ThermalRight Silver Arrow Extreme - Discussion thread

Will update this post with more videos/articles as they come in.

    Here's a full 12-page review: http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages..._review,1.html

Discuss how awesome it is, it surely will have substantial cooling just like the original Silver Arrow (edged out the Noctua NH-D14), and I must say, those fans are really screaming "whoa."

I kinda want one, just after the first 2 minutes of Linus' video.

Apparently it's been out for a while...

Hmm, can someone update the title to be "ThermalRight Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme - Discussion thread"? The naming is quite stupid, to be fair...

It's much noiser than the NH-D14, which is the quietest high performance fan around.

I don't know the measurements but I'm guessing it would be a pretty tough squeeze with 3 fans strapped on that thing.

    (..)Sandy Bridge-Extreme Extreme. Okay.

Also, wasn't this out already, or was it just Sandy Bridge-Extreme edition? I'm fairly sure I built a computer this summer with the Silver Arrow SB-E something. Had green fans.

This is the "Silver Arrow Extreme". Not to confuse with the "Silver Arrow for SB-E".

Well, there are three, I am talking about the tip top tier one. tetris is talking about the second one down, and the one you named would be the oldest one.

Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme (topic of this thread, didn't understand the naming at first, orange and red fans)
Silver Arrow SB-E (green uggo fans)
Silver Arrow Extreme (cool blue fans, been out for quite a while)

No one was talking about passive cooling, please don't change the subject of my thread. If you want to talk about that cooler, please create your own thread.

The NH-D14 is not a fan... o.o And the fan performance vs noise will in my experience depend on the version you obtain, as the fans that come with the cooler have been revised at least once. The newer edition like you see with the 2011 edition could undervolt the fans stupid low. I mean "below 600 RPM, at which point the motherboard has to be set to ignore the low fan speed and boot anyway" low.

i can drop the 120mm fan down to about 205RPM and the 140mm fan to about 180RPM

or i can shut them off entirely

But does the D14 come ready with the hardware for a third mounted fan? ;D

no, but with my case it doesn't need it, im sure if i was using an i5 and not overclocked at all, i could probably remove the fans entirely and just use the main case fans
