Patch 6.2.2 - Timewalking Rewards
Patch 6.2.2 adds more rewards to Timewalking! You can see Cupri in Shattrath (Outland) to purchase these items for Timewarped Badge, rewarded from running Timewalking dungeons.

Each boss currently drops 125 Timewarped Badge, with the final boss dropping 200. This means the average Burning Crusade dungeon rewards 475 Timewarped Badge and the average Wrath of the Lich King dungeon would reward 575. Keep in mind that the drop rate and prices are not final!

Patch 6.2.1 and 6.2.2

Adding patch 6.2.1 to the PTR as early as possible gave us an opportunity to begin testing flying right away so that we could identify and squash any bugs that players could experience when they take to the skies of Draenor. With the patch being on the PTR as early as possible we also aimed to minimize the amount of time we needed to test the patch. The update to Patch 6.2.2 added some additional data that we couldn’t add to the patch prior to the announcement of the next expansion.

We know many want to know an exact date of when the patch will go live, but we’re not ready to share a specific date as of yet. We are, however, working to make sure the wait isn’t much longer.

I gotta say, I really feel sorry for Neth. I appreciate them coming in to talk with us, but I'm sorry she keeps getting put into these bad situations.
There's no need to feel sorry for me. It's OK. We just felt it was worth answering the concerns people had about the change in the patch on the PTR.

Correct me if I am wrong, but what you're saying is that flight in itself is now delayed to test "additional data" that couldn't be added prior to the announcement of next expansion.
No, we're not saying it's been delayed, as I said in the previous post- "we wanted to reassure everyone that our development plans for the patch are still on track."

So then what was preventing you from releasing this patch as is without bogging it down by including extra fluff?
We're still testing and making sure we identify and fix any last bugs involving flight. Releasing "as is" could have issues we haven't resolved go live which would just create a poor experience for people who have been looking forward to flying.

We understand the frustrations and passion for this topic coming from the community. As always, I would just ask that those who take time to discuss it remember to avoid violating the forum Code of Conduct and keep it clean.

Well don't take this the wrong way, but when we get called by Watcher in an interview "we think it will only be out in a couple of weeks" back in June, and it's now haflway through August, I think players have a right to be a little mad and cynical.

Completely understandable. I don't think anyone on our end is unaware of the frustration that everyone has expressed. We'll keep doing what we can to keep everyone in the know.

Oh they're aware at this point, no doubt. I think the question ask nowadays is just whether or not they care.

We definitely care.

Our aim throughout has been to provide a more consistent experience, but there have been other bugs exposed as we applied various fixes in pursuit of that goal, which required new fixes, and so forth. Fingers crossed, but we think we're at a final state at this point.

The core of the original problem lay in Dia's nature as a Shadow-school-exclusive caster with a variety of spells, one of which (Void Bolt) needed to respect school lockout when interrupted, and Mark of the Necromancer's exponential growth that makes Reap timing very important.

A history of changes here:

Original state: Nightmare Visage respected school lockout, and because Reap could not be cast during Nightmare Visage, the exact timing and quantity of Void Bolt interrupts could cause huge variance in Reap's timing, and thus the damage taken from Mark of the Necromancer. Some players figured out an exact interrupt order to reliably cause Reap to be delayed so that it started coming after Mark, pretty much trivializing Mark for the rest of the fight.

Reap Hotfix #1 (August 3): Because it was a problem that the danger posed by Mark/Reap could vary drastically from pull to pull, we made Visage ignore school lockout, which made its timing more predictable, and thus Reap's timing as well. We realized that many guilds had only killed the fight by manipulating the timing to get the optimal Reap/Mark order, so we also nerfed Mark damage at the same time to help offset the potential increase in difficulty.

Post-Hotfix #1: This mostly addressed the problem, though quirks in AI timing meant that it was still rarely possible to get the "easy" spell order. The new timing exposed an even worse bug, however. Dia could not Reap while Darkness was occurring. Previously, delayed Visage casts tended to cause these two abilities to not intersect. But after our hotfix, there was a predictable window, about 6:30 into the fight, where they would line up, and the result was to delay Dia's fifth Reap by a significant amount, causing Mark damage to ramp out of control and almost certainly cause a wipe. Not good.

Hotfix #2 (August 11): We fixed the issue with Darkness preventing Reap, and rebuilt the way Reap/Mark work, and now force Dia to re-cast Mark after each Reap so that they can never get desynced and the variance in Mark damage from pull to pull should go way down.

