Blizzard's nextgen MMO Titan - ...Halo connection??

    3 strange coincidences and counting.

Could just be a smoke-screen, I guess, but if so they paid a fair amount of money to make it happen.

Well Bungie is working for Activision now.

I said it might be a Halo MMO months ago haha. If Bungie and Blizzard worked together for a Halo MMO, I would definitely be interested in it. Halo was one of my favorite Universes since Halo 1. Played all the games except the RTS one, and read all the books.

We have nothing to advertise for the new MMO because it's a shell of a game thus far. We've already stated it'll be a brand new franchise, which means the lore, art, and game play are being developed entirely from scratch. It's an overwhelming process, but a process through which we excel. Our track record supports this.
    --Blizzard Post

It's not halo. A lot of the halo people may have been brought over because blizzard liked their work and perhaps the new MMO will be a sci fi fps. It will be a completely new IP with an entirely new world, plot, and characters as has been confirmed by blizzard many times.

New lore does not mean new IP. SW:TOR is entirely new lore, art, and gameplay, yet it is still Star Wars. They can simply do what Bioware is doing is base the Halo Universe thousands of years before the games, which has not been explored yet.

    Thats quite odd.
Not saying its impossible, just unlikely.
    "Do you have a boyfriend?"
    "No."
    "Do you want one?"
    "Uhh.. No?"
"Cause you see, I like to have a girlfriend from each state."
    "Do you know their names?"
"Oh I call them by numbers, 25 is the best, shes got it going on."

This interests me. Knowing it's a possibility makes me happy. A Halo MMO would be kind of cool.

No it does not, but blizz actually said it WILL be a new IP so you can actually forget Halo being the new mmo, not from blizzards side at least.

Blizzard has said it is an entirely new IP so there is no way it will be a Halo related game, sorry guys.

No. The Blizzard post says "New Franchise" which DOES mean new IP. Also, Microsoft owns the Halo name. Bungie could still do a game with the Halo Marines in theory, but it couldn't have the Halo name attached to it.

Also, I really don't think Blizzard would want to tie itself into a story that it didn't have complete control over (i.e. not have the ability to retcon). So.. the closest to a "Halo MMO" Titan could be would be something very similar but slightly different.. like what Blizz did with Warcraft (Warhammer) and Starcraft (Warhammer 40k).

I hope not. I really really hope not. My hate for halo knows no bounds.

I like fantasy. I like swords and magic. I honestly hope not everything will be taken over by fps', but they make so much money its stupid. Stuff like COD makes me die inside.

Quite possibly the biggest bunch of noobs ever allowed to make a podcast.

Commercialism of gaming once again steps up with wannabes trying to make some $$ off of gamers.

Do they not have enough friends or people who listen to them that they have to make a podcast ?

It's like verbal masturbation from mentally handicapped people.

    Agree with you there.

Bungie or Blizzard wouldn't be working with a Halo MMO. They've said already that Halo: Reach was their last one in the series, and handed it off to Microsoft and 343 Studios, who are currently working on the next Halo title.

And basing the game thousands of years before CE wouldn't do anything. The series takes place around 2552, if you went back thousands of years you'd be in the stone age, and I don't think that would make a good MMO.

Me too, I just can never get in to CoD or anything, but I Halo I liked.

I'm thinking the naysayers have it on a preponderance of evidence against.

I'm guessing the name "Titan" is just a coincidence or tongue-in-cheek smokescreen. From the quotes above I gather it'll be a completely new imaginary universe/virtual world that hasn't been in any games before.

WoW became Sci-Fi the moment aliens started crash landing on space ships, so sorry =(

    seriously doubt it

    why ?

because ive seen a filmed interview with Metzen where he states most of his time at Blizzard atm is being taken up creating the whole new universe for the new MMO.

that wouldn't be the case if it was Halo (in fact its doubtful whether Metzen would even be involved in that aspect as Halo "lore" is pretty well established and has its own svengalis)

besides i dunno if Bungie can even legally make another Halo game as the rights remain with Microsoft. from what ive read lots of people are expecting something related to Marathon from Bungie.

Since many people have stated the reasons I would have given as to why it won't be a Halo MMO, I'll just say this...

Halo is balls. Do not want!

Halo has better lore and a lot more potential than any Blizzard game.. Starcraft and Warcraft are both poorly written Warhammer clones. While Halo lore isn't shown best in the games, it is fairly original and has a lot of backstory to it.

    Halo, possibly.
    Doubtful, though.

It is probably an original IP, unless they actually bought the Halo Franchise, which I wouldn't be surprised if they could.
There was nearly a connection between Game 2.0 being developed by Robot Entertainment but sadly it was announced that it was an original IP for Robot, so chances are, no. :/

Either Blizz + Robot working together towards original IP but no Halo.
Or Blizz working with themselves buying Halo from 343 Industries and Microsoft, :/

Or just an Original IP by themselves anyway.
    I would like that
