Battle.Net Launcher Update - Warcraft III
A recent update to the Battle.Net launcher added a background and icons for Warcraft III, just like the ones that currently exist for other games. No support for the game was added to the launcher yet, but keep in mind that at Blizzcon 2013 it was mentioned that people were working on a side project to update the old Warcraft games to run on modern versions of Windows.

If you already have the game, don't forget to attach your CD key to your Battle.Net account.

Warlords of Draenor - Upcoming Beta Build
Another beta build is on the way! Check back later for notes.

Warlords of Draenor - Bonus Rolls
Today we are taking a look at some of the ways to earn bonus rolls in Warlords of Draenor.

With Patch 6.0.2 only a couple weeks away, don't forget to start collecting some Lesser Charms for item upgrades or uncapped turn ins for Siege of Orgrimmar bonus rolls if you still need them. You can find other Patch 6.0 reminders in our previous post.

We looked at the first way recently with the Bunker / War Mill perk that grants you a free bonus roll every week, but there are a few other ways to earn rolls.

The second method of earning bonus rolls is the two rare garrison missions that reward them. Keep in mind these are Rare missions, so you won't see them constantly. Rukhmar and Drov the Ruiner both reward one Seal of Tempered Fate.

The third method to earn bonus rolls are turn in quests. The second and third time you use a certain method in a week it will cost double of what it did the last time.

  • Apexis Crystal (1000 / 2000 / 4000) - Players can earn at 1000 per day through a type of daily quest in your garrison, another 1000 from an Ashran daily quest, along with some from work orders and other sources. These are also used to purchase armor that is upgradeable to item level 655, which is the same as Normal level raid loot.

  • Gold (500 / 1000 / 2000) - Keep in mind that gold is somewhat easier to earn in Warlords of Draenor, as it is taking the role of Valor.

  • Garrison Resources (300 / 600 / 1200) - There are many sources of Garrison Resources. Your garrison gives you some every day, missions can reward some, the Lumber Mill can provide some, and there are many other sources. After your buildings are built and upgraded, you may have spare Garrison Resources that can be used for these quests or converted into Trade Goods.

  • Honor Points (500 / 1000 / 2000) - Along with all of the old sources of Honor, Ashran and other PvP activities provide several new opportunities to earn Honor.

Treasure Room Achievement Becoming a Feat of Strength
You can find this change, along with others in our Patch 6.0 Reminders post.

can I ask why its being removed? I loved going through there on different toons! Just depressing seeing more things removed
the gold generation is really high once you can one-shot all the creatures inside
There's hardly crazy amounts of gold to be had there, though. Especially if gold is the "new Valor points" in Warlords
over 500 gold reliably once a week for minimal effort is significant
But it's been that way for nearly two years - why does it matter now?
at 100 the NPCs that do all the trappings are very easily killed, negating a lot of the challenge, esp in the last room (Source)
notice could have been better though. i stopped farming keys on notion they weren’t going anywhere.
there is no reward exclusive to the treasure room unlike CMs or PVP seasons. (Source)
Will the achievement be removed from the Isle of Thunder Meta?
yep, the treasure room achievements will go legacy & removed from meta. (Source)
Where will we get Elder Charms from then? The treasure run is the only source.
we'll add a conversion elsewhere.
Will the IoT vendors still sell items that help you in the treasure run?
yes, only the key drops are being removed. if you have find a key on an alt in 6 months you can still do the treasure room. (Source)
However could we possibly as a suggestion see another version in a future patch maybe?
we would really love to do another one (Source)

Mult. We buffed it a bit recently, to 3%/stack. (Celestalon)

WoD World bosses, spawn time = current mop or mop launch? Rukhmar drops mount, would hate Mop-launch Galleon times
More like Sha of Anger. No plans on doing the Galleon/Oondasta-style respawn in the near future. (WatcherDev)

CM Titles permanent in WoD? Seems best Gold time is a feat whether the first, or 3 tiers later. Or, 1 for current, 1 permanent?
No permanent title for best time in Warlords; if you want to keep the title, defend it. (WatcherDev)

