Another awesome example of the extreme shit lazy parenting that's become the norm in today's world. Fuck getting off your ass and being a parent, we'll just let technology help...

calm down, we don't the actual context of his quote and that actual sounds like an interesting project.
"If I am walking my kid to the bus stop in December and January, I would really rather not be doing that,"
If he really said that I feel sorry for him.
I won't make excuses for him, but does he have health issues that make it more difficult for him? Did he include his kid in on his project and use it as father-son time? We can't assume anything based strictly on the limited information in the article, but the quote itself does seem quite unfortunate and seems more like he's inconvenienced. I wouldn't say he's lazy, though. How many people do you know would spend the time and money to build the drone rather than send their child out the door on their own? I can say that the parent does seem to show concern for the child's safety by monitoring him and wanting to upgrade the system to make sure its safe enough to fly near him.
Build a drone to walk your kid home... so what is the drone going to do if he'll get kidnapped? Or if he tries to cross the street without looking? What if bullies come to him? Or he trips in the winter and breaks his leg? Nothing.
I like that this guy will send his kid out in the cold, no problem, but he won't.
"Do not only practice your art, but force yourself into its secrets, for it and knowledge can raise men to the divine." -- Ludwig Van Beethoven
A man builds a flying, GPS-following, automatic camera-equipped drone to help watch over his child and the Internet swiftly tears him apart for being a horrible human being. News at 11.
Isn't the point of escorting your kid to places to make sure he doesn't get kidnapped or hurt? What's a drone going to do?
Why am I back here, I don't even play these games anymore
The problem with the internet is parallel to its greatest achievement: it has given the little man an outlet where he can be heard. Most of the time however, the little man is a little man because he is not worth hearing.
Anyone else realize how much work would have to go into this being lazy?
You know what, you may be on to something here. I'll keep in touch whenever I get kids and we can pitch each other blueprints.
All silliness aside, I don't see why people are so prepared to tear him up over this without knowing more than what the news story reflects. There are loads of variables to take into account as well as your personal, enitrely subjective worldview. I think we should all look at that before we go all out and chastise him.
Sounds more like he was bored and wanted to do something silly and fun that had some function and put his skills to work. Wish my dad could build things so I could build things with him. He's old and losing his mind and memory, though, so that's not really an option.
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
Also, it's should HAVE. NOT "should of". "Should of" doesn't even make sense. If you think you should own a cat, do you say "I should of a cat" or "I should have a cat"? Do you HAVE cats, or do you OF cats?
Little over protective are you.
I am only 30 yet when Iwas a kid their was the same dangers on the streets their are now and I walked back and fourth to school daily WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A CELLPHONE which is something just about every kid has these days.
And if you were really worried about such things you can get a transmission device to track the kid, in fact it is one of the many reasons why I would support the government implementing tracking devices in people and making them mandatory, though it is not even close to being the best reason for it.
