It might have been if the OP hadn't framed it in an "insult in the form of a question." If it had been legitimately wondering what Americans think about Europe and why they care, it could have been constructive. That's why I started my first post in this thread with that thought in mind. Kind of ruined a little bit by the OP coming back and talking about us spying on them.

    Shared History.
    Shared Cultures.
Similar standard of living - "The Western World".
    Similar Educational Standards.
    Comparable economies.
EU is the largest collective economy in the world, makes it desirable in the US for trade.
US is the largest single market in the world, makes it desirable in Europe for trade.
Members of NATO, military alliances, mutual defense and peace agreements.

Seems like a herp derp kind of question to me.

well.. i would be surprised if people could not point out Europe on a map. wouldn't expect people to be able to point out all the individual countries though.

I'd be willing to bet I could accurately point out more countries on a world map than you. Stop making stupid stereotypes.

A large percentage of the Southern English population appear to have allergic reactions to it that cause irrational anger.

Oooh yeah, BBC is very much a good reason to have an interest in Europe. Dr. Who, Torchwood, Sherlock, Downton Abbey, Top Gear....

We spy on Europe because of every war that has happened. World War I, World War II...etc. christ I could even throw in the fact that Britain ruled over us in our countries early state
    every war

I've got Scotland, England, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Finland, and Estonia. Between us, we've got like a third of Europe.

As far as I know, we have far more interest in China and the orient than Europe atm. Almost all the job offerings I see coming to the United States specifically directed to Americans are there. I see very little coming from Europe.

We get all those shows through Netflix a few months after you folks in the UK. Since I'm paying for Netflix already, it's basically free to me. Thanks for supporting it with your taxes though!