Are 30-player normal/heroic raids still planned for WoD?
Siege of Orgrimmar and all Warlords raids support raid sizes up to 30 on Normal/Heroic in 6.0, yes. (WatcherDev)

100% looms in 6.0 is it per toon or player? If i have normal bow now if i do mythic in 6.0 will it be 100%?
Per character, per difficulty, so yes. (WatcherDev)

Can we get some spec balance with queueing 3v3 skirmishes? Im tired of getting my dps getting paired with 2 more, into a healer/dps
Just a matter of who's queuing (I.e. not enough healers). Alternative is DPS always have to wait. Prefer skirmishes be very fast. (holinka)

Curious, how viable would it be to gear for PvP entirely through Ashran?
For honor, probably comparable time to bgs. For conquest, possible but slow when compared to arenas/RBGs. (holinka)

Did you look into this? Any update?
I believe a 15-19 bracket is setup on beta/PTR. (holinka)

You know, those healer and tank dummies that are in Shattarah on beta would be very nice in the garrison.
I thought the sparring arena had a healer/tank one, that incorrect? (Muffinus)

Hi, i would like to know if you have the profession from the garrison building, you can have more than 1 daily cooldown.
The building has its own c/d, and you have your personal one, so you get both! (Muffinus)

Since lvl 1 Dwarven Bunker doubles chance of quest rewards to rare / epic. Does it also affect followers gained from quests?
It does not, they're not really considered an item, we'll take a look at adding this at some point (Muffinus)

Meaning say without Barracks you can have a max 7 missions to do, and scouting would make it 8 total at one point. Or stay 7?
Looks like they are indeed in their own pools (Muffinus)

Qualified players should note the following in order to ensure you receive your just rewards:

  • Please refrain from transferring your characters to another realm or faction until after PvP Season 15 has ended.
  • PvP Season 15 titles and mounts will be awarded approximately two weeks after the season ends.

Conquest Points will be converted to Honor Points at the end of the season, and any Honor above 4,000 will be converted to in-game currency at a rate of 35 silver per point. A few other things to keep in mind once the season has ended:

  • The Honor cap will remain at 4,000.
  • Season 15 items with rating requirements will no longer be available for purchase.
  • Rated Battleground and Arena matches will not be available during the break between seasons.

Warlords of Draenor - Post-Squish Legacy Content

Right now, there is a known bug (for which we should have a fix in an upcoming build) that is causing raid bosses (especially in Cataclysm content) to be more challenging for level 90 players than is the intent. There are also specific issues with encounters that we're still hand-adjusting (Gunship in Icecrown, notably). That will get sorted out. The overwhelming majority of players shouldn't see any negative impact to their legacy content experience when they go from 5.4 to 6.0.

The sole exception here, which is what I was clarifying, is that if there's an encounter that you can just barely solo as a tank spec on live today, it's quite possible that you won't quite be able to do so in 6.0. It's also possible that something you can solo comfortably today might be slightly harder in 6.0, but still doable. But that's because of basic changes to self-healing and the potency of tank cooldowns, and not anything related to our item or stat changes. And in any case, I'm talking about smaller differences here, not something like getting destroyed by Morchok when you can solo him easily on live, which is the result of a bug.

Either way, I'm not aware of any plans to change them. (holinka)

If I build an enchanting building and a jewelcrafting building is there still a point for me to still have those professions?
Having the profession yourself doubles (I think) the daily cooldown production, and gives access to some extra recipes. (Muffinus)

Brawler’s Guild: Season Two
With Patch 6.0.2 only a couple of weeks away, now is the time to finish up the Brawler's Guild! Our friends at Icy Veins have a handy guide to help.

A few changes aren't mentioned in the post, such as the new potions being added or the removal of Brawler's Bladed Claws.

The current season of Brawler’s Guild is coming to a close once Patch 6.0.2 goes live, but you’ll be back in action before you know it. Here’s what you can look forward to as we get ready to launch Warlords of Draenor.

First, all members of the Brawler’s Guild will keep their membership after the patch goes live, so don’t worry about having to rejoin. For those who still seek to join the Brawler’s Guild, you’ll have some opportunities to find a Blood-Soaked Invitation once you arrive on Draenor.

