish it on my most progressed character-- he was up to the ToT gathering phase when I switched to a different main-- but....

    Random rolls on tier gear kind of bums me out. It's just going to breed resentment and make people want the same tokens week after week to try for better results. >.<;

    I personally enjoyed the tier slots being a one-and-done affair over the potentially Warforgeable slots.

    I tend to agree. Randomizing off-pieces I'm fine with, but tier tokens have enough competition, this was not needed, nor will it make for a fun group dynamic.

    Even if some of the community is stuck in entitlement mode, the rest of us just dont care.

    The tier idea is brilliant and most of you don't understand: primary and secondary stats remain the same they won't be randomized. You only have a small percent chance to have a tier item with a socket, tertiary stat or warforged status included. It's cool because all those extra token that nobody needs now, can be rolled for an extra chance to get something better, specially when the coin gives you a tier token instead of X loot.

    No, I think we understand. There won't ever be an "extra tier token" because people will constantly be fighting over the tier token of the tier they already have in hopes of getting the bonus. In guilds it might be manageable with rules, but in pugs and even with ninjas it will be another big issue.

    The only bonus of this could occur in Flex now Normal because the loot system is personalized.

    Unless I'm missing something and Heroic and Mythic loot is now personalized as well?

    Any piece that's not WF+sockt+3erstats will be pretty much useless... that's.

    for people that think that "extra" is cool... is only cool if they are "extra" but socket and WF gear will be pretty much mandatory like right now... Gear is the only way for Caracter Power in WoW. and should no be RNG so hard like now. boss will drop 4-5 piece. start praying to RNGod for your piece to drop and be +WF+socket+3er stats.

    I guess I have to up my puppy sacrifices to get the *LUCKY* tier pieces. Utter bullcrap. Like A previous poster said, if I wanted all the RNG in my gear, I'd be playing diablo.

    Going to hate this. Everyone is going to want tier tokens until they get that 1% perfect piece. With all the rest of gear you can pass on standard gear because it doesn't have an increased ilvl, tetrary stats, or a socket. This is going to just waste tons of tier tokens.

    As if RNG wasn't bad enough...it works for d3 as you can get over a10 legs in less than an hour but for WoW it sounds really really bad.

    LFM challenge mode, need to have at least X sockets.

    You will care. Especially when things will come to recruitment, if you will ever want to find raid guild, you won't be taken if RNG didn't favor you.

    And why it will fail in WoW, is because it has weekly lockouts. In games like Diablo you can grind until you turn green in face.

    Let us see.
    Chance to get token per week: 50% (I am being very generous as competition will never stop).
    Chance for it to be warforged: 50% (yet again I am being very generous here).
    Chance for it to have socket: 50% (yet again I am being very generous here).
    Chance for it to have desired tertiary stat: 20% (very generous, assuming you have 20% chance per stat, and 20% of no stat).

    Calculation: You need minimum 40 weeks in order to get 1 (one) desired tier piece (still no warranty). By the time you get that one desired tier piece, the whole raid tier will already become obsolete.

    I am so glad I am done with this game. WoD is recipe for disaster in all game aspects. It is going to be far worse than Cata (and the massive destruction of guilds by "flexible lockouts"), and it is too late for developers to fix all their mistakes already.

    P.S.: One of many reasons why WotLK was loved, is because it was expansion with least RNG in WoW. Even heroic tier tokens in t9/10 were made either classless or slotless, bosses didn't have loot tables 100 pages long and badges were actually useful (a lot of various gear pieces, BoA reputation hand-ins, gems, raid craft mats and even some BoE pieces of gear which made some living for the raiders). Blizzard knows that raiders are minority of players, still they want to push RNG sky-high, something which was hated since EQ1.
