    New laptop high cpu temps?

So got a new laptop today and while running Minecraft and a web browser with a tab or 2 open...the CPU runs at 70c?

I know laptops are more able in terms of temps, but is 70c normal?

What do you mean more "able in terms of temps"?

Anything below 95°C is fine if it's a sandy/ivy bridge.

I mean they can handle temps way better if it is a laptop cpu. ;P

But yeah it's an i7 6330QM at 2,4 Gh, can Turbo up to 3,4 Ghz and it's a beautiful device.

No, other way around if anything due to weaker heatsinks, airflow and heatpipes

Hmm, I think the chips themselves are made somewhat to withstand more heat? Otherwise it wouldn't make sense...at all.

95°C is 95°C, doesn't matter if it's a desktop or a mobile CPU. The limit is the same.

I think you're worrying too much. If you are overly concerned, get a cooling pad. But like someone already said, 70c is fine.

TIM is just short for Thermal Interface Material and it's shorter than Thermal Paste so some people choose the acronym. :P

Well okay, I won't worry so much. :} I just got this laptop today and it's a beauty.

i7 6330QM Ivy Bridge at 2,4 Ghz which can go to 3,4 on Turbo, whatever that means.

    650M Nvidia GPU.

Thing is, it has a 15,6 inch width so it is not so ideal for gaming in LoL as I thought. :P Still doable but desktop is much better.

Nice. Did you just come from a time machine? Seems like you're 3 generations further than us. 6330

Both desktop and laptop chips have the same TJ Max of 105C (Intel).

Desktop overclockers don't like to push the temperatures past 80C but in a laptop, you don't really have a choice.

    i7-3630QM

Probably has more to do with resolution than screen size.