There are quite a few changes, so let’s break ’em down:

  • All Brawler’s Guild achievements earned prior to Patch 6.0.2—Season One—will become legacy achievements. New achievements for Season Two will take their place.
  • Rewards earned based on progression will remain available for purchase. The ring reward will be updated in Patch 6.0.2 so that it will have valuable stats for all specializations.
  • The next patch will introduce boss encounters that will be adjusted for level 100 members.
  • Progression has been reverted back to 8 tiers.
  • Bosses that are being removed from previous tiers will be added to the challenge card vendor and become available as you progress.
  • All tiers have had their boss line-ups remixed—for example, Bruce is now a rank 5 boss instead of rank 1.

While we won’t be adding new bosses or challenge cards, you will be able to take Meatball back to your Garrison as a new follower—that is, once you’ve defeated him. As for the future, who knows what developments Bizmo and Boss Bazzelflange might have planned? For now, get in there, rough up a few bad guys, and get ready for Brawler’s Guild to come back with a vengeance!

Warlords of Draenor - Garrisons: Dwarven Bunker / War Mill
Today we are taking a look at the Dwarven Bunker / War Mill garrison building. The third tier of this build is unlocked by having 20 Level 100 followers.

This building takes up a Large plot which can also be used for the Stables, Mage Tower / Spirit Lodge, Gnomish Gearworks / Goblin Workshop, or Barracks. Once upgraded to Tier 3, your garrison will have two Large plots available.

This building is good for getting better quest rewards when leveling, gearing up followers to do raid missions, buying transmog gear, and earning one of your three bonus rolls with no effort every week. For example, this quest reward (Wisdom of Dionar) can randomly be upgraded to (Wisdom of Dionar)

  • Level 1 - Doubles the chance for your quest rewards to get a rare or epic Bonus Upgrade, and increases the potency of the upgrade. Allows the collection of armor scraps from the orc clans of Draenor for armor transmogrification use.
  • Level 2 - Opens up work orders for follower weapons and armor in exchange for garrison resources. Also, new armor transmogrification items unlock.
  • Level 3 - Grants 1 of your 3 seals of tempered fate (raid bonus loot roll) at no cost each week.

Work Orders
The Dwarven Bunker / War Mill allows you to exchange Garrison Resources for follower armor/weapon upgrades and Iron Horde Scraps and Apexis Crystals. Currently 20 Garrison Resources is converted into roughly a few Iron Horde Scraps and a few Apexis Crystals, along with the occasional armor or weapon upgrade for your followers.

They are pictured here with a tabard that is a reward of a one time quest to collect 5 Iron Horde Scraps.

Soloing Old Content

Just to confirm, this is a bug - we're working on a fix. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Post-Squish Legacy Content
We're going through and making adjustments based on this thread, other feedback, and our own internal testing. Some of the issues were pure oversights; others reflect a loophole when it comes to self-inflicted or friendly-fire damage, for which we're working on a comprehensive fix.

I do want to clarify, however, that our changes are only intended to offset the direct effects of the "squish" and our goal has been to make sure that linearizing the item curve between item levels ~60 and 463 doesn't impact the ability to solo legacy content. That is not the same as saying that we guarantee nothing will change, period - we've made a number of adjustments to tank mitigation, healing, defensive cooldowns, and so forth. That's nothing new for an expansion, and in some cases, yes, that will make old content more challenging than it was in 5.4.8, especially for tank specs that could previously use Vengeance to great effect. But that has nothing to do with the item squish.

There is no specific intent or plan for when and whether anything becomes soloable. That's up to you.

We design the content to be appropriately difficult for the original audience at the appropriate level (whether that's a few players in the outdoor world, a dungeon group with a dedicated tank and healer, a full raid group, etc.). Over time, as player power grows through access to higher levels, more powerful gear, new talents, and so forth, content that used to require a group becomes soloable, organically. Some classes (tanks, those with better self-healing, those with pets) will be able to do it sooner than others, but everyone will get there eventually. It might take an extra tier, or even an extra expansion, but that's just the nature of how the power curve works. And if you can't solo something but are interested in a shot at a transmog item, achievement, or rare mount, you can always bring a friend or two.

