THE result from Xfire in Feb was the same: Lol was being played 3 times more than WoW while a specialised buro that took a representative scientific sample showed the reverse.
Games like LOTRO are into the top 10 in such studies, which they don't in Xfire.
I just wanted to show that Xfire is not representative for PC game play at all.
As such scientific studies are rather expensive, it is good that everyone can see the HUGE difference between scientific samples and plain bullshit numbers from some fixed club where some games can be downloaded on their website and then make popularity listings with other non downloadable (or promoted) games.
I play the game and that's all that matters
Maybe it's just me, but I hate these kinds of threads. They're generally only used for people to 1) justify pre-launch hype or 2) convince other people that a game is dead and they should quit. I just don't understand the purpose of it. Why does it matter to you how many people are playing?
Humans are the only species on the planet smart enough to be this stupid.
The game has been sold out in ALL game retails in my town ever since last week.
The game is selling well, really well.
I think 4 Mio. is a very realistic number at this time. We might hit 5 Mio. sold copies by the end of September.
We'll run the guessing game till Anet will show us the numbers.
In the meantime we can run a lottery. The winner get a moderator job for the GW2 forum.
I answered it already above. In EU they added 3 servers, that's 10% increase compared to the launch.
So 1.5 million is my rather good guess for NOW and it was based on many factors like SWTOR, potential of the market and server numbers.
No need to come up with 4.5 Million Aion numbers again... That number could be proven wrong by simply looking at the server numbers, like we can do now
Once they'll double server numbers, you might get away with 3-4 million... Not sooner.

Who cares? It's a F2P game, so the only measure of success it can have is how many concurrent playing users it has that are able to buy stuff from the shops.
Box sales are never a good way to represent the success of a game. Most people will gladly dish out 50 bucks these days to see if it is any good, whether it is or not. Especially in a lull of new content by competitors. Just like how movie sales sometimes get in millions for pretty awful movies that get over hyped or had successful predecessors.
Could you be anymore defensive? I absolutely love the game and definitely wasn't bashing it, or defending cheaters. That doesn't mean I can't still retain my senses as well and the post I was replying to was just stupid. Anyway I agree that with you that around 2 million players is probably where they are at the moment.
