I did manage to boot at 5.2, around 75-80 C, but it would bsod under very little stress. Had it stable at 5.0 for a bit, but the voltage was a bit too high imo.

I'd be lying if I said I haven't thought about it.

I still can't figure out why my screen goes into rave mode when I OC my GPU. It flickers really badly.

    Also, sickest thing I've seen.
Participated in a Folding contest a while ago. Basically, it utilized whatever spare CPU and GPU power you have to medical research, giving you points for how good you're doing. Really putting a number on your computer's performance.
I pulled about 60k-70k points per day with my setup.
This guy, he did about 175-200k points per day.

Basically a server board with two of four CPU slots filled.

I always wondered how you can have your mobos like that without standoffs. I thought the standoffs were grounds.

Imagine that thing with 4 CPUs. He would be cranking insane ppd.

Gaming GPUs aren't really made for this type of work and the GPU specific part of the program wasn't optimized very well.
This is also the kind of thing where hyperthreading and many cores would be an advantage.

It's mathematical rather than logical work, I'm fairly sure that's exactly what they were built for
The wiki says the first release of the GPU client was around 20-30x faster (back in 2006) and though cpu's have got faster, so have gpu's and the client has been refined...
GPU's account for ~76% of the total folding results :\

A wooden plate like the table it's on should be fine as well.

I don't visit it regularly, no. Mostly if I'm looking for specific computer stuff or such

Neat. Well if my mobo doesn't fit in my case I know what I'm doing. I just heard that if your standoffs aren't good then you can get a buzzing feedback in your sound. So I assumed it was a ground issue.

I just go for news and stuff. I generally hate their community :\

I can't recall any sources on this, but that's just what I'd heard. Tbh, I'm not too sure about this.

And this was right after the GTX600 series was released, so they weren't doing too well compared to the 560-590s. Not sure about the AMD counterparts.

Surprisingly I think I'm going to stick with AMD when I upgrade my GPU. Nvidia just doesn't have a good mid range with their current cards.