We don't nerf old content specifically to make it soloable - we occasionally make quality-of-life changes when a mechanic (like Thorim's cleanup that reset the fight if the arena was unoccupied) is artificially preventing players who have the raw power to solo an encounter from doing so. But we don't go back and specifically make old content numerically easier. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

ETA on tuning down hybrid and dps healing? Ret, feral, enhance, ele, boomy etc.. All can spam to 100% in seconds. Hard to test atm.
.It's something we're looking at. Best way to help is to run meters in arenas and highlight specific spells that stand out. (holinka)

Frost DK 4p bonus - "15% damage per soul" - 15% what damage per soul? Weapon damage?
15% Weapon Damage, yes. (Celestalon)

Character / Items
+1 and u want to be excited every holiday!
These items use new auto-level-update tech, can probably provide more info than I can (Muffinus)
In 6.0 we can balance power items from holidays to be appropriate without a patch. Wish granted! (olandgren)

Setting up realms that will meet in Ashran. It's like playing the dating game for WoW servers. (holinka)
would love a post on how you pick and decide! Would be very fun to read and learn.
Primary goal is: both sides of Ashran feel equally full. Doesn't mean both servers need same population. (holinka)

There should be rewards before 2000, especially the 2000 mark aswell to increase participation.
We have rewards for participation below 2000. Conquest gear and the Vicious mounts. They've proven very effective (holinka)
Rating inflation works fine, and I'm sure it's not changing, just rewards requirements being raised, right?
Correct (holinka)
Btw, I noticed there were 2 new PvP "illusion" enchants, primal victory + glorius tyranny, whats the difference?
Just typo fixes. Glorious Tyranny is last expac. Primal Victory is this expac. (holinka)

I heard the Tarren Mill vs Southshore match has been reduced to 40 vs 40. Can you pls confirm?
.It's true. Our battlegrounds are not setup to support more than 40 per side. My ambition got the best of me on that 100v100 tweet. (holinka)

Warlords of Draenor Lore
You say Thrall had "too big a presence in Cata" but you don't think that it was orc centric? It was about thrall saving us
It was about all of the mortal races and the dragonflights coming together to stop Deathwing. Thrall was one piece. (_DonAdams)

Except his part in Nagrand. Liked the cutscene, but I can't agree with WHO it was. Thrall is big enough
At this point it's obvious Thrall made a mistake with Garrosh. I think his role in WoD is fair. (_DonAdams)

Everything from the zones, bosses, and even the cinematics is all ORCS. You even had Thrall kill Garrosh. It was awesome cinema
That's like saying MoP was only pandaren. Overall theme? Sure. But actual content is varied: many creatures and monsters. (_DonAdams)
They're a big focus. My point was mostly that previous expacs weren't "orc expansions." Even still, WoD is not only orcs. (_DonAdams)

That's just a pretty simple rule. If we're the heroes, we should get the glory.
You're constantly referred to as heroes, saviors of Azeroth. Big NPCs don't diminish that - they enforce it (_DonAdams)
Granted, I think we hold back the killing blow too often. We should let players kill the bosses more. (_DonAdams)
Tirion is mostly in the background, so his interference is fine. Thrall is always the center of the story.
In Cata he was probably too involved. We acknowledge that. In WoD it's a special case: poetic justice. (_DonAdams)
Not to mention his obvious connection with the Frostwolf clan. (_DonAdams)
Sure, it'd be weird if Thrall was uninvolved. But you can see why him saving us from Garrosh would be taken ill.
Yeah, I definitely understand the concern. (_DonAdams)
Thrall really feels he came full circle with the (spoiler cinematic)After WoD it could be a good send off for him
I think it was necessary for his arc to be satisfying. Who knows what he'll do next. He does have a family. (_DonAdams)
if you want people to like him again, he needs to lose badly. Superman is only interesting when vulnerable.
I don't know that Alliance players will ever really like him. As a War3 and Horde player, I always have. (_DonAdams)
Thing I like about Thrall is that he's the soul of the horde. On the outside, they look like monsters. (_DonAdams)
But Thrall's horde was about honor and family. They are noble ideals. Thrall + Cairne are the best. (_DonAdams)
It makes him more human (alltho he's an orc) We shall see through the patches;D
He's sort of a bridge between humanity and orc(manity?) due to his upbringing. I liked him as that role. (_DonAdams)

