Rob Halford is my top one, easily. Love my Priest.
Hansi Kursch is quite up there also
Might some Simone Simons soothe you?

1. Rob Halford
2. Bruce Dickinson
3. Ozzy Osbourne
4. Ronnie James Dio
5. Axl Rose
6. Bon Scott
7. Sammy Hagar
8. Geoff Tate
9. James Hetfield

Maybe not all you would consider metal but these are my favorites.
Randy from Lamb of God and Jamie from Heart of a Coward
For me, Rob Halford and Eric Adams shares equal spot as first one. Dio comes very close to them.

1. Corey Tailor (Slipknot & Stone Sour)
2. Chester Bennington (Linkin Park)
3. Jonathan Davies (Korn)

Out of any standings, number one for all times Ronnie James Dio
Avril Lavigne!
Ozzy Osbourne
Dio
Randy Blythe (Lamb of God)
Jonathan Davies (Korn)
David Draiman (Disturbed)
Like all of these guys and Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden is also rather good.

This guy's voice is unbelievable.
Also, for some good laughs, George Fisher :->
Hansi Kursch is #1 for me.

cba to write more, but there are loads of awesome singers in metal.
The clue is in the title of the thread.
I know it's tough to keep up sometimes, but you can do it champ!
on topic: Devin Townsend (previously of Strapping Young Lad, has been doing various bits and pieces with various musicians for a while now) is a firm favourite of mine.

Even though I have the urge to disagree with what some of you call metal I must resist as this isn't what this thread is about.
My 2 favorites (as I cannot choose one or the other because they are much different) are:
James LaBrie (Dream Theater)
Tommy Rogers ( Between the Buried and Me)
I can think of other good vocalists, but these are my two favorites.
Chuck Schuldiner - Death
I read the first 2 pages of this thread and couldn't believe no one mentioned him yet.
Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)
Randy Blythe (Lamb of God)
PHIL ANSELMO!!! (Pantera)
Chuck Schuldiner (Death)
Cronos (Venom)
Lemmy Kilminster (Motorhead)
Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom)
Trevor Strnad (Black Dahlia Murder)
Anders Friden (In Flames)
Philip Labonte (All That Remains)
Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage)
Jesse Leech (First vocalist of Killswitch Engage)
Nik Napalm (Napalm Death. Yup.)
Mark Greenway (Still Napalm Death)
Corpsegrinder (Cannibal Corpse)
Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin (screw you, they're pre-metal))
Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy)
That's all I got off the top of my head...
One person mentioning Daniel Heiman of Lost Horizon, the hell? The genre is pretty much love or hate, but Daniel's voice is I N S A N E!
Nils K Rue of Pagan's Mind and Michael Eriksen of Circus Maximus are two vocalists I love as well.
Marco Sandron of Pathosray has a great and diverse voice.
Jari Mäenpää can not be forgotten, great harsh and clean vocals.
Tommy Karevik of Seventh Wonder
Michael Kiske might be a douchebag, but also an amazing vocalist.
Jan Thore Grefstad of ex-Highland Glory and Saint Deamon deserves so much more attention (and got some in Norways's got talent!), such a powerhouse!
Can't remember the name of the guy from Winterborn, but that guy is a powerhouse too.
Furthermore, I'm surprised people actually like Anders Fridén..well, I guess the noises of a strangled cat counts as a vocal style nowadays