Post-Hotfix #2: The change to Darkness/Reap interaction also increased the effective duration of Darkness (a side-effect, not the core intended change), which increased the damage and positioning disruption from that ability.

Hotfix #3 (August 13): We're going to be reducing the duration of Darkness to match how it used to be prior to Hotfix #2.

We're generally hesitant to buff fights once they're in the wild, and didn't set out here with the intent of making the encounter strictly more difficult (hence the offsetting nerf to Mark damage in Hotfix #1 above). The goal was always to reduce large variation in the fight's difficulty from pull to pull, which makes for a frustrating experience. There were admittedly a few more pitfalls along the way than we expected. Please let us know if you continue to experience any frustrations or apparent bugs here.

PvP
(PvP talent system (Abilities only work in PvP). Bad!. I should be able to use any ability anytime and not have 2x as many binds.
We think that's an important concern and we don't plan on giving you tons of buttons that only work in PvP. (holinka)

The bitter ppl at AJ complain a lot about disregarded PVP feedback during WoD beta. Let's erase this track record?
In the past we had a lot less PvP-only knobs to tune. It will be much easier to act on feedback going forward. (holinka)

how they gonna give feedback when they don't even have a beta key.
We want feedback from a wide range of skill levels. The game isn't made exclusively for one group. (holinka)
but good quality feedbacks can only be from skilled players. And the balance of PvP is based around 3s.
We disagree that good quality feedback can only come from the most skilled players. (holinka)
I've seen solid feedback from people that aren't rank 1. I've seen lousy feedback from people that are rank 1. (holinka)
Of course I've seen really awesome feedback from rank 1 players that really understand our goals for the game. (holinka)
Ultimately the best feedback is relaying your own experiences playing the game. Not trying to design it. (holinka)
all I'm askin is giving the true PvP community a chance to at least participate
It's reasonable to ask that people capable of giving good feedback are in the beta (holinka)
Don't really like generalizing what group is the "true pvp community" though. Every voice matters. (holinka)

Reputation / Questing
I do however have faith in and crew. I expect 100 to 109 will be fine whatever else happens in Legion.
I appreciate the vote of confidence =) The designers are doing a fantastic job with the level-up zones so far. (craig_amai)
I think the large variety helps stay clear of the 10,000 orc feel, and things still feel well wrapped together. (craig_amai)
Thinking back to Wrath as a comparison, there were vrykul, undead, dragons, faction conflict, but it still felt like one place. (craig_amai)
I personally am heading up the artifact feature this time, but I love what I've been seeing from the level-up so far! (craig_amai)

Beta
Lots of fantastic lore questions for Legion coming in. We're not ignoring you, but we can't answer here. Be patient, beta is coming soon! (Abrosiabi)

had to chime in on the amount of timewalking tokens, at 125 a boss and 200 for last boss, that simply is to low imo, given that they have given us a TON of stuff to buy and the mount costs 50k...i was hoping/thinking the tokens make like about 1k a run, lines up to being 5 runs for a 5k item, 10 runs and you can get something nice...

Lets take uthguard pinnacle for example, it has 4 bosses, undead chick, the summons boss, skadi, and then king, so thats 125x 3 (375) + 200 for king so 575...a bit low dont you think? i understand they want it to be a grind, but honestly at that many runs its not even worth it, given that at on average u might get 600 ish tokens, you'd have to run 10 runs to get ONE item...maybe its more like it was back in the day, but i'm pretty sure that system was more fair (its been 6 years my memory is a bit hazy)

There's some dungeons with only 3 bosses so 450? so if you want the mount and averaging 500 a run..@ 50k...every 10 runs is 5k ish, so you are looking at over 100 runs give or take, how many do you think you can do in a weekend? you would have to be pretty much dedicate the entire weekend to running them nonstop, i mean granted you can do them casually and just get say 25k 1 weekend and 25k the next, but there are lots of people who rather grind it out and get it done, and over time they simply wont do them once it all gotten

I can see blizzards view on this, less tokens, means more runs, means more time spent and grinding, rewards come slower..been there done that, I'm just saying it should be about 1k a run, not 500, if it was 1k a run, looking at 50 runs for the mount, 50 runs is still a significant time investment, vs 100 @ 500, even in a fast clear group, each dungeon clearing take you 20 min, so maybe 3 an hour...so for 100 runs for 50k tokens? 10 hours is 30 runs...looking at almost 40+ hours of mind numbing grinding for the mount, as a tank its pretty fast, but as a dps? you maybe might get 2 runs an hour..or less

and unless they make these tokens boa/boe or something, alt runs is going to be hell too, i can see myself grinding the mount on my main, but the gear i could use on my alts, have to grind them too, the goal of these weekend things was to avoid so much burn out..but...with these tokens now its going to happen, maybe even more so than they think, people are going to be bored as hell come a few months from now, temporary content with a carrot and a stick, but i guess...any content atm is good content