Yeah. Thrall's a visionary. He wants to change things, not insist he's always right. Should've owned up.
Thing is, we tried to go more neutral with him as the World Shaman in Cata, and people hated him. (_DonAdams)

Part of it; also that humans/orcs always pushed. See: Ashran capitols, garrisons.
In a way, Thrall's place in the current environment is as difficult for us as it is for him. (_DonAdams)
This could put him in a more passive advisory role that wouldn't threaten player spotlight and it'd let him evolve as a character
I'd like to see him focus on his family and advising Vol'jin in rebuilding the Horde. But it's not my call! (_DonAdams)

You can't claim someone as being central antagonist when they appear for a second. Thrall was everywhere in Cata, Garrosh in MoP.
Antagonist is the one who creates the conflict, i.e. Deathwing and the Twilight's Hammer trying to blow up the world. (_DonAdams)

I mean, please explain why in Cata Thrall took central focus when it should have been Malfurion? You know, nature guy?
While heroes of the mortal races (the players) defeat most of the enemies. Everyone plays a part. (_DonAdams)
The elements are a shaman's domain. Thrall becomes the most powerful shaman on Azeroth in order to hold it together. (_DonAdams)
It just seems like a bad decision to not work in the Malfurion/Emerald Dream storyline when players have wanted it for so long.
He was in Hyjal and Molten Front, but I'd like to see him (and the other night elves) more often considering their power. (_DonAdams)
That's mine and some others concern. We fear good heroes (Malfurion, Tyrande, Genn) are being forgotten while Thrall takes stage.
I think in WoD we kept it light on big names because we want the player character as the main hero, (_DonAdams)
Khadgar is there (Tirion-esque) and Thrall is there to learn about his heritage. Primarily, the players are the big guns here. (_DonAdams)

when they know he's alive. I hope we see his shadowhunters more and Rokhan
Rokhan and the shadow hunters are in the Horde garrison and serve as scouts all over Draenor. (_DonAdams)

Yrel is looking very promising, indeed. Y'all should feel proud about her.
A lot of people worked very hard on Yrel. It's tough to build a brand new character in 1 expac of leveling. (_DonAdams)

Uhm.. The Garrosh intro: He was building up to be a big baddy, not 'Rushing to explore'.
Can't it be both? Ally find island, both factions send expeditions (find Anduin, explore, gain land). It escalates in 5.1. (_DonAdams)
It can't really, when Garrosh made his intentions fairly clear from the start. He was looking for conquests, not adventures.
Sort of careening wildly off point here, which is that both factions drove the story to Pandaria. (_DonAdams)
They didn't though.. Anduin just *happened* to end up there.
He shipwrecked there, which is how anyone found the island, and is why Varian sent troops. (_DonAdams)

That reminds me--Brewfest is tomorrow. Too bad some of the cool holiday updates are just on the PTR/beta.
Things to look forward to during the entire life of the expac is what world events should be all about (Muffinus)
I think it's just that we had a relative drought of updates in MoP and all the datamined things are so cool!
Yea, I would love to see the world events get new toys or pets or at least something new every year if possible! #WoW
We would very much like this as well. (Muffinus)

Will there be achievements for the rares in Pandaria similar to "A Worthy Opponent" & its meta "Glorious"? None in beta so far..
Not this round, rares serving a bit of a diff. purpose, felt like there was plenty of long-term cheevos in WoD (Muffinus)
I wondered since they are "leveling rares" this time out. So all rewards, etc pertinent to current rares finished in beta?
Should be, let us know if you find anything amiss! (Muffinus)

Why is Gamon in the Alliance Garrison & a Dwarf in the Horde Garrison. This doesn't make sense !!. @Muffinus
The inn is a place for all weary travellers to spend the night, so long as they're nice about it. (Muffinus)

Can followers have their rarity upgraded? I know I'd rather use Admiral Taylor rather than some schlub who is rare instead
Yes! Once they hit level 100, their XP goes towards increasing their rarity. (Muffinus)
