So we cleared the first three bosses in Mogushan tonight, and my raid leader actually messaged me asking me why my damage was so poor.
I've played Shadow for a good while now, since mid-Wrath. I do the number crunching. I know the haste break points. I did well enough in cata, but I could never, ever beat our similarly geared hunter, feral druid, or legendary rogue (I didn't have dragonwrath). I was okay, because I was still 'competitive', and more importantly to our raid, reliable. I showed up on time, and I knew how to stay out of fire (the hunter was terrible at this)
Early Mists, I did a lot of damage in heroics, and was stoked.
-Currently 463 ilvl, hit capped. Food. Enchants. Flasks. I FEEL like I perform a perfect rotation most of the time, and even with perfect rotation, my dps still lacks. On our Feng kill, I think our rogue did nearly 60% more of my damage.
-Dots never (or rarely) drop, and if they do, its for fractions of a second, refreshed at no sooner than 3 seconds of ending. MB on cooldown. DP on 3 orbs. Halo at 25 yards.
I understand that DK tanks do a lot of damage right now, which I'm okay with. However, that DOES mean it's just another notch down the totem pole I am. It's making me concerned that our group may end up benching me, or worse. I feel like there is no more 'progression' as far as skill that I can get, and no more gear (outside of just... getting more VP, and rep, and raid loot, which is bottlenecked by lockouts/dailies).
I also looked on World of Logs, and it looks like Shadow Priests in general are looking pretty poor. Sure, there's one or two in the top 100 for those bosses. But not much else.
Is shadow just meh right now?
