Tomb of Sargeras Boss Guides » Mistress Sassz'ine Guide

Mistress Sassz'ine is an encounter in the Tomb of Sargeras raid in World of Warcraft. Our strategy guide will help you to defeat the Mistress Sassz'ine encounter and the loot listing below contains all of the loot they drop on each difficulty.

Positioning

The boss should be tanked around the center of the room.
Concealing Murk and Thundering Shock will limit the movement area.
Slicing Tornado can appear from any direction. When it does, position yourself behind a pool of Concealing Murk.
In phase 2 and 3, be aware of Vellius casting Crashing Wave. The only safe zones will be on the edges of the room.
In phase 2 and 3, keep your distance from Sarukel, as getting inhaled by Devouring Maw will do significant damage.

All Roles

Avoid standing in Concealing Murk and Thundering Shock.
Players marked with Hydra Shot should run away from the boss, and two players should stand between the boss and the target to share the damage.
Do not soak Hydra Shot if you already have the Hydra Acid debuff.
Slicing Tornado is deadly, but if it touches Concealing Murk it will provide a safe zone.
If affected by Consuming Hunger, stand in a Thundering Shock to knock the Razorjaw Waverunner off your back.
Ossunet will drop Befouling Ink throughout the room, but these can be picked up and moved.
- Make sure designated players move these to Sarukel.
When Sarukel casts Devouring Maw, you need to stand at least 15 yards away while actively running away from him.
Devouring Maw will be interrupted when he inhales 3 Befouling Ink clouds, so it's important that they are moved as close to him as possible.
Vellius will cast Crashing Wave which can be avoided by running to the edges of the room that are clear. The affected region is indicated by a blue visual which cuts the room in half.

DPS

Prioritize killing Abyss Stalkers and Razorjaw Waverunners before attacking the boss.
If there is Slicing Tornado incoming, Abyss Stalkers need to be killed in order to break the wall.

Healers

Players fixated by Water Blast will be taking a significant amount of damage.
Thundering Shock can be dispelled from anyone who is hit by it.
If the tank affected by Burden of Pain gets hit by the boss, the raid will take a significant amount of damage.
Devouring Maw does constant frost damage until it is interrupted. Assigning healing cooldowns to this might be a good idea.
Players repositioning the Befouling Ink clouds will be taking high ticking damage.

Tanks

The tank affected by Burden of Pain should not have aggro on anything.
Make sure to pick up and position the Abyss Stalkers in a place where they break the Slicing Tornado.

