    Netherlands!

okay I haven't seen this statement but I'm very proud of our military from back in World War 2!
our bycicle army, like for real.. we had an army on bikes.. don't laugh, we hold germany up for a loong looooong time if you consider, and I will say this again... we had an army on bikes!
and the average, amsterdam rulez... de roze buurt!!(hookers in amsterdam) you can buy weed on every corner in everystreet, which you can do in a lot of city's.. but here it's done in shops.. and legal! bet you can't say that about your country!
uhm.. we're the nr 1 at most fighting sports!!
the ice skating races are being ruled by the netherlands!!
uhm, we have a soccer team that has the best players in the world, yet never wins a cup (I'm proud of our silver medallion)
we pwn at darts! yet I'm not sure I should be proud at this or not :P
that our royal family is based on foreign ppl (started with a german family and to be a native dutch guy you have to have both parents being born in the netherlands, which no one in the royal family can say)
that one of the smallest country's in the world ruled the oceans back with the WIC + VOC.. although I shouldn't be proud on what the WIC was doing (slavery)

    Love the landscape
Love being able to speak my mind.

    Hate our politics
Hate that even in the land of the Free I can't defend my country, because I'm attracted to other men.

So I have a love/hate relationship with my country.

Our (swedish) prisons are a joke, people actually comes to Sweden to commit crime, just so they can get into our prisons and actually get a nice education. Which they wouldn't have gotten in their own country. What the hell ><

    Hm...

We don't need to be smart or poor to get our university payed by the government.
We don't need to know our language, we can write like a retarded and no one will judge us, not even our teachers.
We have Big Brother Brasil TV show since 1999.
If you don't have a job, you can bribe people to not scratch their cars anytime, cause people and police don't care.

    It's a nice country!

    4. I'm very proud of our military history and the sole fact that we never lost a single battle flag throughout all of our military campaigns.
    5. All the great, hearty people i meet all the time!

I am not posting any flag because I fear to be called Nazi and stuff like that. Germany actually ain't that bad. You can live a good life here. The social framework is at least trying.. We have no death penalty and so forth.. I don't post a flag, because we all are marionettes. We are marionettes of enterprises trying to regulate their income. We are marionettes of power and money. Let it be the pharmaceutical industry, the arms indsutry, the automobile industry, the food industry, the textile industry, the energy providing industry, the technical applications industry. We actually have the power to control the market's supply by telling what we demand.

How can we possibly be proud of simply accepting this degree of exploitation and pollution in order to get what we demand? The question here is: Do we demand right? Most enterprises are corrupted. They've failed their task. They are lost. It depends on us, on the consumer, to do something for the people in this world, for this environment. For us. We don't buy blood diamnds, they don't sell blood diamonds (metaphor).

Pride... There may be things you like about your nationality. That you consider cool. But being proud of anything? Of what...? You can be proud of your child when it achieves something great in sports, school or wherever.. But being proud of being allowed to smoke weed, wear kilts, having a declaration of independence or a really tasty cheese is just not fair compared to the meaning of the word pride. History and even present time prove that we all have blood on our hands. Doing nothing does not cleanse this fact.
If you read most of the posts, most people are moreso "proud" of the culture behind their region (which is legitimate due to the diversity of society and cultures from one part of the world to another). Most of us still express distaste for our governments or business practices. In fact, I don't think ANYONE has praised their country's government at all (with the exception of universal health care).

I'm a citizen of earth, but I am proud of the culture in my province, and the diversity in my country. Germany had some dark times, but behind the atrocities committed by the Nazi party back in the 30's and 40's, Germany was a catalyst for a huge amount of change in society, and moved to grow out of it and become one of the most respected nations despite being absolutely decimated and broken after the war. Japan is another example of this from WW2. Power to change the world is something a lot of nations never had, even if it was a bad power.

