Gamescom Legion Stream - Patch 7.1 Return to Karazhan
Slootbag streamed from Gamescom today with WatcherDev. Karazhan is coming back as a dungeon in Patch 7.1!

Patch 7.1 - Return to Karazhan
  • Karazhan is coming back as a large five player dungeon with all nine bosses.
  • The old Karazhan will still exist, you can still go and farm it for things.
  • There will also be a small additional raid between The Emerald Nightmare and The Nighthold that wraps up the Stormheim story.
  • Patch 7.1 will also have outdoor content associated with Suramar that pushes forward the Nightfallen story.
  • Patch 7.1 is coming to the PTR right after Legion launches!
  • Encounters have been play tested internally, it is good to go.

Game Development
  • There was a period where the team focused on faster expansions, sacrificing things that they shouldn't have. This made the experience worse.
  • The focus going forward is a steady stream of content.
  • Priority #1 is making sure that you don't run out of things to do.
  • The team is never going to rush an expansion, they will be released when they are done.
  • Ensuring there is always content in the live game while working on the expansions is important.
  • Raid tiers should last around 4 to 5 months.
  • This time around there won't be a content drought - "Don't worry, we got you!"

Sounds short for raid tiers. 17 bosses total between the two instances would be a lot for 4-5 months.

i can not comprehend how it took them 8 years to realize this. yeah the reader of mmo champion can be entertained by beta updates for the 15 months they ignored the live game but everyone else just unsubbed
It's the same hollow promise every tier, every expansion.

What do you mean? They say this PR BS before every new expansion. Along with the "There won't be a content drought THIS TIME"

God, the MMO-C "fanbase" is just too rotten. They can't be excited with news, instead they choose to be triggered and angry over things said, before the fact.

I think it's pretty damned fantastic if they've FINALLY abandoned the "quicker expansions!!"-mentality forced upon them by players with the mentality of fat kids eating cake.

I don't know, MoP was pretty damned tight up until SoO lasting 14 months... and it still had a pretty damned fine retention power.

    This got me excited.

"Epic" Dungeon, 'a la' BRD, 9 bosses, 'sort of' a 5man raid... all those sound awesome.

Hoping for no content draught this expansion!

So 7.1 hits PTR at launch, tiers are planned to last 4-5 months. Could 7.1 be launching some time mid-tier? That would be pretty awesome..

In WoD the idea was to rush expansions to not have content drought (1 year expansions). But legion turned to be pretty big and they don't want to cut content from it to close the content drought gap in WoD. This time around content patches are in priority and next expansion not so much.

inb4 rehashed content... although very few will have a problem with this particular rehash... Karazhan is almost universally loved.
