Patch 6.2 - PvP Gear
Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Since we started testing the new patch on the public test realm, we’ve taken a lot of time to read a great deal of your feedback on PvP, with a lot of focus on how Versatility items are being handled in Patch 6.2. We want to make sure we’re making our intentions clear regarding Champion’s Strongboxes.

First, it’s important to consider what isn’t changing in the next season. Like any other season, players will be able to acquire a full set of Wild Gladiator gear, including their weapons, by doing nothing more than competing in the Arena and then going to the gear vendor. Play Arenas steadily, and you’ll earn a full set of gear at the maximum ilevel possible for PvP. This ensures that a player can be competitive at the highest levels without ever worrying about Champion’s Strongboxes.

At the same time, when a player wants to pursue a very specific set of gear, we want Patch 6.2 to have some new avenues to do so.

We’re making some items obtainable exclusively from Champion’s Strongboxes, and there are two ways to get them. The first way you can earn a Champion’s Strongbox is by winning 3 rated battlegrounds in a week. Before Patch 6.2, you had a chance to win an item for each of your first 3 wins, but in Patch 6.2 you’re guaranteed to get an item after your third win each week. You can also earn an additional Champion’s Strongbox each week by completing the weekly quest Ashran Dominance.

We’ve heard loud and clear that some players take issue with the fact that Champion’s Strongboxes are only available from Rated Battlegrounds and Ashran. We feel that the unique nature of the reward lends itself well to being obtained via PvP content that is exclusive to an expansion, as Ashran is for Warlords of Draenor. We also like it when a reward like this requires a higher degree of player organization, like Rated Battlegrounds do.

As always, our goal is to make it possible for players to acquire the gear they need to compete and enjoy PvP in WoW, while bringing some variety to the acquisition process. Overall, players will be receiving more gear next season than ever before.

We appreciate your feedback on PvP, and look forward to seeing you out there.

That's still not abuse. Problem is opposite: Going a whole tier without an item ever dropping
.This is pretty much the reason JP/VP/frost emblems were added. WOTLK model was good, imo. (Muffinus)

Go after specific pieces (coins slightly). Benefit of emblems was buy what you want. Unfortunately emblems failed too once you got past normal mode. Coins work bc they add the randomness factor to loot, but getting the same piece twice sucks.
So that's what needs to be fixed. Not creating a whole new supplemental loot list for emblems
What if it was the same loot list? (Muffinus)

PvP
I could definitely see some value for that in WoW in more casual content like unrated battlegrounds or PvP zones. (holinka)
I think that's why people liked old AV, you could do side things that added up eventually if you werent the biggest pvper.
I agree (holinka)

Would love to see Huttball style game type.
We have talked about it. Certainly lots of fans of that map. (holinka)

have you considered tutorials for new players to get into pvp?
Certainly think we could explain battlegrounds better. But feel players have already spent a lot of time with their class. (holinka)

Misc
Lately, I've noticed a lot of competitive MP games offering small frequent PvE victories to hedge defeats at the hands of other players. (holinka)
Covering ground with your ink in Splatoon is a great example of a small victory that makes a player feel like they're contributing. (holinka)
You can literally run around shooting the ground and feel like you've made a difference for your team. (holinka)
But there will always be a place for hardcore modes like WoW Arena that are 100% PvP for highly skilled and dedicated players. (holinka)
Other examples include killing the bots in a Titanfall match or killing minions merc camps in Heroes. (holinka)
Killing Merc camps in Heroes as a loner can easily lead to very bad things happening to your team. Doesn't quite fit the example.
.It's definitely true that a player can become distracted by the easy victory and hurt their team overall. It's a valuable nuance. (holinka)

Deadly Throw (Assassination) no longer interrupts spellcasting when used with 5 combo points. Now reduces the target's movement speed by 70%, up from 50%.

Now thats how you clearly render a talent useless. The high end 3s players QQ because they can't LoS and boom this gets nerfed. But this is far from a nerf, its clearly rendered useless now. GG

Firelands patch was released in late June, so it's not outside the realm of possibility. I wouldn't expect anything until after E3.

This is exactly what every shaman player knew would happen.. They nerfed the multistrike thingy and now with each new set of patch notes they increase it again and call it a buff..
Maybe next time leave things as they are if they aint gonna give them shamans a buff anyways.

Hopefully i can play my 3 mains on higher than hc pug first mythic again with my fav specs. Frost Mage. Demo Lock. Disc Priest.
I even had to fotm level a bm hunter just to have a reason to play.

Question is when, if ever, we gonna get to have all 3 specs active. When i get the taste for my priest i want to be able to chose one of the three specs. Its annoying rebinding everything all the time (shadow/holy).

I don't understand the balance change, is it a nerf or a buff? It almost seems completely pointless. Anyone who understands it mind explaining it to me? I'm genuinely confused.
