Obviously not everyone loves it, because it did get removed. If someone did get injured, at this point, the city would be liable, regardless of who you would "blame". It's a pole, it's not historic. It's old scrap steel. If he felt that strongly about having a basketball hoop, then he should have gotten a mobile hoop, or installed one on his own property, rather than relying on the charity of the city. And when he found out what was happening, he had no right to waste the money of the taxpayers of the tiny state of delaware based on a fit of pique about a hoop that he's too physically infirm to even make use of. Just because something's old, doesn't mean it's important, it just means it's old.