Overview - Handpicked to watch over the flooded passageways, Mistress Sassz'ine stands ready to retrieve the Tidestone from those foolish enough to enter her domain.
- Damage Dealers -
  - Slay Abyss Stalkers at the correct time to ensure that Concealing Murk is available for Slicing Tornado.
  - Stand behind Concealing Murk to prevent being struck by Slicing Tornado.
  - Bring Befouling Ink to Sarukel, The Unending Hunger when he opens his Devouring Maw.
- Healers -
  - Stand behind Concealing Murk to prevent being struck by Slicing Tornado.
  - Bring Befouling Ink to Sarukel, The Unending Hunger when he opens his Devouring Maw.
- Tanks -
  - When afflicted with Burden of Pain, attempt to minimize Physical damage taken.
  - Stand behind Concealing Murk to prevent being struck by Slicing Tornado.
Delicious Bufferfish - Picking up a Delicious Bufferfish grants an additional 2% damage dealt. Healers instead restore 500 mana every 1 sec. These effects increase every 5 sec, up to 50 stacks.Taking any damage causes the Delicious Bufferfish to drop onto the ground.
- Dread Shark - A Dread Shark may catch the scent of a Delicious Bufferfish! It will devour the Bufferfish and all players within 10 yds after 6 sec.
Hydra Shot - Marks players for a piercing Hydra Shot. After 6 sec, each arrow inflicts 2,898,000 Physical damage to all targets up to that player, split among those struck. Each player struck also gains a stack of Hydra Acid.
- Hydra Acid - Hydra acid covers a target, inflicting 89,100 Nature damage every 1 sec for 6 sec. This effect stacks and stuns for 6 sec upon reaching 2 or more stacks.
Burden of Pain - Curses a target with wracking pain, causing them to suffer 768,000 Shadow damage every 1 sec. Additionally, 50% of all Physical damage the player suffers while the curse is in effect is additionally shared to all other players.
From the Abyss - Beckon forth three Abyss Stalkers from the depths.
- Abyss Stalker - Abyss Stalkers' melee attacks inflict shadow damage to their target instead of physical damage.
  - Dark Depths - Step through the shadows, striking a random player with Jaws from the Deep.
    - Jaws from the Deep - Bites a player, inflicting 180,000 Shadow damage immediately with an additional 152,000 Shadow damage every 1 sec for 4 sec.
  - Concealing Murk - Upon death, Abyss Stalkers release a cloud of Concealing Murk for 20 sec. Players within the cloud suffer 167,000 Shadow damage every 2 sec and have their hit chance reduced by 75%.
Stage One: Ten Thousand Fangs - Thousands of creatures rise from the depths of the ocean to assist their mistress.
- Slicing Tornado - Slicing tornados sweep across the platform, inflicting 206,000 Physical damage every 1 sec for 20 sec.
  A Slicing Tornado coming into contact with Concealing Murk reduces its efficacy.
- Thundering Shock - Jellyfish rise up from the waters, charging up to inflict 1,110,000 Nature damage and stun players within 8 yds for 4 sec.
  Striking a murloc with Thundering Shock knocks it off a player and makes it vulnerable to attack.
- Consuming Hunger - Beckons forth several Razorjaw Waverunners, which attach themselves to players, inflicting 223,000 Physical damage every 2 sec.
  Being struck with Thundering Shock knocks the murloc off of the target, making it vulnerable to attack.
  - Razorjaw Waverunner -
    - Water Blast - Murlocs shoot water at players at low range, inflicting 375,375 Frost damage.
    - Murloc Mash - Each dismounted murloc increases the damage done and cast speed of all other dismounted murlocs within 15 yds by 100%.
Stage Two: Terrors of the Deep - Deep sea leviathans approach and answer the call of their master.
- Beckon Sarukel - Mistress Sassz'ine calls forth Sarukel, the Unending Hunger to swallow everything whole.
  - Devouring Maw - Sarukel opens his maw, sucking in all players and inflicting 260,000 Frost damage every 2 sec. If a player comes within 15 yds of Sarukel, they are devoured whole. Upon inhaling 5 Befouling Ink clouds, Sarukel becomes disgusted and flees.
- Summon Ossunet - Mistress Sassz'ine calls forth Ossunet, the Darkness to obstruct her foes.
  - Befouling Ink - Ossunet sprays ink clouds about, sticking to players who enter them. Ink clouds inflict 322,000 Shadow damage every 1 sec, reducing movement speed by 50% and can be carried to Sarukel, The Unending Hunger to drive him away.
- Call Vellius - Mistress Sassz'ine calls forth Vellius, the Drowning Tide to smash her enemies.
  - Crashing Wave - Vellius crashes through the area, inflicting 2,084,940 Frost damage to all players he comes in contact with, knocking them back.
Stage Three: Vast Oceans of Wrath - Mistress Sassz'ine uses her full powers to wipe away her enemies.
- Summon Ossunet - Mistress Sassz'ine calls forth Ossunet, the Darkness to obstruct her foes.
  - Befouling Ink - Ossunet sprays ink clouds about, sticking to players who enter them. Ink clouds inflict 322,000 Shadow damage every 1 sec, reducing movement speed by 50% and can be carried to Sarukel, The Unending Hunger to drive him away.