Have lived in Germany, n also for all u QQ here who don't get the point of the Thread, here's to u,

The food, but don't get what's so special about bratwurst, it's ok. BEER!
    BEER!
East Germany made some chocolate bar during the cold war, wrapped in green paper, that I munched on when I was a kid, forgot name of the brand n don't know if it still exists. I'm assuming there weren't many brands during that time.
    October Fest, BEER!
    is Nutella a German brand?
    Christ-stollen (christmas cake, yummy) BEER!
The cars, no need to elaborate.
I like that they are crafty, create all kinds of cool stuff n gadgets (n BEER!), they are kinda like the Japanese of Europe n I know that's cliche description...
They had people like Martin Luther, Albert Einstein, thinkers n reformers (Freud), progress in the fields of science n BEER!

Btw JayJay09, the way u carry on, at least you should say, according to how u feel, that u liked Karl Marx? Ah these "I don't like my country" peeps are sooo naive...

    Here goes nothing..

Alright, i guess i'm the next one up.
I am swedish and i'm damn proud of it.

What i like - The food. we have so much to choose from, we don't really limit ourselves.

    - The language. granted, it may actually be a bad language, but i've learned to love it, and how it sounds. Can't be described really.

    - Nature. Seriously, you can not come to sweden and not admire our forests or waters.

    - Damn good place to live in. Enough said.

    - History. Vikings man, Vikings!

What i do not like though is..Our prisons (as someone mentioned before.), our punishments for breaking the law, the school system (our current one suck, imo.) and our goverment.

    ~ proud swedish guy.

Haha, then you got a nice GM. Once had a guildy who's ZG snake "TrouserSnake" was renamed (by the GM) to Bob. Since this was way back in Vanilla, we all laughed at him and his snake that got "Bobbed".

I love my country for several reasons:
    1. The Turks endured a lot in the past.
    2. We are now the last lands and remains of a once powerful imperium.
    3. We are being hated by the West (Christians) and The East (radical muslims), in a more figurative way.
    4. We and the British share the same amount of passion for soccer.
    5. Fact: Turks who live in Turkey are much friendlier and sympathic than the Turks in Europe. (Altho I live in Europe)
    7. Turkey is the N*1 State which is quick to help in Nature Disasters, especially in third world countries.
    8. We can actually play and buy WoW compared with other muslim populated countries.
    9. We let the US and EU do the space researches, Turkey focusses on medical treatment.
    10. We got a nice kitchen.
    11. We have a lot of untouched greek and roman architecture.
    12. The Turks were never really defeated, even though we lost the ottoman empire, the spirit of the ottoman lives in our turkish minds.
    13. There's no six eh?

    1. We invented Fench Fries!
    2. We have a fucking complicated poltical system.
    3. We still have no government and still are going through life as any other.
    4. Chocolate.
    5. A statue that can pee, and apparently we're supposed to be proud of it.
    6. We got something with beer.

Any other belgian is welcome to complete.

    /Belgium represent.

Even in a time of recession, unending economical transition (from socialism to capitalism... yeah, we are so "advanced" we go backwards), religious and ethnic tension, constant media turmoil and unemployment rate of over 35 % in a state of 2 million people, I still love my country.

    1. Ancient history so vast and rich the world is yet to uncover - thousands of years old artifacts and entire cities from 2000 years BC, fortresses, sculptures, remains of old Empires and Kingdoms... heroes and heroines of times of great conquests and defenders of the people. The history of Macedonia is filled with both blood and the taste of victory.
    2. Traditions centuries old - Monasteries, Mosques, Festivals and Carnivals... untouched by time, revered by the people. It is as if time stopped around them.
    3. The national dishes are awesome - (everything ranging from fishes from the lakes or rivers, or fruits or vegetables from the fertile soil... all is used to prepare one of the finest and most distinct cuisine in Europe).
    4. It is small but still one of the most beautiful and scenic countries in the world (lakes, forests, mountains - you name it) - just google it
    5. The people - although somewhat unsophisticated, greedy and with a tendency to look up to terrible politicians, Macedonians are known for being hospitable and damn good hosts who know how to throw a party that will be remembered for a lifetime
    6. The beer, the wine and the women
    7. Endurance - Macedonian soil has been stomped over and over again over the centuries by enemy soldiers boots... the people have lived through ages of despair, slavery and occupation. However, Macedonians have never backed down and faltered in their spirit, never gave up and had always fought for their freedom and independence.
    8. The Spirit - no matter how apart we are, how divided we stand, our country unites our nation and as long as we all draw breath, our country shall prevail!
