Holy shit, not everyone is in the same music as you. More at 11.

This read is just a small example of why Blizzard will never win with anything they do. At least in terms of "opinion."
Hence why they go right for the $$$$$$$

HA.......... Blizzard pulled it off in epic fashion.
As much as they manage to polarize players into Horde vs Alliance. They even manage to sign up one of the most controversial bands of all time.
Metallica, ever since either loved or despised. The hostility in this tread, hilarious... Who needs Jerry Springer anymore.. MMO-C tops him with ease.

    My own opinion...
Nice catch. Not too big of a Metallica fan, but certainly a band that knows how to master their instruments.
Won't forgive em their Napster stunt either though. But I guess, that has nothing to do with their skills. So yeah, nice catch.

Mate. have some respect and gain some historical knowledge about the genre you supposedly like (Ramstein, cute).

Kill Em All, Ride, Master and AJFA are all genre defining albums for Heavy metal, for there time they were all balls to the wall heavy, not so much these days but they are still timeless and relevant albums for anyone who likes heavy metal.

Wasnt a fan of much Metallica did post And Justice For All, save a few songs here and there off Black Album, and personally i think they are a waste on the lacklustre Blizzcon crowd.

Metallica was relevant back when? 1995 ish?

So who exactly is "relevant" then?.

Good music is still good music, and timeless to boot.

If they booked the Rolling Stones for Blizzcon for instance it would still be a great show, as the back catalog is full of timeless classic.

Are they still "relevant" in as much as they are still producing hit music...no...but i personally would rather to listen and see a band live that knows there craft, has good music instead of some flash in the pan horseshit relevant band that's come and gone in under two years, Imagine Dragons etc

This Metallica thing annoys me because it seems like it's more the desire of the WoW devs than what the people who play the game would want.

Blizzard does something nice that they didn't have to do. Fans bitch anyway.

Yup, nothing out of the ordinary.

While I totally agree with what you just said...... The Stones... Nowai Blizzard would get them.
Flash and the Pan wasn't a bad band btw pretty nice new wave music

Part of me agrees that on some level it more is the desires of the dev team than anything else booking Metallica, but honestly historically you only need to look at the unresponsive lacklustre crowds that come to Blizzcon concerts and stand there stone faced not even moving to bands like Ozzy, Blink, Foo Fighters etc, all great bands imo. (sorry is it not trendy to like mainstream music)

If i was a company as big as Blizzard i would probably also just book all the bands that i would personally want to see, especially knowing that the fanbase is either going to rip you to shreds with any decision you make anyway, or be a comatose zombie on the dance floor anyway.

I'd rather it be an event for staff to be proud of there company in booking some of the biggest names in rock history, i mean cmon its a video game company that goes ahead and books AAA Bands for there own conventions.

It is Blizzcon, the closing act is probably the least important part of the weekend.
Don't like it? Don't watch! This really isn't worth 19(+) pages of drama.

Even more so, when a competitor pulls an ace out from underneath their cloak like this....

it's kinda like, eat shit Blizzard, beat that for a trailer music.

Heh, not surprised at all after that Orange County Choppers show they did.
These guys are like 40+ old geezers who still think they're in high-school in early 90s, where Metallica was still cool and comicbooks the height of their education.

I think they honestly think it's still cool - that's kinda shocking.
If you like metal, you could have booked someone more honest, someone quite not as hostile to this newfangled "online" stuff and maybe someone from this century...

But it's cool, rock on Samwise and Metzen.. you're totally not pathetic old guys :-)

Hard to believe you play a game developed by "old geezers."

There isn't any act from the 21th century..
All dominating acts are from the last century, since there hasn't been anything since anymore.

    Here's a start.
    http://www.ranker.com/list/the-50-be...demon24?page=1

What some here request is totally unrealistic.....
People think because they like a certain sub genre of another sub genre, the music from that is what everyone wants to hear.. Nope, not the way it goes.
Blizzcon tickets cost a lot of money, and part of that package is the closing act.
The names on the list of those acts are all pretty spectacular so far. Means Blizzard has a reputation, a tradition to confirm with that.
Metallica actually fits right into this pattern.

I kept waiting and waiting for the actual ace music you were referring to but it never came.

    Stop being ignorant lol

It's a huge feat to get Led Zeppelin to let their catalog being used for a video game ad.
