No it's not a banable offense and as far as I know it never has been, though if it were I would be reporting people for typing their native jibberish on American servers constantly.

Well actually I already report them but that is moreso just for the temporary ignore as most of them do it to irritate others in trade even though they are perfectly capable of typing in English.

English realms ONLY means client and suport is in english ..... is it polite to use english in public channels, sure. Banneble offence to speak somthing else ? no absolutely not, unless you are spamming or being rude and somone reports you.

If anyone ask me a stupid question sometimes I respond in spainsh. Never been reported for it, though I did get a nerd rage from a guy complaining that my spainsh was horrible.

when you pick a server language on first start up, it says if you pick this server you have to speak this language in general and trade chat, but party and raid chat you can speak what ever language you like. ive never seen anyone banned for it though, always Swedish (i assume) guild adverts on my server, doesn't bother me and i dont think they ever got banned.

The answer is: no,its not "suspendable".

Realm language is the language the GMs will use to talk to you if you ask for support.Thats the realm language....everyone can (and usually do) talk in any language they want on any channel they want at any moment they want.

Where is everyone getting banned? My friend didn't get a ban. He said he got a speaking suspension for a week and then he quit. He didn't even get a suspension that he couldn't play at all with. Just a temporary revoking of any speaking privileges on his toons.

its when you're first picking a server and you have to chose "english/French/Spanish/German" and then "PVE/PVP/RP/RPPVP"

ive not seen it in a while though, usually just on first install, so i have no idea if the message is still there.

You absolutely can, it's in the ToS, you must speak to primary language of the server your on. It's to help stop people getting scammed, harassed and to make sure everyone gets all the information equally.

Actually, just looked through it again. There's no direct mention that you cannot post in a different language, but a couple of points it could fall under if you scrutinised it enough.

Lots of the EU English servers have been pretty much "converted" to other languages by the people playing on them. Like Twisting Nether and Vek'nilash being filled with Turks and Ravenholdt being filled with Scandinavians.
It's not a violation of anything, but it is kinda annoying, because communication is difficult because most of the time they only speak their own language and not English, and because of that they can't understand tactics and (in my experience) perform much worse in general, because they don't understand how their abilities work. There are obviously exceptions(lots of them), but thats the average Turkish player on Twisting Nether.

I still go with my claim as back when I started playing there were no other realms but English ones and I did read all the realm descriptions really damn well before picking mine and there was no mention of languages anywhere, only what the servers themselves were for.

Do you have a link to this by chance? Id love it so if they call me a troll the next time I try to be polite and warn them, I can link them the official answer on it. Although, after tonight's warning to a guy and soon to follow being cursed out in french, I may not bother again.

Yes you select what client type and what the suport language is spoken on the server .. nothing more. this does not mean you have to speak english on a *english* server, you could very well pick a spanish server and talk english there .... suport there will be in spanish tho.

what realm would that be with majority of dutch / belgium ?

English is the realm's recommended language because it's the only language they can guarantee support in for that realm.

English is the advised language of a realm to help gravitate players of that language towards it, however you cannot have action taken against you just because you are not speaking English.
You can speak whatever language you please, provided of course you aren't being inappropriate (which would be harassment due to the rudeness, not just due to speaking a different language).

It's not feasible for them to PUNISH people for speaking their primary language. They can't provide servers for every language in the world - does this means that Norwegians are not allowed play the game unless they speak English?

I don't recall if it was ever in the ToS or not, but where I remember seeing it was within the game itself. At some point during initial realm selection or something it popped up. Don't know if it's still there, but it used to be.

Indeed, I recall the same. It's in a fair few other games, and most online casinos too, I may perhaps be confusing them.
