You don't need recount, your character sheet tells you all that you need to care about.
There will (probably) never be mods for this game because it uses a real money auction house. You're not allowed to have in-game advantages.

There are no bathrooms, only Zuul.
Athene Naked MP10 Diablo inferno kill
may not be uber bosses, but yes skill does play a huge part in the game. Dont usually follow his antics, but this is pretty amazing all things considered.
(Numbers are totally off, but this is just how they calculated it)
Lets say Azmodan on MP10 has 150 million health. If you can kill him in 50 seconds, then that means you did 3 million damage per second.
That's how all the announcements that happened on DFans happened. It started by a guy doing it in 75 seconds, then a guy beat him by doing it in 60 seconds...then a guy doing it in 50 seconds....
Everyone is using Azmodan as the huge target dummy to see your true dps on.

Anyway: (damage done)/(time in combat in seconds) = damage per second. Get a stop-watch.
Recount in game will never happen. Look the state of WoW...few percent DPS difference between classes cause insane amount of crying, any attempts to balance classes bring whining of 'undeserved nerfs' and threats of unsubscribing. As long as their class isn't top by miles players aren't satisfied.
Why would Blizzard brought all this upon them again in Diablo?
Unfortunately we probably won't ever get to customize our UI or get anything like recount, but I'm surprised there is no combat log or anything that tells you how much damage you have done/got hit for (especially for pvp later).
I haven't followed that closely, but if they are still thinking of porting D3 to consoles, then I guess it would make sense to not allow addons.
Pretty much this. There'd be people whining that their class doesn't do as much DPS as other classes (despite the fact that the gear levels and "gear tiers" in this game are completely different than WoW's) and there would be all sorts of elitism with DPS and such (LF MP 10 ubers, 1mil+ dps only) and yeah, it'd just be WoW all over again.
There's too many differences between D3 and WoW. DPS meters aren't required in D3. Other addons like UI modifications, yes, those would be nice. But DPS meters are just not needed here.
