just finished watching chrome shelled regios...its a prty typical harem based anime minus the fan service i thought it was prty decent through and through and i was reasonably happy about the ending since i didnt know which chick i wanted him to hook up with because they were all very interesting characters...but i dont think the manga is still going so sadface at not being albe to answer some of the unanswered questions in the anime.

anyone have any heads up on some heavy duty bloody fighting anime with a decent story? something a lil out of the ordanary?

Assuming you've already seen Claymore, Berserk, Black Lagoon, and Hellsing. I've heard the Deadman Wonderland is pretty good, although as I understand it's censored. Gantz is another anime I've heard mentioned but haven't seen myself. Unfortunately that's all I got. =/

Sengoku Basara, while not having tons of blood, has tons of super awesome action and a very amazing soundtrack.

Plot wise it's about the warring lords back in Japan's feudal time period, with figures such as Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi etc.

Here's an easy clip for refrence, from the second season of Sengoku Basara. Here it has Toyotomi Hideyoshi going off against Motochika, in his display, Hideyoshi One Hit KO's the ocean with a single punch. Lets watch

I watched one episode of that show and came to the conclusion it was almost pure yaoi bait, Yuki Sanada is just flamingly gay for Masamune.

Also, Needless, its stupid, somewhat badly written, but holy shit is it fun, and its got a metric ton of violence to appease you on that. Its only serious flaw is the gecko ending which comes out of nowhere and makes no sense (manga has continued on well past that point.)

I was flipping through my likes/favorites on youtube and I saw one. The plot is basically about a man traveling around the world to find legendary artifacts of the heros of the past, because his friend, who happens to be a king of a country, made hi due so. The man in question is pretty much hated where ever he goes because he was born with the Alpha Stigma, and people persecute and hate him for that reason alone. It's a very deep and compelling story, one of the best I've watched, so take a look at the second OP and see if it is to your liking.

I've had that one recommended to me from another source. Guess I have my next series to watch...just hope I don't get banned by SERN like Digglett was. :O

I also just finished DBZ; I'd been watching it as a time-filler as I scouted for new series. I hadn't seen it since it aired on Cartoon Network and figured a bit of a walk down nostalgia lane would be fun. Oddly enough my experience was pretty positive with it. A lot of series really don't age well (like I've gone back to watch Gundam Wing and despite the huge nostalgia factor the animation and fluff talking is pretty painful; I had to stop watching G Gundam after the first episode) but perhaps it was because I didn't have any expectations going into it that it felt like it fared okay.

Is the animation the best? No, although it improves dramatically as the series goes on. Is the...erm..."plot" the best? No, although actually I think people underrate how interestingly convoluted things get on Namek during the Frieza arc. Is the character development amazing? Not for most of the characters, but rewatching it Vegeta remains a compelling and interesting personality that I'd match against newer anime without embarassment. Also I thought Super Buu was fairly freaky; there's nothing like a guy raising his hand and obliterating every last human being on Earth while wearing an insane grin. Did it have the horrific pacing issues people always make fun of it for? Yes, but I've seen plenty of recent shoenen stuff and they waste as much if not more time than DBZ does; the only difference is that DBZ has nearly no filler while other series disguise their wasted air time by inserting pointless side episodes (although it does deserve mockery for the "5 minutes" Namek takes to blow up...which drag on for 6-7 episodes). The ridiculous increase in power as the series progresses didn't bother me as much as it does in most, probably because DBZ is sort of the original series to do it so it's not a sham of something else; it just is what it is.

Beyond those faults I was impressed with Bruce Faulconer's sound track all over again, as he really does do a good job of matching his compositions to the characters. The dub is also quite good, which is something you can't say for a lot of series; not to sound too much like a Vegeta fanboy but his voice actor in particular deserves an award for his performances later in the series (especially as Majin Vegeta). I also appreciated that in contrast to most fighting series the cast is actually...grown up. Goku is in his late 20s or early 30s at the beginning of the series and is a grandpa at around 50 by the end; the same holds true for the rest of the characters except the few Saiyan kids, and even then they feel the need to offer reasons for why they're as good as they are. I actually have to commend the series for that as I'm really sick of angst-ridden pre-teens and teenagers dominating nearly every sector of anime.

In conclusion, it's not that I'd necessarily tell people to watch the series as I have no delusions that it's amazing. It has plot holes you can drive a truck through, some crummy animation when they aren't at key moments, and is flagrantly immature at several moments (mostly in the Buu saga). But coming back to it years later I think that DBZ has become anime's whipping boy a little unfairly.

Just finished the first few episodes of The Legend of Legendary Heroes. Not a bad start. Kiefer's appearance reminds me really strongly of Esther of Trinity Blood. It's also funny how quickly I recognize Jun Fukuyama's voice at this point.

I didn't really get too broken up on that one either. I watched up to episode 11 yesterday, then raid started, finished 12 and 13 after raid. I guess because I broke it up there at the end I wasn't as into it when I went back to watch the ending. But it wasn't really that sad of an ending, more of a happy ending you might cry through depending on who you related to the most.

Started watching Shakugan No Shana today. Seems interesting enough so far.

    *Shuns the non crier*

On a more on topic matter, I'm watching nekogami yaoyorozu and am rather enjoying it. And it's pretty much what it says it is. Like I said earlier, though, it does remind me of Touhou a little bit...

Just finished watching the whole clannad series and have to say that it is the most amazing piece of work I have ever watched. It had me laughing and crying and when I mean crying I mean tissues in my hand crying. As an 18 yo male I don't normally admit to crying but this was such a tear jerking anime I could not help it. Season one got me a tear or two in it but it was mostly funny and energetic. Around episode 8 in Clannad after story (season 2) I think that the anime wasn't as good as previous episodes mainly because of how sad it was. Don't get me wrong the rest of season 2 was great but I was crying during most of it. I absolutely recommend this anime to anyone who likes Shuffle! or other highschool animes. It actually really opened my eyes up to adult hood and am looking forward to the good times and the bad times in my future. PS Kyou is my favorite character.