As dps if you're waiting in queue for each run at about 30 min each that's over 43 hours of time spent waiting to get into the dungeon if you're just going for the 50k mount. Youch. Let's say 8 hours a day for the 4 days a month timewalking is available and 20 minute clears, you'd get about 9 runs a day or 36 for the whole timewalking event per month. It would take you at least 3 months (with leftovers on month 3) to get the mount.

Ooor they haven't decided how many will drop or how much the things cost, and those are placeholders?

You can't be serious. If that's a problem, exclude those 2... so hard isn't it? Instead, let them run only 5 dungeons from each xpac. Have fun defending them.

I do so hope those are placeholder numbers. I would say that 10 timewalking dungeons per weekend is a reasonable number to do. You certainly could do more, but I think that's a reasonable number to expect. At that rate, it would take 5 times through the bonus weekend rotation to get the 50,000 badges needed for each mount, so maybe 18 months to get the badges needed for both mounts. A year and a half of never missing a timewalking weekend to get two mounts? That seems a little steep by my standards.

i already see the endless farm ahead...

i would have thought u have to keep doing them all year till you have enough, kinda like how the legendary works but instead of going into a raid for the tokens to drop u get them threw timewalking.
They make the number of required tokens high enough so its impossible to get them all in the 1st week, u then have to then do it the second week but still not enough, you go threw this week after week and blizz know even though u are just collecting tokens you will be back next week to continue the grind then the week after, i see this as blizz making u play timewalker ...every.. month just to get the tokens you want.

if you want the mount or X item you have two chioces with TWing you can grind ALL weekend or can do it at your own pace and it span out month after month, either way blizz win because at the end of they day if you are time walking

ps speaking of events why not make ALL events become available on the weekend instead of just one of them, for me its annoying when you look at the callendar to see what event it is this weekend.

Oh great! pvp weekend. pokemon weekend. Great!, i dont pvp or do pet battles what a waste of 2 events guess ill have to wait 2 weeks for the thing i actually want to become available

you don't remember when LFD was introduced and they had to give extra rewards to players to complete Oculus or waiting when a healer saw Halls of Reflection and bailed. Heals insta-quit. I suspect if all the dungeons were opened, We'd see only a few get regular completion.

That said, I'd love to see more opened up, but I'm not shocked with the dungeons they chose - they're the most straight forward ones. Ones with unique patterns would not make sense for the "Get 5 dungeons done in 4 days" mentality the current, annoyed player base has. No one wants to sit and explain how the drakes work, the right path in Pit of Saron, how to do Halls of Reflection in Wrath, or how to handle the packs in Slabs or the backwards elevator unlock in the Mechanar.

I personally believe that these Time walking weekends and such are a way of testing this system. Once they're sure they'll roll it out bigger with more dungeons. Possibly in the Expansion. I believe we'll also get Cata dungeons too.

average will be 575 per dungeon so you need to run 174 dungeons to get both mounts.

TBH this isnt as bad as some grinds I have done and TBC and WOTLK mats still sell well.

Certainly telling that people are up in arms over one issue currently, flying. It serves no purpose but to make the game easier, less immersive, and more single player friendly. Another fine example of how bad blizzard destroyed this genre and their own game alongside it by putting these types of people at the forefront of their list of importance.

Analogous to an iq of 136 actually being top 1% in the world. It's not even that high but it goes to show the masses are just dumb as rocks. Since they're the masses, if you cater to such, this is what you end up with. Same with McDonald's workers getting 15 an hour, gays getting "married", and drug users getting longer prison sentences than rapists and violent assaults.

Cater to the sheep. It's the one item that placates me when it comes to aging and dying. I understand how our grandparents felt about the younger generation. It gets worse and worse every go round and the jump from my generation to the current is staggering in terms of its ignorance.

Perhaps they can just unlock everything for free after 5 dungeons? That would be cool right? As it is the best players in game and the worst will have a 10 item level difference at the end of this xpac. Everyone will have an account full of 100s they can't play due to toons starting at 90 and free boosts. It's a joke. A flipping joke.
