Thread: Keybinds

    Keybinds

I know from experience with WoW that 1-9 as keybinds just aren't that great. So hard to reach further down on the end. What do you use as keybinds for your skills? I was thinking of using my same keybinds as in Wow, and they seem to work pretty great. I moved with E,S,D,F instead of W,A,S,D so i had access for more keybinds around the central era

Get a G-13 ( or Nostromos which I find clunky) and a naga-ish mouse and you can use your thumb for all strafing/ special abilities, 22 keybinds. That takes care of your left hand now use the Naga-ish mouse for an addition 12 keybinds and movement

I didn't spend a lot of time mapping my skills.
    (AZERTY-keboard here)
    AZSD is for movement.
My weapon skills are still bound to 1 - 5.
Heal skill is A, Utilities are: E,F and SHIFT+F, and my elite was SHIFT+A.

I'll use the same as wow. E,R,T,F,G,V,Q,1,2,3,4 + SHIFT + CTRL but obviously paired down I always use E,R,SE ,SR for my primary rotational abilities, T/ST for an interrupt/silence V for a snare SV for snare removal defensive abilities in Q, SQ, 1, S1 and then the rest kinds fills in. I assume It'll be similar here. I may shorten things up like using f and 3 instead of v and t

You don't actually need that many keys in GW2.

WASD movement, double tap any to dodge
    Q is '7' (utility 1)
    E is '8' (utility 2)
    V is '9' (utility 3)
    Z is '0' (Elite)
    X is '6' (heal)
    R is 'F1' (burst)
    1, 2, 3, 4, 5 left as those because I can reach them
    ` is swap weapons

If you are using a class that uses more than one function key skill then you might want to use shift modifiers.

I use the Logitech G13, and here's my layout.

As for my mouse, I use the Razer Deathadder since I find no reason to have a mouse with more than 5 buttons since I have the G13.
    Mouse Button 4 is Dodge
    Mouse Button 5 is Jump
And Mouse Button 3 (wheel) is Next Target

Didn't check during the last stress test, but did they implement shift modifiers?

    If so then my Hot Bar binds will be 1 2 3 4 5 Shift 1 2 3 4 5, if not my 6 through 0 will be Q E R T F

These are awesome and the thumb is so responsive. My layout compared to yours is a lil different. Your Auto run is my Tab target, below S is Spacebar/jump and I use my mouse for all forward movement and turning so your W is always my favorite ability. Then for comfort G19 is 1, G18 is 2....G17-3, 18-4, 19-5, 22-6 then all others are other stuff. On my Naga i have certain stuns, shields, health packs, mainly all evasive/survival

I don't know. I'm going to see if I can find an intuitive dodge button. Double-tap was okay, but didn't always felt natural.

Yeah I didn't like double tap for dodging, I'm sure a lot of people have already keybind Dodge to another button. I did, and Dodging as become much easier.

I'm an old Unreal Tournament veteran so I guess that's why I'm used to double tapping a direction key so rapidly to dodge. B is a close button to have for dodge if you don't like double tapping, but since I have the lightning speed tapping already engraved in my brain, I figured I'd keep it at that and free up a keybind.

We have had several threads on this topic.

One of the biggest was: http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/...W2-Keybindings!

    Thanks.
