These are all just numbers and letters to me. I can't make any sense of it :S

    Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.110622-1506)
Memory: 3072MB RAM (swear it was advertised as a 4gb ram laptop :/)
    Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II P360 Dual-Core Processor (2 CPUs), ~2.3GHz
    DirectX: 11
Graphics card name: AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 (what on Earth does this mean? :S)

So, can I run it on settings more than low?

AMD M880G is the chipset; ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 is the on-board graphics chip. The second is what you want to pay attention to.

Are you sure it's a 64-bit Windows? If it has 4GB of RAM and a 32-bit OS, the legendary 3GB barrier would yield such results.

The graphics chip is probably sharing the ram.

Hmm, might be; I'll be the first to admit my knowledge of laptops is basic at best.

Wait wait wait wait wait...computer forum representative calling in. Now from what I understand, this thread only exists because people don't know what to make of the official minimum specs listed below and are unsure whether their computer's specs are "equivalent or better" to them. Am I correct in assuming this? Because if that's the case I would recommend moving (or hot-linking) this thread to appear in the Computer forums.

    Component
    Minimum System Requirements
    Operating System
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Better
    Processor
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 or better
    Memory
    2 GB RAM
    Hard drive
    25 GB available HDD space
    Graphics card
    NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI Radeon™ X1800, Intel HD 3000 or better
(256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better)
    Internet connection
    Broadband Internet Connection
    Input
    Keyboard and mouse

So far I have seen only speculations on recommended specs to get it running smoothly, so nobody would be in any position to suggest the best upgrades to make for GW2. Obviously the higher-end rigs will run it without sweat (being an MMO) but that's still far too vague on what would be recommended.

The downside of that is that MMO-C as a whole is "dedicated" to WoW; thus if it's not in the GW2 forum exclusively, there will be innumerable replies along the lines of "lol yeah that's good enough to play MoP".

Which is why I recommended the Computer forum, because that's the LAST place where you'll get thoughtless replies like that. Anyone going around blabbing misinforation is swiftly dealt with and booted (figuratively speaking). When looked at the "computer advice" being given in the Diablo 3 forums I was apalled at the huge amount of misinformation flying around because face the truth - even though gamers know a lot about the game itself, they know jack-all about computers and the majority of them tend to give terrible/misleading advice.
That sort of a thing simply isn't allowed in the Computer section where there's atleast 20-30 people dedicated to the technical/hardware side of games, and FYI most of these people don't even play WoW anymore. We're just there to give computer advice and keep in touch with the technical side of the MMO-C community

So this is where I take my leave, you're all welcome to ask all computer-related questions in the Computer forum which happens to be the second-most active subforum on MMO-C . Just remember that we try our best to work on concrete facts and for GW2 the only information so far is the absolute bare-minimum specs. Also as far as I know in the GW2 Beta only minimum settings were available so that wouldn't be the best point of reference (correct me if I'm wrong please).

Well, I am curious about my comp as well as my fiance's. I'm more curious about max settings. I am sure I can "run" the game.

    Windows 7 64-bit
    Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6700 2.66GHz
    6144MB RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250

    and

    Windows 7 64-bit
AMD FX Series Quad Core FX 4100 Processor 3.6GHz
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 520

I'm also curious which comp is better. Thanks.

Nobody knows about max settings because the betas weren't optimized.

    Can I run it?

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit
    RAM (Memory): 2GB of DDR2
CPU (Processor): AMD Athlon II X2 240 (2.8GHz)
    Direct X: 11
GPU (Graphics card): ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB

I was thinking about buying Guild Wars 2 right now. I have around $120 saved up, and I was going to save enough for a Core i5 2400, 4GB of DDR3 memory and a new motherboard. Plus my Mom'd chip in and I would be able to get all that for only probably $60 more. However, if I got Guild Wars 2, my mom wouldn't chip in. Should I just upgrade first or will my system be able to run it beautifully?

    Cheers.
