    [Books] New J.K Rowling novel

Apparently it's geared towards adults. Is anyone else looking forward to something new coming from her?

I'll read it, of course, but be disappointed I'm not reading something set in the Harry Potter universe.

As much as I would love to see a continuation, I doubt that there will ever be one.

I believe it was an April Fools Joke ( Could be wrong though )

I would be terribly saddened if it was an elaborate troll.

If it's not in the Harry Potter universe, I don't think it will be a SUPER good book, but we will see. Most grand authors have their one awesome universe, which they should keep themselves to (George R R Martins A Song of Ice and Fire and J R R Tolkiens Lord of the Rings comes to mind).

IIRC she said a couple of months back that it's going to be a detective novel.

Is it just me, or is the phrase "Wizard Detective" the best thing ever?

No, not just you. That sounds amazing. I can see it now "Luna Lovegood: Detective Extraordinaire"

The book isn't Potter related in any way.

omg that would be amazing... I always loved Luna (she saved the movies), and was very upset when she was hardly in the last book, so her getting her own serious would be outstanding

'But Luna! There's a murder on the loose! we need to catch him before he kills again!'

'Oooh look at those marks on the floor! a spinning fuzzwiggle must have his warren near here, we should leave'

    epic

I will direct you to these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dresden_Files

And yes, the whole series is quite good.

Interested to read it. Sadly it will just be compared to Harry Potter rather than it's own merits.

I was thinking that as well. However, as long as I enjoy it then I couldn't care less about what the critics have to say about it.

TBH I'm hoping if she just goes in the wwhhoollee other direction, and makes something 100% different from Harry Potter, then I think hopefully people will look at it as a stand alone series. I know when I read it (and you can bet I will even if she did a Glee/Twilight Crossover book I would read it ) I will judge it on it's own merits, you can just hope that others will as well.

and tbh if the critics don't like it, pan it universally and it bombs horribly... it's not like she's EVER going to run out of money , she has more money that the royal family afterall....
