Most younger kids I've played with have always been really good players. A couple have been very very annoying with some form of adhd. You forget the good ones and remember the annoying ones.

In my experience, the older you get, the less selfish you play. I understand this does not apply to all players, but it really is my experience.

When you grow up, you usually learn to be precise, keep your appointments, take responsibility and you become a lot more reliable. All the boring stuff that actually makes things work.

I've met 1 mature 13 year old in WoW and like a billion crying nutbags, I think that's answer enough. It's like saying why doesn't ppl want Lions in their bedroom just cuz some idiot managed to tame one.

    How about these lines:

"Brb, I have to put my son in bed"

I have heard these so many times too.

I remember playing Diablo II as a 12 year old and considered myself mature. I've played WoW since the year I turned myself 16 and I considered myself mature. Whenever I dig up a screenshot from the depths of my computer and realize how much of a fucknut I actually was back then, I feel like going six feet under. I cannot understand how my vanilla guild put up with me, kudos to them I guess.

The point I'm circling in on, is that there is no such thing as a mature teenager. You can escape the generalisation of being the average immature child, but some things have to come with age. Hell, I'm only 21 and I am a complete child at times, but the big difference is being able to mask the bad tendencies and step up when people rely on you to do your best.

I don't agree to the topic of this thread.

I do not have a problem with 12-14 year olds at all. Whenever I find players that are obnoxious kids they are mostly 16-20. I assume these are the same age group that "have something against" 12-14 year olds?

If I found a 12 year old raider capable to meet my guilds requirements, I'd recruit him straight away. He'd become the guilds favourite member overnight, I am sure.
But then, we aren't 16-20 year old obnoxious kids.

this incident is one of many examples why 12-year olds get a bad rep in wow.

This is Terrible. All those Kicked people also lost their guild rep and have to start over after the reinvite.

Well my little brothers 14.. I say "hey want to heal?" and I get "Can't I'm getting pets" >_>

many it's just a way to insult someone. No one wants to be referred to as a 12 year old, and I'd imagine it's twice as insulting and awkward being 12 yourself :P

My big dislike doesn't come from kids in WoW though.. it's mostly kids who play shooters. Me and my older brothers find it hilarious that parents let their kids play CoD.

Well, if you have a child to care for, you can not go and raid. Simple solution.

and i to be honest think this is unfair. I know a large proportion of 12-14 year olds are annoying imature idiots but people need to stop genralising. I also find people are less willing to be in a group/raid with some one who is twelve/thirteen. What are your thoughts on this?
    A) Your parents cannot read the back of a game.
    B) In most cases, they have the attention span of a goldfish and the memory of one.
    C) Make the majority of the jokes in vent a nono.

Oh yeah...everytime you make a dirty joke is goes "Hey, there are kids around..."

So what? I bet they hear by far dirtier stuff in school.

Believe it or not, some 18+ year olds have little in common with a 12 year old and has a legitimate reason not to want to socialise with them. If you're in a guild to hang out with people who's company you like, for some people that doesn't involve having children around. I certainly wouldn't ever hang out with a 12 year old in real life. Nobody said it's anything against them.

It's just not fun, or enjoyable. And if you deny that the proportion of people who would be classed as "immature" by the average person is greater amongst 12-14 year olds than at least 20+ people, and by quite a large margin then you are simply denying the obvious.

Obviously if it's just a raiding guild, then it's performance and conduct that matters most, but in social matters kids simply aren't compatible with adults 99% of the time. Deal with it.

No. At least not in the US. That's the recomended age. Not the required age. You're also allowed to play candy land as an adult, even if it says it's for kids. In some places for M rated games you need to have an adult buy it for you, but you're still allowed to play. It isn't the LAW that you can't play at any age.

On topic: because they tend to be very immature and childish. Because they have not yet matured and are still children. A lot think they're more mature than the rest. It's a common thing at that age. "I'm not like THOSE guys." Sometimes, but in my experience very rarely, this is true. And mostly it seems to be the people who don't mention or bring up their age that are that way. It comes as a surprise when you find out. It's because those players are focused on being polite good players, instead of what people think of their age group.

They also tend to be prone to temper tantrums, or being unable to control their own schedule (thus not being wanted in raids.) So even polite well adjusted teens can have a bad day and explode, and generally mess crap up.

I am not saying where the OP falls in that spectrum. Just stating my observations.
